Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3082513
[ QUOTE ] he Lakers are asking for a package built around Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah, which is more than Chicago is willing to surrender. Also, Bryant would not want to play in Chicago if the Bulls surrendered all four of those players, believing there would not be enough talent left to compete for a championship, and he would veto that trade even if the Bulls and Lakers were both in favor of it. [/ QUOTE ] As a Bulls fan, I'd be fine with Gordon, Noah, and a couple/few draft picks. Would like to see Thomas stay, and absolutely under no circumstances want to see Deng flipped. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
After trading Ben Gordon and Noah for Kobe, the Bulls should try to trade Hinrich and loose parts for Nash, and then trade Ben Wallace for Dwight Howard.
Then the Bulls would be really really good. Like even as good as the Spurs! |

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Let Kobe veto the deal, that means he really doesn't want out ^^

[/ QUOTE ] Your comment is ridiculous when you consider the fact the superstar in question always has the leverage, and if an offer is accepted it is always a lowball one or "10 cents on the dollar". If Kobe bitched and moped and didn't perform to his standards, I could realistically see a Gordon+Noce+Thomas/Noah+Picks for Kobe after Dec. 15th. |

If Kobe bitched and moped and didn't perform to his standards & the Lakers kidnapped Paxson's family for ransom, I could realistically see a Gordon+Noce+Thomas/Noah+Picks for Kobe after Dec. 15th. [/ QUOTE ] |

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Are you insinuating that Gordon+Noce+Thomas/Noah+picks is too much for kobe? Propose that trade to any lakers' fan and they're like ROFL. I think that's pretty fair for a lowball offer though. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
If anything, the Lakers have more leverage than the Wolves did because they were still a playoff team last year in the West.
That said, considering that KG and Kobe are of similar value, I think that the Bulls, if they do want Kobe, need to give up something of similar value, and the Celtics gave up Al Jefferson. Deng is not even as good as Jefferson. The deal starts there. |

If the Bulls traded Deng then one of Gordon, Hinrich, Bryant couldn't be on the court at all times, since Kobe can't play the SF full time. That would force Nocioni to be the starting SF on a championship team (I doubt he could). Also boston had an absolutely terrible team, and needed to make a trade to have a shot. The bulls are already favorites to win the eastern conferance (along with boston now), and really have no onus to make a move. Anyway, it doesn't look like a deal is going to get done, because Paxson is simply going to refuse a deal that doesn't work heavily in his favor. edit I would assert that Deng is relatively equal to Jefferson Their PERs are about equal, and obv deng kills him in roland ratings, but that's mostly due to his team. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Maybe I should think things over before quote-editing. I read it as 4 players + at least 2 picks for Kobe, which still isn't bad for the Bulls, but I would want Deng if I'm the Lakers.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
If Nocioni is your weakest starter, that is actually very good, especially when Kobe Bryant is on your team.
The Spurs started Oberto and Bowen. I'm not saying Kobe is as good as Duncan, but he's pretty close, and Nocioni is better than either of the guys Duncan started with, with the assumption that Nocioni would be the Bulls worst starter after a trade for Kobe that included Deng. I mean...if they don't want to take the deal, they will continue to be a slightly worse version of the Pistons. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Why would any team leverage their future to get Kobe? Hasn't his time in LA w/o Shaq proven he alone isn't good enough.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
if they can keep deng and tryus thomas somehow he wouldn't be alone... then all they'd need is luke longley ron harper and steve kerr to be a sick team

Gordon+ Noce+ Thomas/Noah+Late First Round Picks DOES NOT leverage the future, but any more than that and I don't think it's worth the risk imo. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
The Bulls and the Lakers are my two favorite teams. The Lakers were actually the first team in any sport that I was a fan of. I really have no idea what to think about this trade.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
If the Lakers don't get Deng and Thomas and picks they failed.

