heads up hit and runners
its really annoying.
why doesnt the online sites implement a predetermined hand amount option. in other words, player A is sitting. player B sits down. a box appears on the screen and you type in the amount of hands you want to play.......the other player can agree or refuse. once the hand amount is agreed, then the hands have to be played out till the set amount is over or one goes busted. ok, lets say theres an indefinate disconnect problem and player A cant get back in time........player B gets his original buyin money and whatever profit he has won, and the rest gets thrown into a limbo account that the disconnected player A has one week to recover by finishing his match. the rematch can be continued through an agreed upon time done through an email system or whatever through the poker site. if the disconnected player makes no effort to restart the match within a weeks time.......all of the limbo money goes to player B. this of course is a rough example that i'm sure can be streamlined. i think its a good idea and it eliminates chicken [censored] hit and runners. its such bs for people to hit and run because there are plays you can make that are only worthy if you know the opponent is going to stay a while. why should i 3 bet someone light if i know he's only going to stay till he makes a little chunk and run off? these things can be solved easily in my opinion. |
Re: heads up hit and runners
Am I just drunk or is this the dumbest [censored] ever?

Re: heads up hit and runners
Horrible idea. So bad it inspired me to make my first post.

Re: heads up hit and runners

Re: heads up hit and runners

Re: heads up hit and runners
I like the idea's. Probably impractical though.

Re: heads up hit and runners
Great ideas man, I know what you're talking about. It's usually the idiots that buy in for short that make a quick hit then run. To combat this, just play players that buy in full.

Re: heads up hit and runners
The funniest player i ever played HU (FL) bought in for 10BB, ran it up to 20, then left and insta came back with 10BB, donked them off, rebought and repeated the whole procedure twice. I ended up breakeven but i lol'd my ass off anytime he left and rejoined.

And what's to stop player B deciding not to play, or play on a different site for a week, and take the "limbo money"? So many questions...still it's inspired three first time posters so far, congrats OP. |

Re: heads up hit and runners
OP: What you should be concerned about is people playing about an equal number of buttons. Whining about someone just playing you for 20 hands is just silly. The rules are very clear about this, and it doesn't affect your EV what so ever.

So many questions...still it's inspired three first time posters so far, congrats OP. [/ QUOTE ] dont you guys read or does your mama still wipe your ass for you too? this system only applies to people who are serious about playing........not hit and running. i remember watching daevils playing one time. his opponent siad he was going to leave after 10 minutes of playing. daevils was pissed because he said he wouldnt have 3 bet light if he knew opponent was going to leave soon. i run into these problems too.......even against full stacks. i watched urindanger play some heads up last night. the match went back and forth for a while. not too much fluctuation. then all of a sudden, urindanger reloads and i know now that he plans on stepping up the pressure. i know his opponent knows this too. a few hands later , they both get it all in pre flop with pocket pairs. urindanger is beat, the other guy doubles up and splits. if there is a hand commitment option, then that bs is eliminated. nobody says it has to be agreed upon either. player A can sit down and refuse his option. player B will at least know now that he is playing a possible hit and runner and can now make his adjustments........or not play. it doesnt surprise me that there is a lot of negativity about this idea. you are all the type that hit and run i'm sure. you all harp on shortstack ratholing but hit and running is totally fine. i think most 2+2er's are the biggest bunch of douchebags i ever seen........and its probably because 98% of you are not winners in the game. you come to 2+2 to be a part of it but in reality, your just fodder. |
Re: heads up hit and runners
I agree completely. I also think that every who wins money against me heads up should be forced to stay until I win it all back plus 10% for a surcharge of suckingout to win it in the first place.

[/ QUOTE ]Ok, apparently it affects your ev since you choose to dump some value to people you think are going to play longer. I can see how your solution to that would be whining about how the sites should force people to play longer games. |

Re: heads up hit and runners
I actually like the OP and think his concepts should be extended to all poker games not just H/U. I for one would like to sit at a 6-max table and enter the amount I would be happy to lose to each player in a special 'box'. Obviously this would only ever be a dollar or two but it could really put the brakes on those nasty $5 swongs...

Re: heads up hit and runners
Damn, tough crowd here. OP - I commend your attempt but I just think it wouldnt work. Many people just couldnt "commit" themselves to X number of hands, considering something unexpected could come up and they have to leave.
Hit & Runners are scum.. I wish there was some fair procedure in place to prevent them, but there isnt. |

We have a Vietnamese woman at work and she's always trying to feed us. I tried her food once and it was awful.
That sandwich looks delicious though. I needed to tell you this so much I registered so that's four first time posts in this thread. |
