Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
supposedly, this isllusion shows you if you are more right-brained (creative), or left-brained (logical)
if the dancer spins clockwise, you supposedly use your right brain more often, if the dancer spins counter-clockwise, you supposedly use your left brain more often... linky i personally can only see her spinning clockwise, and i assumed it was just some lame "experiment" or joke or something... however, there are people in the forum from the site that posted this who claim they can only see it counter-clockwise, and some who claim they can make it switch and can see both... however, the people in that forum are idiots, so i thought id let you guys take a shot, and tell me if you see any different... again, i can only see her spin clockwise, and im hoping that many of you will see counter-clockwise, seeing as many poker players would most likely seem to fall under the "logical" catagory. im hoping this is for real, because if so, it's quite cool |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
On another forum I read this was posted. Some people there say it spins counter-clockwise, and some could see it go both ways with effort.
I'm not really sure how well it measures which side of your brain is dominant though. There seems to be little to no correlation between the way you see it move, and your right / left-handedness for example. Btw, I see it clockwise, but I'm right-handed, and very good at logic (on the LSAT which measure logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, etc. I scored in the top 99.9%.) And I don't think I'm particularly creative, although obviously that's much harder to measure. |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
I am able to see it both ways. At first, it was going clockwise. Then I stared at the shadow for a bit and at some point I noticed it going counter-clockwise. I've been able to do that a couple of times now.
Anytime that I look away from the page completely and go back to it, it is going clockwise again. This is pretty strange because I am not creative at all and any left-brain/right-brain testing I've done in the past has shown me to be more left-brained. *edit* Now when I look away and go back it is counter-clockwise. hmmm... |

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
If you look at her bottom foot it's always going clockwise. I'm not sure what could possibly make you see it any differently.

If you look at her bottom foot it's always going clockwise. I'm not sure what could possibly make you see it any differently. [/ QUOTE ] Haha, this is simply not true. As the foot goes from facing left to facing right there's no way to know whether it's coming towards you or going away from you in the 3rd dimension. This is equally true about her bottom foot as it is about every other part of her body. That is why it can go either direction. I closed my eyes and pictured her rotating the opposite way and when I opened my eyes I was able to see her rotating whichever way I'd chosen. |

What does it mean if you see her bent over?

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
wow update... after trying for a while, if i close my eyes for like 2 seconds and picture her going counter-clockwise, she'll go that way... how is this [censored] possible? i dont get it
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
I only saw it clockwise and then minutes later...YES! Counter-clockwise also. The cool part was that I was like, "there's no way this can possibly be counter-clockwise," but then I got it.

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Like the first second I opened it I glanced and swore she was going Counter.
Then it was clockwise the whole time. I couldn't understand how it would look Counter, then after reading these posts I went on and "tried" to see it Counter and now can. But I know I'm Right-brained anyway, which is weird because I'm extremely logical. My profession is Architecture, which helps if you are good at both. There are several other ways to check which you are. One is to fold your hands with the fingers all inter-locked. (like praying). You should naturally do it the same every time. If your left thumb is on top of your right thumb, you are Right Brained. If Right thumb over Left thumb, you are Left brained. Try doing it the other way, it feels weird and icky. lol. Also, I believe there is a correlation in how you fold your arms. For years I folded right over left, then I made myself get used to folding left over right just for fun and now I usually do left over right. EDIT: There is also an easy way to check if you are left-eye or right-eye dominant. Look up at a light on the ceiling and "frame" it in a triangle with your two hands. Make the triangle really tight. Now close each eye one at a time. When closing one eye, the image should "move" out of the frame. If it moves when you close your right eye, you are right eye dominant. If it moves when you close your left eye you are left. |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
do not get it!
maybe because I have a digital watch! |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Mines going counter clockwise the whole timem My gf was watching at the same time and said it kept switching.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
I see it going counter clockwise, if I blink my eyes it briefly changes directions. wierd
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
ok, this is annoying me
I stared at it for minutes. Took a break, then stared at it some more as much as I chanted to myself: "THIS DANCER IS ROTATING COUNTERCLOCKWISE" and concentrated as hard as I could, I couldn't see it. I think I need a visual clue. What is it that could actually be construed to be going counterclockwise?! is this some sort of huge level? stare at any single body part and everytghing is CLEARLY going clockwise. |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
I don't know if it has been posted on here yet, but that spinning lady changes directions on its own, it's not your eyes that are doing it.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
it keeps switching on me, i think the image itself is switching. but idk, it will be stuck on clockwise then ill click on the girl and it goes the other way.
I now have it so I can control which way she is spinning. It is very easy. Just think that the leg in the air is up if she is spinning counter-clock and if she is spinning clockwise its her right leg up in the air. I am neither logical nor creative, so i dont know what brain I am |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
you can see her nipples.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
It looks like she is always going counter clockwise, and I don't understand how it could possibly be clockwise.
And as I just typed that and looked at it again, it was going clockwise, hahaha. Wow that is crazy. I'm pretty convinced its rigged. |

