I'll be there Sunday for sure. I was there all weekend last weekend, they got a lot of games going friday b/c of the big tourny action (got 2 or 3 500 gms, and a 2500 interest list and maybe a 20-40) and rest of weekend was pretty good, just very table dependent, sometimes get tight passive 1-2's which dont play big enough but overall good.......i'll be probably at the 100,200's and 300's all weekend, jeans a hooded sweatshirt...dealers yeah jill's cute, tiana and hani i like too, and a couple of the cocktail waitresses are unreal, wowwww, but some old bags too

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

good deal....have you tried the 300 there? it is pretty big ive heard, dont know if i can take the swings....we'll make a deal, if either one of us is at a very good 100 table or 200, give a little signal or wave and let the other come over, lol b/c i dont want to be stuck at a rock table where my $14 raises after 5 limpers get 0-1 callers...but thats rare....btw sean is a good dealer too but a male, i love hanni but she is married with kids

Let me tell you something about the 100 max ..Their is this lady she is asian I believe her name is lucy has to be the worst [censored] player at stone I swear..She will call with/play any two cards its so sick how I have a great read on her and she hits hands no matter what..It tilts me hard because it a donkey taking my money...14 dollar raises ? lol if i get deep stack Ill loosen up the table but starting with the donks i gotta build a stack before i can play how I want lol...I could raise 10 pre flop and get 6 or 7 callers its so sick even iso plays dont work lol..Do you know Danielle ?

mikeinNY 10-17-2007 08:28 PM

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

you mean that heavyish old asian lady with glasses? i used to see her but she always busted and now plays like 2-4, if thats who you mean....at the 200 table theres this local who has it out for me, as he always tries making dumb plays w/draws and got lucky on me a few times.....
yup you need 250-300 bucks before you can start playing how you want, no question...but i noticed the play here is MUCH weaker than atlantic city, you concur? just sometimes doesnt play big since it's only $100 and no booze served....danielle, sounds familiar...i do know jill as she dealt sunday afternoon, danielle im not positive, point her out to me sunday...i'll be there fri and sat too so hoping to grind out decent money.....btw, do you know anything about getting a poker room rate at the Inn, have you gotten one, who do i need to ask/call?

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

I don't know how you do it.. I can't play the 100 max.. just not worth the time.. the 200 max isn't too bad but the 300 and 500 max games are AWESOME.. I actually prefer the 300 a little better because it plays pretty big and its much weaker competition.

mikeinNY 10-19-2007 12:01 PM

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

interesting....soft competition at the 300 eh? I just never played that blind structure since have always played 1-2, 1-3 since it's been so easy....more agressive players i assume but still bad, tag style should work? i've heard the 500 max has some massive pots and it's a bit too big for my bankroll but maybe i'll try 300 this wkend...you're right $100 sucks but it "Can" be good if it gets wild with lots of rebuys it can play far bigger

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

OP, sorry I didnt meet you today bro, I grinded friday and yest and i was too tired and tilted to stay today and had to meet my family for some stuff....but, i wanna hear your thoughts when you read this.....for everyone else, here's a mini trip report w/whatever I can remember from my 25-30 hrs of grinding this wkend...

a) table selection obviously cannot be emphasized enough. I'd say for me and other borderline players, it makes diff b/w + or -....a few times i was stuck with young grinders/college kids, so i switched tables to some looser, terrible players when I could....

b) I saw perhaps the worst player ive ever seen...lady calling ANY cards for ANY money, and going from $100 to $400 w/in mins, while I prayed I got in a hand w/her but I didnt hit anything....calling $80 pf w/J7s, calling on flop big bets all the way down w/3rd pair, etc...

c) played w/another absolute calling station who every time they called for $2, theyd play for $15....I flopped OPESD, flop was 8d,10d,rag, and I had J9d and called pf raise...4 to that flop...pf raiser makes it 20, 3 callers, I decide to make a play and make it $100....original pf raiser about to push all in before he sees idiot calling station behind him act out of turn and show hes gonna call, so he folds a big pair....calling station calls, naturally, other 2 fold....turn is a blank 4, I push $80 more in he insta calls...river rag so I missed, figured calling station had a pair or two....he turns over 74d, he turned the f'n 4 for like 4th pair and he called $100+ with a 7 high flush draw and nothing else w/no odds, go figure...I said nice hand.

c) why is that low NLHE seems to almost always be a limp fest? how do you change that when you're not getting cards by making plays/raising with deception, etc? as many times, its limped like 6-7 ways and becomes bingo....as an aside specifically on TS, theyve got a ridiculously stacked 5-5 NL $500 max which Id love to hear about, though I dont have the roll for it yet... friday i rolled over some calling stations who kept reloading and NEVER raised preflop or bet, just check/call all the way....so overall, a profitable trip, but a typical grind at LLNLHE....if anyone has any specific tips/thoughts/adjustments on these sorts of games and some ideas to generally improve profit/hr, would love to hear them....

