Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
i sit at multiple HU 50 100 tables and he decides to sit at every table im at even though he knows i dont want to play him just so that other people cant sit with me and are forced to sit with him.
all he types is "i want 50" in chat. hes so [censored] annoying |
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
this seems extremely inappropriate and if you reported him to the site I suspect they may take action.
I assume this is at FT? |

its not at fulltilt, its at AP... so they probably wont do anything. i wouldnt report him, i think hes a fine guy irl. but for someone who complains about hit and running and HU ethics he certainly doesnt have very good ethics imo.
he quits people after taking most of their money if they get below 5 bbs and if they cant reload. and he does [censored] like this, its just annoying /ending another rant |

Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
I don't do it because if someone did it to me I would be really upset. It may be neutral ev but to me it's incredibly unsporting to stop playing at that point.
|
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
As long as the 5BB player won't quit until they are bust, the other player has an edge, and the rake is small, the winning player is favored. You have to factor in the future +EV situations you will gain if the small stack play favors the 5BB player.

Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
Yeah but they also probably lose money playing poker overall.
I hate getting hit and run but I've come to terms with it. I think a losing player has every right to do it, I also think he should be able to play down to his last bbs. |

It's obviously not just a matter of "he'll play you but you won't play him." It's way more than that. He's following him to every single table he's on. He has a right to decline to not play that guy without being stalked or shut-out of practically every game on the site. If they don't stop heads-up 'stalkers' like this then essentially you end up with a situation where they are chasing each other around from table to table which is ridiculous. And indeed FT has done something about this in the past. If a guy is sitting on 6 HU tables and doesn't want to play Mr.G then Mr.G shouldn't be allowed to take up the seat on all 6 of that players tables as some weird form of revenge or shutting-out. |

Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
You don't know that they are down to the last 5BB's in their whole acct.
They could just be refusing to reload because they like the advantage of having the short-stack...and then they plan on reloading if they lose the short-stack. So I don't think it's such a horrible thing to sit-out when the opponent gets down to 5BB's. |
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
so someone explain to me how having 5bbs is an advantage?
dont effective stacks make their no advantage? |

Say the other 45%, you're average loss is 7BB though. Over all, in this case, you would lose. |
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
Well my stand is this....
#1... If You dont play me then you should not be able to have your own table and wait for the fish to play you instead of me. I took this stand on FTP and am critisized so much about it that FTP made 15 tables of HU instead of the 4 and told me I can sit but not follow. I follow this rule because I have to respect there position but do not agree. On absolute and UB they agree with me on this issue but the more important issue of bots are simply ignored. This will change soon as the "media" is about to get involved. More to come on this later. #2... 5bb is a simple rule that I have utilized in the respect of avoiding hit and runs. I have played over a million hands and thousends of hours all heads up. Its been my experience that hit and runners will utilize the small "short stack" style and then hit and run on me. As most of you know I absolutly HATE hit and runners so this is how I prevent it. The downside to this is I am losing value to horrible players but most horrible players that wont reload are intending to hit and run me in the first place. I also lose the have to go bust before reloading and lose potential income to this but i feel its a risk i take to prevent hit and runners. #3... I have the reputation to drop 10-20K at a drop because I dont quit people and have huge ego. This has caused me hundreds of thousends of dollars all I ask is people to do the same and that is why I ask for them to reload. Why put me at risk for losing lots if they wont do the same. #4... I know most seems like this is unethical and not right but I disagree. For many that have met me in real life knows first and formost I am one of the most trusting and honest people they will ever meet. This is why I love 10-20k freezeouts live so all this "unethical" talk simple cant happen. I am simply protecting my own interests since I am no longer in the Navy and this is my only source of income. -Crazy Mike |
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
Leaving aside the moral question, what if some one retaliates by following you around and sitting out in all your tables? Isn't this kind of mutually assured destruction? You don't let them play. So they don't let you play, and you both lose your chance to play fish.

its especially dumb for you to do this mike because neither of us are good enough compared to the other HU to make playing worthwhile. the rake would probably win.

i used to agree with you however, i have found that over and over again, given the oppertunity the other player will and it seems try to [censored] me right up the ass. so now my position is unless they are totally horrible and are a reg. i will do whatever i think is best for my short term interests.

Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
As usual Mike is half retarded and half exactly right. Stalking people is stupid, wanting them to reload is not. I don't understand what the mystery is about not wanting to play people with like 2-5 bets, it's pretty obvious that if they get it in on the flop or turn then the advantage one has on big bet streets is nullified. It's so simple and obvious that I feel as if I must be getting leveled because I don't think I should have to point it out.

Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
Yes, a 5BB stack will pretty much negate any advantage you have.
But if you play them, and they double up, you now have put yourself in a +ev situation against a larger stack that you wouldn't have if you quit. So your expectation against the short stack isn't just -rake, it also includes future hands with larger edges if they double up. If they are going to run if they hit, or if you can immediately find an equally juicy opponent, then you should leave. Otherwise, it's worth it to play against a poor 5BB stack. I recently came to this conclusion. I used to demand reload when an opponent dropped below 8BB. |

It used to tilt me too when they would win like 15 bbs back after i 4-bet him AIPF with my K3 vs. his 38 and he takes it down but then i realized that i should just stop tilting because this guy terrible and i'm getting these dollars. |
Re: Why is Mr Gatorade the most annoying person ever
fwiw I am a huge ethics nit in poker and while I agree that it's a little douchey to just sit out and say "reload" I do not think it's unethical at all. Either player can quit any time they want, any player can ask for the other player to accept certain conditions or the match is over.
When I play HU I play as long as they have money in front of them and I can remember far too many times when someone randomly turns like 1-3BB into 100BB while I can't remember too many times that their 1-3BB turned into -100BB so I understand not wanting to play these people. I sometimes wish I would sit out and tell them to reload. |

If you're referring to the average amount lost over the duration of the session, then it will be higher. But you're going to win the 5 BB way way more than 55% of the time in that case. Simple model: You win his 5 BB right off the bat 52% of the time and he doubles up right away 48% of the time. (You have a small edge b/c you know how to play a short stack better than him.) Those times he has a 10 BB stack, you're going to bust him anyway about 54% of the time (assuming for simplicity that the game is a freezeout). (You have a larger edge with the larger stack.) The end result is you're going to win those 5 BBs most of the time and every once you're going to run horrible and lose dozens of BBs. In the end, you still show a profit, but psychologically you will feel like you are losing because the big losses will be weighted in your mind much higher than the accumulation of all the small wins. If you're playing a low limit where the rake is relatively high and the other play happens to be half decent at playing a short stack, then you won't have an edge. But otherwise, it's rubbish to suggest that playing a short stack cannot be +EV. |
