Wow. From the article:

Absolute Poker on Friday morning admitted an "internal breach" following accusations from the online poker community that a company "employee" had been able to see other players whole cards.

This goes well beyond partial cards - that's even more blatant!

that's an old article. He mentioned that AP had not released a statement or admitted anything had happened. The article was from Thursday, the statement came on Friday.

Am I still the moron for thinking there is something not real with online poker, or .... wait a minute was I right.

I wonder how all the idiots who were defending the integrity of the online poker companies so strongly feel now. This is not a 1 site thing, I am sure this is going on at all sites, just some do it more discretely and in different fashions. I told you there is to much money out there for them to settle for just 5% of the pot.

Your ever-present 'Pokerstars is rigged' threads are not vindicated because of the cheats at Absolute. One of the most adamant 'idiots' to which you refer is Josem, a poster who when presented with actual evidence, as in the Absolute case, was rabid in his pursuit of the cheats.

Your contentions always consisted of mere possibilities, deriving from your inability to win on Pokerstars(I can't win I must be being cheated!). Having played with you for a bit, the fact is your skill level is insufficient to beat the online game for any serious money. I feel confident in saying this because your skill level I have observed(admittedly rarely lately) is very much what my own was in the not too distant past. And guess what. I didn't make squat either. This Absolute scandal sucks, and is disturbing, but the fact there are cheats in the world does not make Pokerstars one of them. Study hard and improve, and stop focusing on a scapegoat for your inability to win on Stars.

Instead of "I told you so!"

Try reading the complete story first, then, if you still want to comment, you'll have all the facts to at least make an intelligent comment!

This is NOT just another "online poker is rigged" story....

The complete story is posted in BBV, take the three or four hours to absorb it!

Here's a blog on this story by Freakonomics author Steven Levitt from the NY Times.

Re: AP Admits

that freakonomics article is also an old one and also pre-dates Absolute's admission of what happened. Some of the info is dated including the implication of Scott Tom in that article...who AP now says was merely the guy who was 'set up' by the actual guy who did it.

It was a good article, just letting people know that quite a bit has happened since Oct 17 including AP's admission on Oct 19.

The MSNBC article has more current info than the yahoo and freakonomics articles.

From last summer I have believed AP's blackjack was rigged (I am serious), but that's another story for another day and I don't have concrete #'s to back it up, although a lousy weekend of experience of a loss I'd love to forget.

Actually Bob, that information is now dated as well, as the new statement that AP seems set to air seems to implicate Scott Tom after all. (See Current AP thread).

Re: AP Admits

my reading of this is that AP is only focused on the one tournament in question. Is there any info that they're going to check for additional incidents and make good on those too?

Re: AP Admits

Obviously there is a difference between looking at the stats and analyzing based on the facts vs. saying that you can "just feel" that the cards there are somehow "different" and that becuase you aren't good enough to win there the site is somehow setting it up against you.

Note - Merely saying that you are the best player on the whole site does not necessarily make it so....but it sure is amusing to see.

Re: AP Admits

AP admitted it now I'm waiting for PokerStars to admit it too. I've gotten outdrawn on the river everytime for the last two days. I must be getting cheated. They probably see my hole-cards but also what cards are about to come next. How else can I explain getting Aces cracked by Kings, Queens, Jacks, Jokers, and the cards in the deck where the rules are printed. Actually on my last hand I got beat with somebody playing the back of their cards. The dealer accidently put the flop backside-up and the guy made a flush. [sorry, I'm having a [censored] run]