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

I was at the casino pretty much all weekend playing 200nl (6-3am friday, table 29, 2pm-midnight saturday table 27). Im local and play there a pretty good amount and have had a lot of success at the 200nl game at least. Basically I try to take advantage of how aggressive the game is playing preflop. If it is limping around a lot, I will limp drawing hands from pretty much any position and try to hit a big flop. If it is more aggressive, I will call a preflop raise from the button with a lot of cards provided the preflop raiser has a stack of 200 or more. I am usually pretty aggressive on most flops, but won't play huge pots without a huge hand. Even if the table is playing really loose/passive, I will still raise a large range and then just tighten up after the flop if I get like 4-5 callers.

As for the 100nl game, I don't play that because the 200 game is just as soft and you can stack someone for $200 instead of $100 when they make a mistake.

The 300 game can be either crazy or nitty depending on your table, I have played at both and either way it plays bigger than 300max because people typically have at least 500 on the table and the blinds are 2/5. You have to be willing to gamble a bit in that game.

I played in the 500max a couple times and that game is just silly big. I am trying to figure out a good strategy for that game besides just playing the nuts (which would work pretty well too I think, but I get bored when I don't play LAG live). Its not uncommon to have 6 people see the flop for $50 apiece. Usually most players have $1000 or more, and will put you to big decisions postflop. The good news is that I've noticed that about 4 or 5 of the guys who are terrible/calling stations at 200nl and 300nl are regulars at the 500nl game when its running. Oh and Al Krux is pretty bad too. I really can't wait until I have the roll to sit there comfortably .

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

Great info Brian...27 was the one closer to the bar, I was at the 200 more towards the back brush area, it was a pretty good game....I basically play an "ordinary" TAG game but I mix in some raises with suited connectors and some plays post flop but nothing crazy.....do you think that strategy could work if I moved up to 300? I've found the 200 to be fairly profitable usually as well, it just very often is a limp fest with 6 to flop and whoever hits flop makes pot size $12 bet with top pair...
the $500 game looks nuts, and I'm not good enough right now to be put to $3-400 decisons on flops by people, or have the roll....do you know that shortish middle aged asian/taienese looking guy, always wears jeans and a grey jacket and hat? he is nuts, and was playing the $500 friday night....I've started to notice many same players everywhere, just a lot of young kid-grinders who play TAG, and with only usually 2 $200 tables not much room, so I play $100 if it's profitable enough, but I cannot wait for the big tourny wkend after turkey day to try the $300, if you could help me identify if the game is good thatd be great....I'll be there this coming weekend grinding again at $200 mostly, and $100 if I need to, so i'll say hello if you'll be there....thanks for the reply

Anyone gonna be there tomorrow ?

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

Nah Ed, I was there all weekend and the 200 game saturday and sunday was the most insane I've ever seen, esp sunday some 20 yr old raising PF every hand w/any 2 and raising any flop and 2 old calling stations whod call with overcards and no pair on flops. luckily i hit 1 set and got paid, if not for some tilted calls I made couldve been even better....I have some stuff to do this weekend and possibly next, but I'll be there the entire weekend right before thanksgiving and the one after thanksgiving when they have that deepstack tourny series, cash games should be great at that point....let me know how the games are if you go today or tomorrow, I'm curious about the weekday action, we'll meet up there the next time...

<3 the 200 game always clean up

mikeinNY 10-30-2007 10:15 AM

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

yeah the 200 was weird sunday...they started a table, it was full of rocks then they started another table, also full of rocks, so i moved back to original table...it had changed up and became good...then that table broke and combined with other one which became good.....on an side, whats your estimate on an average hourly win rate someone TAG and decent can win in a pretty good 200 max 1/2 game? i was doing well but i put in insane session hours so its almost too much time for not enough $. do you keep records? i'll see you before t-giving or over the deepstack weekend, cannot wait should be great there

DMBFan4Ever 10-30-2007 11:53 AM

Re: Turning Stone Sunday

Well everytime I go I absolutely crush..Its great when everyone lets you limp with garbage then you hit and take massive pots...Ill give you an example of how bad the table was last time I went.. Been playing for a couple hours at the table pretty stacked with chips around 250 or so...I wake up mp with KJ off...Tables pretty weak meaning guys will play anything suited and ace rag etc ec...I do my standard raise for these donkey i think it was 6 or 11 i forget...I get repopped to 22 or some [censored] I flat other kid flats...Flop comes out q 10 blank rainbow I believe one spade....I knew for a fact neither of these kids had either of this I jam like 15 flat called by two again...turn k spades Now I have top pair with redraws of course so I jam again get repopped ...turn comes blank thank god cus this pt is just [censored] huge >400 I think at this point...I flip over my K J off and take the pot...Seat 1 mucks he was on a high flush draw prob and ace and the other kid was playing with 35 spades...Needless to say this is how people play...I knew if the spade fell I was dead...I just started keeping records for my cash games and tourneys live....I played for about 4 hrs from like 6-10 and walked out +500 so its usually always better when I play later...Depending you should make anywhere between 2-400 at 200 max I dunno how long your sessions are but what I consider a good day might be dif than what you do
