how many hands have you played?
thought it would be interesting to see how many hands people have played sine they took up poker seriously, and also how far people want to go with their poker career
list the amount of hands you have played at each level NL50+, and then how many you want to play at your current limit before you move up. i think it will be interesting to see the contrast between people who rush through the levels and people like Fgators who play millions of hands at one level. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
i'll start.
i started taking poker seriously in april playing NL50 NL50 - 30k NL100 - 40k NL200 - 35k so as you can see, i am fairly inexperienced at poker (i'm a quick learner...) i plan on playing maybe 100k hands at NL200, then moving up to NL400 when i also have a 20k roll. NL600 is about as far as i have thought ahead |
Re: how many hands have you played?
well i played solely donkaments till this april and i had a sufficient roll so i just started at 100nl, instead of lots of people who i'd assume start lower. so im still figuring things out so ill probably be at 100nl for a while longer... my goal is to make 15k profits at 100nl before moving up to 200nl. ive played liek 120k hands at 100nl right now
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
NL50 about 30k hands
NL100 about 70k hands NL200 about 50k hands |
Re: how many hands have you played?
I averaged this up sometime last month and it ended up being approximately 500k hands total
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
I truly grinded trough the stakes; Since end of june (I went trough 10NL first;
8k hands at 25NL 44K hands at 50NL 5k hands at 100NL Took me a very long time to finally have enough roll to move up safely due to a couple of big downswings at 50NL. My bankroll limits the level I play at, so far, not the opponent's skill level. Soon I may have to cash out a part of my roll to pay for some [censored] so I will probably hang around at 100NL for a loooong time. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
50NL FR - 3k
100NL FR - 2k 100NL 6max - 9k 200NL 6max - 18k [censored] grinding, I gotta get paid. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
played 100s and 100s of SNGs before cash. Then:
50nl - 20k hands. 100nl - 100k hands. 200nl - 25k hands. Then withdrew $15k for flat deposit. 100nl - 50k hands (rebuilding roll). prolly 30-50k more hands until back to nl200. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
I started poker last week of November 2006 with 50$, playing super nit mode at NL2 (/w 2$ buyin as I was following a 25 buyin rule and 2$ is 100bb since stars NL2 plays 200bb deep). Started 12 tabling after a couple of days.
According to Stars I've played 600 000 hands on their site. According to my database I've played 100 000 hands on stars between May - August (moved to Prima first week of august). 10k NL25, 50k NL50, 36k NL100. I played next to no hands in March as most of my money was stuck in neteller. I played 30k hands on UB in April. So somehow I managed to play 500 000 hands between what is essentially December and February, I'm still trying to figure out how, but I guess 12 tabling 10 hours a day for a while leads to that.. (and I went on sick life tilt after I failed my first shot at NL50 in January, managing to go from 1k to 300$ in 2 days - lose 4 buyins at NL50, lose rest at NL25, I mean I was running really bad but I was also extremely tilted). I was running really good after the first few weeks (I was making 10 buyins a day at NL10, and I'm not exaggerating, given how little I knew about poker that's pretty hot), so I wasted a lot of time in february "trying to make it back", but was too tilted. Around this time I realized that playing 12 tables of stacked 6 max tables was a really [censored] stupid idea. I've played about 83 000 hands on Prima between August and November. I started out at NL100 there, 8 tabling but about halfway through I realized I REALLY couldn't play 8 tables on their software (too fast but also too clumsy), so I've been 4 tabling ever since. 39k hands NL100 34.6k hands NL200 About 6.6k hands NL300 2k~ hands of NL100 headsup. I still don't get how I played those first 500 000 hands, I mean sure, I grinded out a few 13k hand sessions (12 NL10 full ring tables stacked on top of eachother with a movie running = best way to learn, AMIRITE?) but I also barely played for parts of January as far as I can remember. As for the future, eh, I've decided to put off moving up and learn heads-up instead (I've got some pretty [censored] results in heads-up so far ) so I'm going to be playing NL100 HU over a few different sites this month, hopefully I can get a decent amount of hands in (I've been so lazy the last few months). I had a lot of trouble getting away from some weak-tight tendencies in my play, and not going on auto-pilot. I also tend to play too long sessions when losing leading to some epic graphs like this one from NL50: http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/6...etardedhf3.jpg And I blame it all on rekrul for making a comment in some monthly results thread to the effect of: "Lol you played 20k hands? I played 10k hands today". That or my ridiculous donkey-headed stubborness. Btw, I think Tinga18 posts on here, if you see this, do you remember this session? You were on my left on a few tables and I was tilting sooo hard, I think I spewed 5 buyins to you or so (a few were legitimate coolers tho of course, but I spewed a loooot, one of the few times I was actually tilting in the normal sense of the world, I usually just play my C- game when on tilt). |
Re: how many hands have you played?
lol. 14 BI downswing in 1 session. i would have stopped at hand 4000 probably. you grind hardcore. i only seem to average 20k-30k hands a month 4 tabling
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
i never play.
150k hands in 3 years. no wonder im still at 100NL 54k at 50NL 40K at 100NL 2k at 10NL FR 6k at 25NL FR and the rest at other random limits and games |
Re: how many hands have you played?
Yeah, hand 4k was my first session, where I took a break. Then I ate dinner, came back.... Wish I hadn't! I 9 tabled for most of the session btw, although it's possible I might have added a few more cause of tilt..
20-30k hands a month is what I've been averaging ever since I started playing on prima, 4 tabling. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
I'll preface this by saying before UIGEA I beat $400NL on party, I probably played about 100k hands of cash game total during that time, with 50k at 1/2 and 50k at 2/4. Then I quit poker for about a year.
I started playing poker again in July. Deposited $600. Played 6k hands of $50NL. Ran at 18ptbb/100 Played 6k hands of $100NL. Ran at 11ptbb/100 Played 150k hands of $200NL. Ran at 4.1 ptbb/100 Played 20k hands of $400NL so far. Not sure my wr cause I'm on a new computer and FTP can't email me my HH, but I'd guess like 2.5ptbb/100. I probably want to play about 200k at $400, and then hopefully I'll be comfortable moving up. In games where my winrate isn't huge I'm a pretty big bankroll nit because I tend to tilt if I don't have a huge cushion. My goal is to be at $1000 NL by the summer. I don't exactly want to rush through the limits, but I don't want to park myself at any limit for an extended period of time and let my game stagnate. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
Probably close to 500K hands lifetime but mostly at limit. Took up NL after UIGEA and did the following:
4K hands of 25NL while learning at 8PTBB/100 8K hands of 50NL to get bankroll up at 7.5PTBB/100 10K hands of 100NL at 9PTBB/100 13K hands of 200NL at 7.5-8 PTBB/100. About 1K hands of 400NL and we aren't going to talk about that... I am probably going to take a while at 200NL. The money is good for my part time hobby and +/- 4 figure days on a regular basis are a bit daunting for me right now. SMS |
Re: how many hands have you played?
i've played hundreds, literally hundreds.
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
I don't play much poker b/c of school so...
8k hands at 50NL 39k hands at 100NL 31k hands at 200NL 2.5k hands at 400NL (moved up a couple of weeks ago) Will probably stay at 400NL until I graduate, unless I continue to run on my heater. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
500k give or take 100k.
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
Closing in on 400k... surprised how few alot of you have played.
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
Jan 2007 - Okt 2007
~ 10.000 25NL ~ 60.000 50NL ~200.000 100NL ~200.000 200NL ~ 30.000 400NL I started at 100NL went to 200NL moved down to 50NL and then back to 100NL and 200NL. September was breakeven at 200NL. Oktober was breakeven at 100NL. This month im trying out 200NL again. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
Been playing on & off for about 3 years. Started playing NL properly in Aug this year.
15k NL30 - 8bb/100 28k NL50 - 3bb/100 13k NL100 - ~2bb/100 so far Hope to make it to 200NL one day but at the moment will be happy just to get some confidence going in my game. Last 5k hands I've resorted to being a complete weak tight uber nit running something like 12/6. Got in the mindset that they always call my cbets so I wont make them, and I've started limping a ton preflop too. I suck. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
I have to guess since I don't have my old db ... but something like:
NL10 - 30k hands NL25 - 40k hands NL50 - 100k hands NL100 - 110k hands NL200 - 80k hands Probably more though, but at least that much. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
25 nl - 25k 50 nl - 25k 100nl - 90k 200nl - 15k |
Re: how many hands have you played?
way way way to many to be still stuck at small stakes, probably around 350K lifetime.
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
do alot of people who are decent winners at NL200 or w/e cashout too much so they have to stay at the level for 100's of thousands of hands. i'm not in a great hurry but i don't really want to play more than 100k hands at NL200 if i can help it.
i cash out about half of my profits each month so my bankroll will carry on growing. it's at about 11k atm so still a long way to go before i get to the magic 20k mark when i will move up |
Re: how many hands have you played?
you are really going to wait for 100 buyins before moving up?
|
Re: how many hands have you played?
25nl- didnt have PT but i would guess 10k
50nl- 20k tops, maybe less. 100nl- 30k or so 200nl (huge beat)- maybe 200k? 400nl- probably 10k hands and down alot. 1000nl-120 hands, down a buyin chasing a fish :P |
Re: how many hands have you played?

