CardRunners October Newsletter

A warm welcome to all readers of the Coaching/Training forum from the CardRunners team. StoxPoker has graciously allowed us to post our October newsletter in their forum. We hope you find it useful and encourage you to spend time researching all your training options to make a well informed decision about the best platform for your individual needs. Our thanks go out to the Stoxpoker crew for getting this much needed forum off the ground.

Here are our news and notes for the month of October.

NEW PROS

<ul type="square">[*] Cole "cts" South has joined our team of lead instructors and will be making regular NLHE and PLO videos exclusively for CardRunners. His first video was a $25/$50 NLHE multitabling video wherein he played headsup sessions versus Ozzy87 and Stevesbets/Glove85 as well as putting on a clinic in isolating and abusing a weak fish on his 6max table. Cole regularly plays under the name "Muckemsayuhh" on both Full Tilt and Ultimate Bet and is one of the biggest winners in poker since 2006.
[*] Ian "IanJ" Johns has signed on to begin making limit hold'em videos. Ian is a limit hold'em specialist whose regular game is $100/$200 online and up to $400/$800 live. Ian is also a bracelet holder, having won the $3000 limit event during the 2006 WSOP. You can find more information on him here: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index...26&amp;Itemid=2
[*] Fabian Sjoblom is our newest addition to our team of mid-stakes NLHE instructors. Fabian, a former limit hold'em specialist, has made the transition to mid-stakes NLHE in spectacular fashion. To see his remarkable results and learn more about his background, visit: http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index...27&amp;Itemid=2
NEW WEBSITE

<ul type="square">[*] CardRunners has released the most advanced set of Hand History tools available on the internet. In addition to offering easily readable HH's similar to PokerHand.org, our tools allow you to upload entire sessions , save them on our server, sort by pot size, biggest gains, etc. These hand histories will also automatically attach your opponents VPIP/PFR/AF statistics to all your hand histories.
[*] All members will now be able to start their own Poker Blogs similar to those written by Brian "sbrugby" Townsend and Taylor "Green Plastic" Caby at CardRunners. All member blogs will be hosted at CardRunners.com and are made a part of our official blog network allowing friends to view each other's blogs and see which member blogs are increasingly popular.
[*] Our newly coded website has dramatically increased the speed of all downloads and browsing. Forum pages will now load more quickly and videos may be downloaded at faster speeds from either our US server, or EU mirror.
Very happy with the "new" Cardrunners now that the kinks got knocked out, and glad to see some representation here also.

When should we expect another CTS vid - its been over 2 wks now? Surely we should be getting 1a wk like Brian, no?

Now that Cardrunners has so many people to do videos, I think that their plan is to have the small stakes pros make small stakes videos, MSNL make MSNL video, etc.

Since there's one HSNL video a week, it's probably going to rotate between primarily Cole, Taylor, Brian Townsend, and Brian Hastings.

IMO, it's extremely generous of stoxpoker to let CardRunners post their newsletter here as well as let people discuss the site. I think it really says something about the sites' integrity and values.

Cardrunners need more video demos and a list of archived videos before I would consider them.

Really dont like the new site everything seems so messed up. Used to luv to surf there and check what vids are new up etc, now its all a bit messy. Will hopefully be better one day again.

Needless to say that i would sign up any day again for cr very nice vids, improved my game so much.

Re: CardRunners October Newsletter

Since we do have 4 or 5 top quality HSNL instructors, we can't have a video coming out every week from all of them. I think Cole is on schedule for another video next Friday, but I'm not certain on that.

One of the things we've tried to do is assemble a large team of people making videos -- we want there to be as many perspectives as possible, and right now, there are roughly 15 people that are making videos on a consistent basis.

We are working on better organization of the new site. Also, I'll make sure we add some more demo videos.

Honestly, we have never done a good job "selling" our product. We have always let the quality of our videos speak for themselves and have never really went out of our way to "sell" people on it. Obviously, we need to do a better job of this, but I urge people to not take our word for it, and ask around about the quality of our service. You should do this regarding all training site options -- it's easy for CR, Stox, Deueces, etc. to tell you guys that we have a great product, but in reality our thousands of satisfied customers should be the most compelling reason to join.

I wouldn't be so fast to knock either of these two sites, they've been a tremendous help to a lot of players. Especially you, dying2win, you're just getting started with PAHUD and are probably at the stage where these guys can help you most.

also fraac if you want a list of videos there's hundreds of them, what kind are you interested in? NLHE? Cash or MTTs?

Why old members who have paid the sign up fee are charged it again when they start subriscribing again?

Gonso, I couldn't find the list on their site. Probably me. They still need more sample and demo videos before I would consider subscribing.

Plz Full-ring videos. Daut is the only one that was supposed to be good and a lot of his advice, IMO, sucked. We need perspective from someone not playing 12/8 but someone playing a 15+/11+ style.

Re: CardRunners October Newsletter

Card runners has helped me alot but I feel like Tay and co are misjudging what their members want. CTS was the big name that was supposed to appease the discontented crowd that was gaining in numbers - yet he has made one video in 3 weeks. The other new pro is Fabian and i'm not sure if it was his accent or just bad audio but I couldn't take any more and turned his vid off after 5 minutes. Add to the list Tufats average vids and you have a peeved member.

Todays vid, however, by Guest Pro Lent, could well be the final nail in the coffin, I cringe at the butchered AQ hand. After all the problems the "new site" has had you really should have concentrated on giving us quality vids by people we want!

You can turn the volume up in WMP by doing this:

"1. Open the file in Windows Media Player

2. Go to View -&gt; Enhancements -&gt; Graphic Equalizer (if you don't have the drop down menus of File, View, etc at the top of the player, just right-click on the title bar that says "Windows Media Player" and they will appear in a popup window and you can go from there)

3. The Equalizer will open at the bottom of the video screen. Move all of the sliders all the way to the top. After about a second, the audio will get much louder and be able to be heard clearly without having speakers turned all the way up.

4. To return to normal settings, bring the Graphic Equalizer back up, and you can either click on "Turn off" and that will be like moving the bars back to center, or click the word "Custom" (list of presets) and select "Default" in the popup menu and that will reset the bars. "

I apologize for my accent.

Dauts video gave good BASIC advice, b/c the vast majority of FR players on CRers are low/micro limit players.

I've been thinking about doing a FR vid, I have some thoughts which I think would help a lot of players. I also have more experience @ FR than any other "regular" on CRers.

Andrew is a pretty decent FR player, he plays a bit more agrro than traditional regs, IMO if any of the current pros make a FR vid, it should be him.

Fabian thank you for taking the time to reply. I will try that. Please do not apologise for your accent, as an Irishman who lived in England for 5 years I was constantly repeating things because of my own accent. I just couldn't tell if it was the sound or not. My gripe with card runners has little to do with you as this was your 1st vid.

SGspecial 10-19-2007 10:56 AM

Re: CardRunners October Newsletter

Is part of the diffculty with doing a FR video the fact that if you're only playing 15% of your hands that there's much less action to observe, esp. post flop?