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
hinrich should be in the mix, you don't need a true point guard with kobe....
still i say there is no way this deal gets done... why don't they jus get jermaine o'neal and stop being idiots |

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Bulls obviously don't want to give up Deng. I think they'll agree to give everything the Lakers want except him and it'll end up something like:
Gordon, Thomas, Nocioni, Noah for Kobe...maybe take one out and add some picks. 105,777 and counting |

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
This cracks me up. Everyone already picked Bulls to win East, and now they're discussing a trade for Kobe, lolol...
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
You don't pass up a chance to get the best player in the NBA in his prime. If they can finagle the Lakers into accepting Gordon/Thomas/Noah/Nocioni/1st roundersx2 for Kobe, then a Hinrich/Kobe/Deng/whoever/Wallace lineup wins 55+ games and is the prohibitive Eastern favorite to reach the Finals.
Of course, I think they're already the Finals fave in the East...but not having someone the refs love doesn't help you in the playoffs. |

[/ QUOTE ] am i the only one who thinks the Bulls shouldnt be giving that much for Kobe? We're already a team to beat in the East, and i dont think we should mortgage the future to get him. I think if the Bulls do get him, the Paxson isn't giving up more than Gordon,Thabo/Tyrus,Noah, and a 1st Rd. pick(We could add some older veteran for money reasons). Kobe has already said that if the Bulls give up too much then he's gonna veto the trade. What is somethin that I have a feeling that could happen is a 3 team trade involving the Bulls,Lakers and Wizards, but thats unlikely |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
lol at deng being so untouchable.

lol at deng being so untouchable. [/ QUOTE ] Hes 22 years old and just put up 19 points on 52% shooting, 7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks. He isn't untouchable, if you're already giving up a few other good players then I don't see how you can add him in as well even if it nets you Kobe. 105,682 and counting |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
will people please stop calling kobe the best player in the game?
best scorer? probably. best player? duncan. not really debatable. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
And hes clearly getting better and better...while that is obviously no suprise that a guy entering the league at age 19 would get better, he has gotten better EVERY SEASON IN NEARLY EVERY MAJOR CATEGORY. I'm particularly impressed with him getting better at FT shooting each and every year- not every young player does this and imo it shows that hes working hard.

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
deng is a bonifide all star and a very good player
kobe is a bonifide super star and a great player giving up deng to get kobe is a no brainer to me... but it also depends who else is thrown in. bc the bulls without alot of people who are on the bulls are not really the bulls. |

Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
I think bulls fans overestimate how valuable their future players are. Decent players with potential are not hard to find in the NBA. Great players are.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Stein reporting possibility of Kobe deal to Washington for Arenas (and perhaps Blatche).
Can't see Kobe accepting that, though Arenas would jump at the chance. Not sure if it's in the Lakers' best interests, but have a hard time seeing them getting much more value than that...Arenas>Gordon+Thomas+Noah+Nocioni imo. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily

[ QUOTE ] Let Kobe veto the deal, that means he really doesn't want out ^^ [/ QUOTE ] Why do people even say stuff like this? You can't actually be serious can you? [/ QUOTE ] The Lakers front office has to do what's in the best interest for the team. Kobe has proved for the last three, soon-to-be-four, years that he cannot carry a team by himself, so it's likely in the Lakers' best interest, regardless of Kobe's trade demands, to trade him. But if they can't get proper value for him, then of course they shouldn't trade him. If Kobe wants out so badly, and since he obviously thinks he's so valuable and great a player that he's worthy of being accomodated, who he is to dictate how much value he is traded for? Wtf forget that. Just let Kobe rot. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Kobe can in fact veto any trade...
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Duh. Thanks for missing the point.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
I wouldn't mind giving up Ben Gordon, he's too much of a cannon at times for my liking; not like Kobe would be any different, but you know...he's Kobe. Hinrich must absolutely not go, and I really think it's 50/50 whether Deng gets thrown into the deal - I get the feeling the Bulls wonks won't part with him, but I've been surprised before.
|
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
Why shouldn't Hinrich go? Duhon does 90% of what he does and with Kobe makes Hinrich irrelevant.
If the Bulls want to rape the Lakers, step No. 1 is including Hinrich. I'd give up Hinrich and Gordon before giving up Deng. Duhon + Kobe + Deng is better than Hinrich + Kobe + Gordon. |
Re: Lakers and Bulls discussing Kobe trade daily
LOL, wrong thread.
