Poker in Class

I know it probably all depends on the professor but what do you think happens to me if i should get caught playing some poker online during a lecture...if its just a slap on the wrist i dont really care...but if she'll screw my grade up i do care...opinions plz

Re: Poker in Class

If participation counts, then I guess she could get mad. Otherwise, who cares, just tell her that if she was a better lecturer, you'd pay attention.

Your the one paying for the class, do whatever you want. (this doesn't count for classes with <25ppl)

I don't see how poker would be any different than doing anything else on your computer during class (obv besides taking notes). If someone randomly saw it they probably wouldn't think it was for real money anyway.

I personally couldn't give a [censored] what students do in my classes as long as they don't disturb others and don't start screaming, "OH MY GOD, YOU [censored] FISH, HOW COULD YOU MAKE THAT CALL AND SUCK OUT ON ME LIKE THAT!!?!"

An occasional "Ship it, holla" whispered in the back is acceptable.

If there's no attendance why even go to lecture if youre going to play poker? Seems like you would be more efficient in your room.

For me, my initial intent is to go to class & take notes..& then oops, suddenly I am playing poker.

And yes I have yelled "Ship it" out loud, got some funny looks but most of my friends knew what it meant.

I've been going over hand histories in class instead. That way if I have to stop suddenly I'm still in the clear.

Re: Poker in Class

the only reason i can think of to play poker in a public space is to get attention, i can't imagine you can play especially well in the middle of class and it seems a waste of time to go. if it is this much of a problem dont bring a laptop to class

BTMegaCash 11-13-2007 02:42 AM

Re: Poker in Class

well most all my classes do take attendance which is the reason i must go...poker just makes the boring lectures far less boring...

Re: Poker in Class

One of my classes is completely pointless to go to the lectures but he gives pop quizzes. Only class I use the laptop for.

Re: Poker in Class

just do it in lecture halls for easy getting away with, i'd avoid it in small classes tho, especially where participation counts

i prolly get out of my seat and push your laptop on the floor because you should just skip if you're gonna play and not waste the time getting to and from class.

saw some clown in my econ class last year 2 tabling $5 sngs the row in front of me and wanted to crack up lol
