Amazing Laydown

Tell me why this guy saved me ~$1000?

$3/5 NL - I buy in for $500 and I'm a little over double my stack after about an hour or 90 min.

One of the regulars I play with, very tight player, bets the nuts, folds marginal hands, doesn't slowplay, rarely bluffs; he's the big stack with ~$1,700 or so.

Live straddle and he's on the botton, 7 limpers, he makes it $90 to go (obv has a hand as he wouldn't attempt to steal). SB folds, BB goes all in for last $98.

Before it gets back to me in MP, there are 3 callers already with 3 people still left to act! I have 99 and decide that if I call, or even if not, most will probably call these amazing odds to try to catch a monster because orig raise was $80 and the $98 all in was not enough to re-open action.

Right before the last person before the button calls, the tight player says "wow, i should have made it more, I might earn myself $25".

This is HUGE because the cardhouse I play at just started a promotion for the next week, from 12am midnight to 8am, if you get AA cracked, the loser gets $25 for his aces... the sad part for him, I know he's telling the truth, and he says this out loud to the table.

Total pot preflop ~$700

7 players, flop comes A-9-4 rainbow. BINGO!!!!! (or not?)

How the F*#% is this a scary flop for me. Checks around to original raiser and he stands up, visibly shaking and says "forget this slowplay s%&#, I'm all in!!" and moves in for $1700!?!

WTF?! So its back around to me, and I'm recognizing I have a HUGE hand, trying to think about how set vs set doesn't exist but now I'm 95% sure he has top set, he wouldn't do that if he didn't, he's too tight! This guy won't even call hands with HUGE ODDS even if he has 2 pair or a small flush, I mean he really is super tight.

I sit there for about 4 minutes, I have time called on me 2 times because damn near the whole cardhouse is watching... I flip over 99 and throw my cards into the MUCK and he flips over AA!

He had the perfect flop for a set of aces, no scare cards, and he messed it up. He did take down a $700 pot, but why not an $1,800 one? Oh well, I'm not complaining but I would have kept my mouth shut and at least made a flop bet of 1/3 the pot or something to get another $200-$300... then if someone raises, push all in and they either call with obv a worse hand or they fold and you have some more money for the best flop in the history of the world.

oh well, nh.

lol yea. very true. good thing it didn't come out A-A-9 or I'd have to call him and hope to hit the jackpot hand with my drawing-to-a-single-out-come-on-9-hit-me.

I'd have a hard time believing ANYONE flopped quads there but he'd probably still push.

It's $3/$5 NL and someone did a live $10 straddle. 7 callers, pot is $70 with the SB and BB still left to act.

You don't like the re-raise to the pot size? Besides, on a live $10, its only 8x the original bet, because the straddle is blind as well.

??????????????????????? Am I missing something else ??????

He gave his hand away by talking too much, obviously. Very astute of you to know what kind of player he is and pick up on it.

Thats what I'm saying. But I KNEW he had AA.

He made it completely obvious.

He's a player that will get AA heads up, the board will pair, he bets $25, you raise to $60 and he folds. Total tight player.

He made 2 huge comments saying he might earn $25 (which happends when you get AA cracked) and also "man i should have raised more". and THEN when the flop came, he said "forget this slowplay s*%!, I'm all-in"

^^All dead giveaways for this player. Even those its the most ridiculous thing he could ever do because nobody has anything relatively close to affecting his hand.

Nobody would be in with 2-3, anyone with the case ace is drawing dead, etc etc. My hand is the only one that had even a CHANCE at beating his hand, but I'd have to draw quads to a single out. In my book, I won the lottery for $1,000 that night because of him being so tight.

7 callers + button + sb + bb - I'm counting the live staddle as a call here because even if he raises, what does AA have to worry about, being reraised and folding?

This cardhouse won't play 11 handed anyhow. It's a very small cardroom, not even a casino. At any given point, there is 4 games going on, tops 5.

Always:

1) $3/6 Limit
2) $3/6 Limit full kill
3) $6/12 Limit full kill
4) $3/5 NL

If need be, they add another $3/6 limit table, thats all.

This is a single table NL place, so if there is a list, you just have to wait. I live about 30 min away, so I always call an hour in advance and tell them to put me on the board, they never open up another NL table because all of the people on the list are on other games and it would break those up.

This is a good layout for me because I get to learn TONS of information about every player that goes. I usually play in 12 hour sessions, so I've played a ton with these people and can target those weaknesses and tendencies I pick up. Not to mention take advantage of good reads and information like I did by laying down middle set here to save myself $1k.

I was runnin a 5-10 table as I normally do being extremely aggressive. I've never have any friends at the table.. I play HARD. I'm sittin with about 5k and raise to 50 with 55.. get reaised to liek 150 by a 4k stack and I call. flop 952 rainbow. I'm rpettys ure the guy has AA.. I check he bets 400 I call. Turn A... I check he pushes all-in for 3500 into just over 1k pot.. im pretty sure he has AA but I'm considering hes overplayin AK because he bet so much and I can't figrue out why he'd bet so much. So I'm thinkin and thinkin then he just flips up his cards and says fold and shows AA. Couldn't believe it. Some korean kid that I was runnin all night got pissed at him cuz he wanted to see me lose.
