Movies with the best dialogue
I recently watched "Glengarry Glen Ross" for the first time in a while, and it occurred to me that I don't think I have ever seen a film with better dialogue in it than that. Reservoir Dogs is up there, but nothing tops Glengarry as far as the dialogue.
Anyone care to disagree? |

Re: Movies with the best dialogue
As mentioned, the best of billy wilder, the coen brothers, kevin smith and tarantino is going to be some of the best dialogue ever put on screen.
In the end though I think if we're just talking about the movie with the best dialogue ever it has to be Casablanca. P.S. For some reason firefox seems to believe I'm misspelling dialogue. |

I really like Lost in Translation for its naturalistic dialogue.

Re: Movies with the best dialogue
There's good dialogue and there's good natural-sounding dialogue. Everything listed so far doesn't really sound natural. This doesn't mean it doesn't sound great or seem natural. One of the amazing things about Pulp Fiction is that everything sounds natural but people are all actually giving a series of small speeches.
As far as natural dialogue, I don't think any movie is better than Mean Streets. |

Interesting point about "good" versus "natural."
Don't you think Glengarry Glen Ross counts as natural dialogue though? I mean that is a totally believable situation with real-life characters. |

Great dialogue in Good Will Hunting in my opinion, that's high up there for the best. Pulp Fiction, I agree with that too. |

Re: Movies with the best dialogue
Midnight Run comes to mind as dialogue that was both natural and good.
So much depends on the actor, though. Midnight Run had DeNiro. Glengary had great dialogue, but it was as unnatural as can be (deliberately). |

Lawrence of Arabia, probably.
Casablanca is pretty damn good too. |
Re: Movies with the best dialogue
Masterful dialogue in Glengarry. The Alec Baldwin Character is an add-in for the screen, though. I don't think he existed in the play.
I will take American Beauty as being up there as far as dialogue. There seems to be a brutal honesty about it. The kind of honesty that a bunch of disillusioned people would have with themselves, maybe each other if they were intimate. Seemed pretty real to me. |
Re: Movies with the best dialogue
I also agree with the Pulp Fiction selections but anoth one I like is
