1/2 NLHE games in AC

I have about 10 vacation days left at work I need to take before the year ends. I plan on taking random days off on non-busy weeks to head down to AC and play some poker.

I've never been to AC so I was wondering where some good 1/2 NHLE games are on the weekdays. I'll be getting there around 10-11am and plan to play the entire day. Are these games always full early in the morning? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Tropicana has reasonable lists sizes and poorly played, beatable games. Decent enough room when it comes to navigation, etc. Otherwise, Borgata.

I have a 2 part/reply question.....

1. AC 1/2 games as a whole are pretty beatable. again, i dont have enough hours to quantify, only like 80-100, but I've seen easy tables at caesars and taj, and rocky (for 1-2) tables at Taj, havent been to borgata yet but from all peoples accounts it varies too and can table change to find drunken fools. trop pretty good too from what ive seen.

my question concurs with the OP. Lets say I wanted to take extended few month trip to AC and grind day in/day out for extra cash. Are 1-2 games like on a tuesday in october existent? are they just full of local typical weak-tight stiffs who wont pay anything off? or are still some action. I'm curious to see replies too, I'd have to think borgata has best action any time. You wont find great games weekdays anyway but maybe they exist decent to a certain extent though theyll never be summer weekend quality

I have not read any other responses yet.

Visit all of the room and see which one you like best.

One day visit the Taj and the Showboat. You can park for free with a member rewards card.

Next time visit the Trop and the Hilton.

Another time visit the marina area, Borgata and Harrahs.

I played at the Showboat this past Tuesday around noon and they had many 1-2 games going. I walked through the Taj around the same time and the Taj also had a lot of games going.

You will find action during the week.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

Borgata is certainly the nicest room and always has the action you are looking for. Just some advice though, is that the games get better the later in the evening and into the night it gets. And weekends are best. Sometimes during the day you will see a ton of weak/tight players, which while profitable are not nearly as profitable as drunk buffoons who are more prevalent the later and closer to the weekend it is.

That being said I have never played at the other rooms during the day on weekdays. Perhaps their "regulars" are more of the gambling moron types.

I'm going to check out Casesars and Trop. From reading some of the old threads, seems like these rooms are the easiest games. I'm going to check out Borgata too if I have some time just because everyone talks about how nice it is.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

Caesars has the BBJ which makes the drop 5 bucks instead of 4. Since the BBJ gets taken out at 20 bucks, if you win a 25 buck pot the drop is 3 bucks which sucks. That being said you might win the BBJ and be rich so who knows. Caesars does have the advantage of being centrally located on the Boardwalk and having the Pier which is nice. Caesars is my second favorite place to play.

awesome, thanks for the info man. What other casinos are located on the Boardwalk and do you recommend any other places around there? What's your favorite place? Borgata?

If I have it straight from North to South on the Boardwalk with poker rooms

Showboat
Taj
Caesers
Ballys
Trop
Hilton

About a mile from Hilton to Showboat

Trop and Taj have the biggest poker rooms.

If you are going to want to check out ceasars only for the fact that they have a BBJ i would encourage you to head over to Showboat instead. I was there a week ago and the BBJ is over 100k while ceasars was only at 30k. Most of the regulars that play at ceasars know this and have headed over to Showboat anyway...just my two cents

Caesars, Trop, Taj and Borgata are the major ones and all have beatable games. However it depends more on your table than on the casino. There are always some sharks mixed in too. Trop has not auto shufflers either.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

how many more hands per hour do you think the auto shufflers add?

Not to be a nit, but you forgot Resorts in that list. Yes, I know to some it is not a poker room, as they usually only have 1 table of 1/2 NL and 2/4 L, but it's still poker.

Sometimes on the weekend, they can get 2 1/2 NL games going.

It's actually about 2 miles from Hilton to Showboat, with Caesars as the middle. It is a 30 minute walk from one end to the other if you are a fast walker.

Don't go to the Sands, you won't get out alive.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

maybe five to eight...some people like them however. Plus the hand shuffle is not as good imo. The next hand I always see my cards on the flop that I had the previous hand far too often.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

yes that is true and the few times i have played there the competition was very soft because nobody thinks to go there.

I find it remarkable that the dealers are consistently able to deal your cards to the flop as opposed to the other players in the game.

Re: 1/2 NLHE games in AC

the point is that far too many dealers don't wash or shuffle well. If you don't believe me then go play at the Trop and certain dealers are like that. That is not a good thing it is a bad thing. That's a big reason why I like the auto shuffler.

I'm saying the way that you reach your conclusion that they aren't shuffling well is suspect.

ok...but if you shuffle 52 cards...then they come out the next hand with the same dealer...time after time...well...sorry

They plan on imploding the building in October. The Sands no longer has a casino.

I went to Showboat about 11 am on a Friday a couple of weeks ago and there were absolutely no cash games going, so I jumped into the 11 am tourney, instead. I busted out (set over set) about 30 minutes later and got into a 1/2 game that was just starting with a bunch of other early losers. It was a very good game until I had to leave about 7:30 that evening.
