also, you consider "sometimes" as "rarely" or "only once or twice" if appropriate

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

When I am losing, my sessions tend to be longer than when I am winning.

This is especially true if I'm down about 1 buy-in and I think I can "break even" if I stick around just "a little longer."

I play live, though, and my BR is only about 10x my buy-in. As a result, I won't stick around if I've been stacked twice in a row. I also don't stick around if the game has devolved into 5 or 6 tight regulars trying to out smart each other. In either case, I just come back another day and start over. It doesn't happen often, thank goodness. It's more frequent that if I'm experiencing a losing session that I'll hover around -3/4 buy-in for hours. And hours. And hours. How can it be 3 AM already? I have to go to work tomorrow...

Def move up in stakes and play long sessions when im really getting killed. Because of this my biggest losing sessions are always bigger then my biggest winning ones.

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

1 and 4 for me, although I am getting a lot better at 4. Also, 1 isn't really a problem for me because I am usually still playing well even if I'm down, so it doesn't really affect me.

Only 4 for me, really

tonight i was proud of myself for quitting

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

i do 1-4 a lot. havent flipped since like january although I think im +10k or so lifetime. rather than flip, I usually just 3bet a lot and bluffshove a lot and try and get stuck at least 15 buyins.

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

Last night for an hour I tilted very bad and anything A9 or better I shoved PF like a total maniac. The table knew I was tilting and the result was actually the best hour of the 10hr session.

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

sometimes when i'm losing i do somewhat dumb [censored] like just say screw it and crai the turn with a flush draw or a call a shorty's push with 44 without thinking enough about it.

but i'm pretty good about quitting when i'm losing, because losing usually leads to playing worse. it's more fear of regret that i lost money when i should've quit than it is fear of losing. my worst days are usually something like bad session in early afternoon, quit for two hours, bad session, quit for two hours, bad session, go to bed.

i like to do them all from time to time to merge my range of when i'm tilted and when i'm playing well

option 1-2 for me

i tend to play pretty well when im losing though ( im spewy enough when untilted so it doesnt show )

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

i play way longer when i lose/tilt. when im winning, i pick up on when i start getting tired or distracted from playing and i stop.

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

I quit this morning even though losing after I realized the games were bad, but that's unfortunately more of an exception than a rule.

I do play longer when losing, and try to get even. I try very hard not to check PT though while playing; sometimes after a long session I don't even know if I'm up or down until I check PT after having taken the blinds out and finished my last orbits.

I have once moved up 2x stakes when down, but I was taking shots there anyway and one of my favorite fish was playing.

I am getting more aggro when losing, but I don't think I'm getting terribly spewy. I will 3bet more, raise more, semibluff more, but given that I'm normally a 20/16 nit it cannot be that bad. I'll felt OP/TPTK hands even on pretty bad boards more though.

I never flip.

I pretend to be tilted in chat a lot though. Even though it's somewhat bad as exhibiting angriness leads to more tilt, I try to fool my opponents into thinking I'm monkey tilted and if they believe can chuckle and get untilted myself faster. I dunno if it made any sense.

1,3,4

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

1,4,5...But I'm more likely to be super tilty for 1 hand and lose twice as much if I'm bad beat. I only tilt for super limited time periods...but if I'm in a big hand on another table when I get bad-beat...I'm going to mess up the other hand.

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

Mainly just 4 for me. I don't play for long when I'm down since I know I'm playing like crap. The more I'm down the spewier I become.

1,2, sometimes 4 (but I've gotten better about logging out when feeling spewy)

usually just 1 for me

82Steve 09-26-2007 07:20 AM

Re: how tilty is normal tilty?

just no. 1, sometimes.
but this is probably more because i keep on playing to get my money back from some fish that rivered their 2outer, sitting in front of me w/ 2.5 buyins. i absolutely cannot quit then and give him the impression that he beat me.

just being down 1 or 2 buyins by being carddead or unlucky doesnt affect my session length most of the time.

3 and 4 sound really bad to me, and anyone who is affected, should probably visit the psychology forum from time to time.
