I have set issues
At 100BB I have a real problem folding bottom set, particularly on board where villain could be drawing. When I play deep stack live (200+ bb), it's a lot easier to fold to a $500 raise, but online at only 100bb deep, I find a turn fold for 50bb very difficult.
I'm being killed by set over set 1 - 2 times a session lately and I only play a few hours a day. I pokerstoved this hand and I'm only slightly ahead on the turn if I have villain's range at AA, TT, KdQd, KdJd, Jd9d, ATo. I'm behind on the flop . WTF, do I just bail on these hands? It just seems so nitty. Re: I have set issues
lol @ folding a set at party 2/4 for 100 BBs
actually, lol @ folding a set for 100 BBs period |
Re: I have set issues
I put him on AA fold flop!!!!!!!
Are you really thinking of folding????? honestly? |
Re: I have set issues
not getting away from this hand is a big leak.
|
Re: I have set issues
call this, i also think his range is wider than you make it. Furthermore TT and AA is less likely due to pf action.

Re: I have set issues
You're getting unlucky lately with sets, dont go weak/tight because of a few coolers.

Re: I have set issues
is this a joke? this hand is the freakin nizzles

Re: I have set issues
WOW
calling this is aweful |
Re: I have set issues
Nooooo.... That's the point. It never even crossed my mind (well maybe for 2 milliseconds, but was quickly tossed).
That hand nearly put me on a massive tilt session. My bottom and middle sets been just crucified lately on what seem to be fairly safe boards (ie. no flushes or apparent str8s). I just couldn't see this as a leak (I have many others that I know of). I was starting to second guess myself and wanted to hear what 2+2 had to say. Villain in this hand is running at 70/8/0.4 after 250 hands. Re: I have set issues
fold / sit out / cash out
|
Re: I have set issues
The hand with 55 is fine/standard, I'd probably take it a step further and 3bet the flop. If you lose, you lose, but folding a set for one buyin in this spot is insanity.
As for the TT hand, valuetown the river. $140 seems good. |
Re: I have set issues
sick spots here
|
Re: I have set issues
i have no idea why people think hand 1 is a sick spot.....wtf
|
Re: I have set issues

Re: I have set issues
I was at that table, I think I know who you are. You're quite bad.

Re: I have set issues
you need to move down a few levels and get a feel for the game of poker. seriously. if you worry about losing 1k then your not ready for this size game w/ your current skill set.
|
Re: I have set issues
i want to get as much money in as possible in both hands. IMO, neither hand is close, there are so few combos that beat you while draws are out there + top pair or 2 pair hands are within his range.

Re: I have set issues
I love this site . Thanks for the feedback, which was mostly just confirming my own thoughts, but none of my friends play poker, so when I go through a series of coolers and lost coin tosses, I just have to reconfirm my actions.
Hand 1: o I could have pushed the flop, but I didn't want to risk him folding. o Folding was never an option. I didn't bet $100 on turn just to fold to a RRAI. Hand 2: o I pushed. There was no way villain had AA. Why push??? Cause Villain was a complete nut bar and if he was going to call $200, he'd call $400 and I was not going to fold to a re-raise. He called with J9. Clearly I under bet the turn or should have bet the flop (probably would have got a call anyway). FWIW, I finished up that session. Yeah, I'm not very good (ty for pointing that out... very insightful feedback jackass), but I don't entirely suck either. I have never shied away from what appear to be coin flips and I am not playing with scared $. Okay, now I have to ask. Were any of you actually serious about folding hand 1?? |
Re: I have set issues
Hand 1 plays itself, just get it all in.
Hand 2, raise turn to $100, get it all in on river. If you worry of oversets you are going to lose a lot of value in the future. |

Unless you FedEx in your reads from [censored] God Himself, you're getting stacked here.

Re: I have set issues
Cool. Hand 2 was at the beginning the next day... so no I don't tend to worry about over sets.
