Coke Zero versus Diet Coke versus Diet Pepsi --help!!

Ok, so I drink Diet Pepsi because I like it better than diet Coke. I have recently tried Coke Zero, though, and like it better that Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke.

My question, how is this possible? Aren't Coke Zero and Diet Coke the same thing, just marketed differently?? Why do they taste different.

NOTE: All the above have caffiene, so I'm not referring to any caffiene free colas.

Diet coke and Coke Zero use different artificial sweeteners.

Re: Coke Zero versus Diet Coke versus Diet Pepsi --help!!

Diet Coke and Coke Zero both use aspartame for sweetening. Diet Coke is actually Diet New Coke (remember it?). Coke Zero is meant to taste like Coke Classic, so they are different.

To me pepsi max is the best from diet drinks. Atleast in Finland diet coke uses sukralose as sweetener and zero is totally different.

Arrion has it right, diet coke is based on new coke, coke zero is based on coke classic.
I like Pepsi One as well, despite the fact I really don't care for regular pepsi.

Re: Coke Zero versus Diet Coke versus Diet Pepsi --help!!

Fail. Both Diet Coke and Coke Zero are supposed to taste like Coke classic. The difference between the two of them is the relative amount of their sweeteners (ace-k and aspartame). Coke zero has less aspartame and more ace-k; Diet coke is vice versa. I think Diet Pepsi Max is the Pepsi equivalent of Coke Zero.

You are wrong. Diet coke is not meant to taste like coke classic. Coke zero is. Diet coke is based on the new coke taste, or more accurately, new coke is based on the diet coke taste. Citation: http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/newcoke.asp

OP: My favorite diet soda is Pepsi One since it uses Splenda. In my experience aspartame gives me a 'cloudy mind'. I don't really know how to describe it.

Coke Zero>>>>>>>>>>Diet Coke>>>>>Diet Pepsi

Coke Zero is awesome and it's all I buy at home. At work they stock the fridge with Diet Coke so that's what I drink all day at work.

Yeah it's pretty nasty but I used to drink like 10-12 sugar sodas a day and started feeling borderline-diabetic all the time so I force myself to drink the nasty stuff now. lol.

Diet Dr. Pepper is the clear winner of the diet soda wars, followed by diet root beer and cream soda.

for colas, diet pepsi max wins because it is an "invigorating cola" with "increased caffeine"

Coke Zero Cherry >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>Coke Zero>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;Diet Pepsi>>>>>>>>>>>& gt;>Diet Coke. IMO.

I recently bought ten 12 packs of Coke Zero from Home Depot because they were on sale (with some probably-a-mistake manufacturers coupon) for $1.08 a 12 pack. To make that even better, at Home Depot they charge the usual deposit of 5 cents per can, yet I can still return them to another store, so it REALLY ends up being .48c a 12 pack. BOOM.

HP,

so it was $1.08 including the 60 cent deposit?

I bet I drink more diet soda each day than anyone else fwiw imo and the key is to rotate every six cans between diet pepsi and diet dr pepper.

How do you not drink diet soda?

When it comes to the taste difference between the real thing and the healthy alternative, soda has one of the narrowest margins.

Real soda >> diet soda

but

real food >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> "diet food"

So if you give me the choice between real coke and a lean cuisine or diet coke and a real sandwich, its not even close.

having real soda and a real sandwich isn't an option, because then i'd be a fat slop. seems to be fine for most of 2+2, but i'd prefer to not have to wash myself with a rag on a stick and deal with bed sores.

Re: Coke Zero versus Diet Coke versus Diet Pepsi --help!!

Noah,

I never said I drink any soda on a regular basis. I drink water > 90% of the time. That way, when I want a soda, I don't have to subject myself to the nasty taste of a "diet" (LOL) drink.

I'd rather have diet soda as a constant and regular caffeine pick me up rather than view regular soda as some dessert treat for special occasions.

ps- i am a hypocrite because i'm going to buy beer now for the pats/colts game and it likely won't be light beer.

I find it funny that people crave soda so much that they'll drink a nasty ass cola (which isn't even good for your body in the long run) instead of switching to water, juice, etc.

I never claimed "diet soda" was a misnomer.

I mean, you can do whatever you want. I've, fortunately, cut down on my caffeine/soda intake to the point where soda only needs to be an occasional thing. I used to drink a crap-ton of soda when I was a kid. It's a good thing I played sports year round or I'd probably be a Dids, pre weight loss.

Edit: I also probably dislike the taste of diet sodas/artificial sweetners more than the average person.

Diet Pepsi Max is the greatest soda every created.

Diet Pepsi used to be my preferred drink but is now barely tolerable after experiencing Diet Pepsi Max.
Years ago I preferred Coke or Diet Coke but now both taste like absolute crap to me.

Where'd you get the stat on mg of caffeine for DP Max? I'm actually monitoring my caffeine per day. (can't deal with 0 caffeine; don't want more than 300 mg per day)

I did too, but when I went on a diet a few years ago, I gave up sugar cold turkey. I went about 3 weeks drinking only water because anything "diet" was just nasty. I then tried a diet soda and it wasn't all that bad. It's like I forgot what a regular soda tased like. Eventually, after a couple weeks of drinking diet soda, I got used to it and really liked it.

I now can't drink a regular soda. It tastes like dog crap to me. I still don't like Splenda or Saccharin, but I can drink anything with Aspartame and really enjoy it.

I don't drink much soda anymore. I probably average a can a day when I probably used to drink 6 or so a day. I drink a lot of iced tea and kool-aid and I make both with Aspartame.