[/ QUOTE ] Try staring to the left of the image for awhile and using your peripheral vision. That's what got it for me the first time. On subsequent times, I can switch by looking at the girl's bottom foot. Just tell yourself that the bottom foot "rotating" is actually just a 2d image, so you can't tell whether the foot is pointing towards you or away from you. It's weird, because when she spins clockwise, she's standing on her left leg and when she spins counter, she's standing on her right leg. |

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
for everyone that can only see clockwise, i was once like you...
I know, i know, you look at and say "theres just no [censored] way it's spinning any way but clockwise, it's so clear, this must be a level." for me, i just kept wanting to see it counter clock-wise, i would close my eyes for like 2 seconds, open them visualizing her spinning counter clock-wise and bam, got it. it took me forever but seriously it works |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
FOR WHOEVER THINKS IT'S THE IMAGE AND NOT YOUR EYES/BRAIN
get a group of people together atleast 5 or 6 to be sure to have differences, and watch it at the same time. People will see different things at the same time. When I finally got it to switch, i grabbed my friend and he still saw it going clockwise, nothing special, he said... this thing absolutley baffles me |

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
I found that by looking at the feet, I can get my brain to see it spinning both clockwise, and counter-clockwise. Just look at the foot, and "see" it spinning clockwise. It's easy to picture because as one of the posters said, you can't tell by just looking at the foot which way it is spinning. It can be spinning either way. Then once you "see" her foot spinning that way, look at the rest of the body. That's how I did it anyway.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
First only clockwise. Few minutes later it changed and now it changes constantly for me.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
It refuses to go anything but clockwise. I tried absolutely as hard as I could to make it go counter-clockwise but it's not even coming close.
Edit: Stared at it for a full 120 seconds, nothing. This has to be a level, even though I read all of the replies. How can an image that's pre-rendered frame by frame to do 1 specific action look different for everyone. |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Okay,I honestly think the picture randomly switches from clockwise to counter clockwise. I see it go both ways.
|
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Only goes clockwise for me

Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
the secret is in her raised leg. if you are picturing her raised leg as her left leg, she's going counter-clockwise. if you're picturing her raised leg as her right leg, she's going clockwise.

[/ QUOTE ] everyone must have skipped over this post. the leg is never coming toward you or going away from you, but your brain imagines that it is. you can choose which way she rotates by deciding how you want to interpret the image in 3 dimensions. try pretending that when she gets to "sideways" she instantly switches the leg she's standing on. with a little effort, you can make it so she never turns her back toward you, she just bounces back and forth. |
Re: Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Try this. Sit back from your monitor a few feet and focus on the caption below the dancer. After a moment, her body will sort of zone out of, and it will appear like the leg is just rotating around an oscillating mass. Now, to me, the leg switches directions much more often once I've done this.