Re: how many hands have you played?

you are really going to wait for 100 buyins before moving up? [/ QUOTE ] was that aimed at me. if so, i am at NL200 now, so will be moving up when my rollis 20k. so 50 BI's for NL400 |
Re: how many hands have you played?
US - you have done pretty well for only playing 125k hands
i've only played 100k or so, so i guess we are the newbies out of the frequent posters. |

[/ QUOTE ] Actually it's 50 buyins for NL400. I prefer to move up more liberally. Just replace one of your regular tables with a well-selected table from the next level. If you run good/get comfortable, replace another. Just play NL200 when you can't find any good NL400 tables. You should be able to do this pretty safely with a $11k roll. |

Re: how many hands have you played?
You guys have all played way more than me. I'm on around 40k. Worked up from 10nl to 100nl in that time.

Read that wrong. I've got a bit more aggressive bankroll strategy, starting to move up using the replace a table at a time method when I hit 15 buyins. I suppose the difference is that for me it's not a career but a hobby and if I did go busto it wouldn't affect me as much. |
Re: how many hands have you played?
started playing december '06
i'm guessing like 50k hands before i got poker tracker (in march) ... from .02/.04 to .5/1 march => july 75k limit hands, from .5/1 to 2/4 & some 3/6 cashed out a lot in july, started playing nl 25 july => now 130k hands 25nl => nl100 some nl200 so 250k in 11 months |
