Ed Miller\'s new book
According to CardPlayer.com,
"Ed Miller, an accomplished poker author, is working on a fourth book titled Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'em: Winning Big With Expert Play". Is this old news? If so, I must have missed it. Is this a 2+2 book? Must admit, I'm excited. |
Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
if it was a 2+2 book it would have been mentioned already surely!
it might become one once it is finished Still, it would be worth looking out for. |
Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
That was the old working title of PNL.
Miller has written 4 books: SSHE, GSIH, NLTAP and PNL. He is working on a 5th. PNL2. He may publish other books later, but they may not be 2+2 books. |
Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
Yeah, the long and short of this is that Jeff Schulman is so out of touch with the poker community that he doesn't even know the title of the latest book written by the author he just hired.
And such an unbelievably simple fact to check made it past editing. LOL @ Jeff & Card Player |

Thanks guys.
It's time for me to calm down, I guess. |
Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
If I remember correctly, he was working on "Big Stakes No-Limit Hold'em: Winning Small With Expert Play". I could be wrong though...

I'm surprised that he is now writing articles for Cardplayer.

Mason has more high profile beefs than Jay-Z.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but consider this - What's Ed's best selling book? Ed wrote it all by himself, but Mason & Dave still put their names on the cover. And so, by extension, get a taste of the royalties that would otherwise be Ed's alone. Sure, Ed owes a big debt to 2+2. They give him his publishing break. Ed certainly owes a lot of his understanding of the game to his Major Kong days when he was just another poster like the rest of us, trying to put it all together. But ever since GSIH, and certainly since NLH:T&P, Ed has worked hard at "being his own man" rather than Mason & Dave's unholy love-child. Hence publishing most of his more recent articles on his own, hideously constructed, Web page rather than here on the 2+2 internet magazine. That Ed's "break" from 2+2 and "becoming his own man", if you wish to call it that, roughly coincides with his marriage to Elaine is something for other people to speculate on. I will only say that, after being married for several years myself, my wife keeps mine in a box on top of the refrigerator. |

Also, when we signed the contract with Ed Miller, well before the book was written, he agreed to a certain royalty rate. That never changed. MM |

What's the feud about? Anyone have a link? [/ QUOTE ] It's better not to rehash the whole thing. Basically (IIRC), Barry Shulman made some pretty rude comments about Mason in public (at a poker table) when somebody asked him if they wanted to republish one of Mason's articles. I'm not sure if something led up to that event or not. Cardplayer and 2+2 have not done business together since. You'll notice that none of the books they sell through their site are 2+2 books. (At least that used to be the case; I haven't checked in a while). |

From the 2+2 front-page advertising the books PNL and SNG-Strat: "Available for Pre-Order!!" "Expected shipping date is July 20, 2007" |

The book now titled Professional No limit Holdem: Winning big with Expert Play was origionally geared to SSNL but once the authors were in the process of completing the work they changed the name and direction of the book because they felt it was better geared to helping the aspiring pro (SStakes player) get to Pro (Professional). Hence the name change. +EV PS. I am not sure this is exactly correct (but it is close) since it was addressed almost a year ago and i cant find the threads that it came up in. |

I can explain the confusion. [/ QUOTE ] Most understand the name change. I was responding to the post that ripped Card Player/Shulman for the error by showing that Miller could not be bothered to fix his own website. |

Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
I clicked on the link to get to Miller's site and then clicked on the news link. In the story I read, Miller said that 2+2 cut out most of the acknowldgements Miller made in PNL. Anyone know the reasons why?

Re: Ed Miller\'s new book
If someone's main live game is going to be $1/$2 NL, would it be to their benefit to read PNL or would it be better to read another book such as How To Dominate, Mastering No Limit, or No Limit: A Complete Course?

dont bother with "mastering no limit" the other books are much better

[/ QUOTE ] Each are unique. Dominate specifically has $1/2 in the title. However the book has you playing one particular style, to the extreme that, for example, if there are too many loose passive players at the table you just go home. That said, the book is still worth reading. So is Largay, for other advice, and PNL for the SPR theory. |
