2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

Villain in the hand is playing 18/14/10. He is a thinking player, probably a 2+2er. I have been playing 24/20/3 and cbetting a good amount. Villain knows that I will cbet this hand 100% of the time, and I'm sure is capable of floating it.

I have him over a tonne of hands hes definately a lot looser than that. Hes 22/18/4. FWIW I call the turn.

Against him i'd call, fold to river bet if unimproved.

I can see our hand being good here.

Re: 2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

I call the turn as well (probably, depending on what I think of hit timing etc.) and fold the river unimproved. You'll obviously be behind a lot but I think he'd very rarely bluff the river, so you only need to be right here like 30% of the time.

Thanks for the replies. I called, we checked thru a blank river and he showed 44.

Re: 2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

i like how you've played it and i absolutely call the turn.

Generally c/f the river UI but there are definitely people i'd call against.

edit: lol didnt see results. oh well - im brilliant.

I think its close, between check call, and check fold.......but u have nut gut..so that puts it over the top hah....

..id call and then fold if he bet river....betting flop, and check calling turn looks a lot liek an ace, i doubt he tries to bluff the river, so i think u can play it pretty perfectly. u "should" make it to showdown if in fact your q is good a decent percentage of the time

Re: 2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

yeah i like c/c and c/f river. most players won't typically be bluffing after you c/c turn.

Jeez please elaborate that sounds extremely bizarre to me.

that seems sooo thin. you'de have to have a sick image/history

i dont see why c/c is so bad.

Re: 2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

cause

a) if hes good, he will shove u off the best hand on the river too much
b) checkcalling doesnt fold out better hands. embarassing when u checkcall, river goes checkcheck and he tables A2s
b) checkcalling lets him improve to the best hand way more than u nits seem to realise

Unknown Soldier 11-07-2007 10:34 PM

Re: 2/4 KQo vs suspected float?

a, yeah fair point, river coud sometimes be a c/c too though

b, i doubt he will b/f the turn for value here

c, i know you've been on about this before and i see where you're coming from, but i think this matters alot less on the turn then the flop.

What am I repping by betting turn and better river (assuming he c/c) ?

A) Do you really think most 2/4 regs are shoving the river with air that often?

B) Agreed that this sucks and is one of the reasons I'd probably fold the turn, all things considered.

C) Eh? Name some hands that we're ahead of that has good equity against us.

a - the beautiful thing about poker is you get to decide what you want to do on the river
b - embarrasing lol
c - protecting your hand has some value, but that should be obvious, always, and this should definately not be one of your main concerns regarding the hand in the OP
