So I like this girl in my class...
 

There is this cute girl in my class that I really like and want to ask out. So last Friday , I finally decided to make a move and ask her if she wants to work on the next homework (which was due Wednesday) together and before I finish my sentece, she says "oh yeah sure, let's talk on the phone over the weekend ..." and gives me her phone number with no hesitation. This was really surprising to me because of the way she reacted, it really looked like she was already expecting me to go talk to her.

Anyhow, I called her on Sunday and left her a message but got no call back. Then texted her on Monday afternoon around 3pm if she wants to go over HW's and got a message at 8pm : "Sorry, I've been busy all the day. I dont think I am going to be able to work with you on this one. Sorry to keep you hanging [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] ". Then I reply " Alright, maybe next time." and she replies back "Yep!"

Now what's my play? I am not sure if she was really busy or just wanted to get rid of me somehow. Or am I overthinking? Should I ask her again next time?

Don't do anything "pushy" for a couple weeks...just be friendly. If she hasn't mentioned anything by then, you can suggest doing something (homework, date, etc.) again.

Word. Don't be the creepy guy who doesn't get the message. Play it cool for a little, make some jokes about the prof, then after a while ask her if she wants to do some work or something.

Girls tend to make time for guys they might be in to, or would suggest something else to do pretty soon. Don't do anything toward her for awhile.

update: Ok so like I said the HW is due tomorrow and it's really long and hard. I text her complaining how this never ends and asking how she is doing. She is all friendly again and helps me with 1 specific problem I was stuck at.

I think she really likes you. Don't worry about it too much though, it is just one girl. If she is being too difficult just say "[censored] her".

Best advice I can give would be to just play it cool, and be friendly. Dont come on too strong. Maybe approach her about forming a study group for your next exam coming up... Either she will get closer to you naturally, or stop talking to you naturally.

You've given her multiple chances, she's not interested. Your only shot is to completely drop pursuing her, remain friendly, and hope she starts to think she missed her chance and makes a move. Since she's obviously smarter than you, I'd drop the studying angle since she will start to view you as a burden if she's constantly tutoring you.
