AA in the Big Blind
There are only two player profiles in this hand, actually three if you include me, the rest fold on the flop.
Let me set the table. I am in the big blind in seat 3, I would like to think that I have a solid image, I am having a good session, I have about 4 racks of chips in front of me and I have only shown down winning hands. Seat 4 is a very nice man but a lousy poker player, he plays too many hands and goes too far with them. He is in the game for about two racks at this point. Seat 6 is an unknown, I have never played with him before and I believe he is waiting for a seat in a no limit game, so he may feel that he is slumming playing limit. He has only been in the game for about 15 minutes. Pre-Flop Seat 4, 6 and the button limp, the small blind completes and I raise, they all call. Flop is J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Small blind checks, I bet, seats 4 and 6 call, button and small blind fold. Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, seat 4 calls and seat 6 raises. I call fairly quickly but not before I notice that seat 4 is unhappy with the raise, the wheels are also spinning in my head as to seat 6's holdings. Seat 4 groans, mumbles something about 'donation' and throws in eight more chips River J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I .......... |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
I tend to prefer check/calling over bet/folding in large pots
|
Re: AA in the Big Blind
check and call one bet, fold if 4 bets and 6 raises or 4 c/r

Re: AA in the Big Blind
"I . . . . "
throw that losing hand in the muck? That 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the turn was a seemingly inocuous card for the guy to be raising on. I sure don't like your hand much here, but, since the pot is large, I suppose I would check and call a bet, check and fold to a bet and a raise. The problem is that if seat 6 had some silly hand like Q-7 or A-3 that you couterfeited on the river, that raises the chance that the "donator" had a jack. The more I think about it the more I think you're no good. |

Re: AA in the Big Blind
Maybe he folded the winning hand.

Maybe he folded the winning hand. [/ QUOTE ] That too...so it wasn't good in the end cause he played like a tard... |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
if seat 4 puts in any action on the river i dont think you can win, but since the river paired possibly counterfeiting i would check call seat 6 and pray

Re: AA in the Big Blind
Q-7 or Q-3 (not A-3).

Re: AA in the Big Blind
I really have no problem CCing here against an unknown. He could be getting stupid on you with AQ or KQ, or trying to make a play on you with an openended straight draw or some other strange hand. You said he in a NL player. That leads me to believe he could be a big fat http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/donkey_side.gif
I'm not really afraid of seat 4 having a J. I think it's more likely he has a Q tbh. Strangely enough, a lot of horrible loose players will fold their mid-pairs when it comes one more back to them on the turn, even when it may even be correct for them to draw because of the pot size and the situation. It's one of the few situations where these people have an opportunity to make "smart" laydowns, and it makes them feel good inside methinks. The exception is when they are royally stuck. |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
bet that river
if 4 raises, fold if 6 raises, call dont want that river getting checked thru |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
Andy,
In addition to agreeing with everything that you said I felt that the 7 clubs on the turn seemed to be an innocuous card. Jim |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
Hey Jim, long time. I hope all is well.
I'd bet. Given your image they will never try and raise bluff you off a hand, but will still pay you off. They will frequently check their counterfieted two pair though. |
Re: AA in the Big Blind
No limit guys often try to bluff or semi-bluff raise the turn. They don't get it that you can't raise enough to get people to fold if they have anything.
I'd think about reraising the turn, getting rid of seat 4 in the process and really finding out where you are. As played, I think checking then watching the action. Seat four probably bets out with his Jack. Seat 6 folds with nothing and then you are probably stuck calling. |

I didn't know if I liked that jack or not.
I called time and leaned back in my chair to try and get an unnoticed read on my opponents which I was unable to do. I thought that perhaps I had seat 4 beat however seat 6 gave me no feedback at all. I checked and it got checke through and MHIG. Seat 4 mucked without showing and seat 6 mucked Q 3 face up. Thanks for all the responses and input. Regards, Jim |
