Sherman - no.

Well, that isn't exactly true. It's possible to bet your board as a bluff versus an opponent you are certain has you beat, but the opponent has to be capable of folding, say TTT, because he knows you'd never bet your board.

But generally betting your board is really, really, bad. Often, check-folding is best.

The slightly trickier spot is when you actually are full with trips on board.

Lots of times old guys who have been playing "all their lives" have zero game to speak of. I have found this to be especially true with stud games.

no. whatever he has, you'll have a big equity vs his range on fifth. if you know he'll keep betting (which he will), but will check if you raise 4th (which he will) you make more from waiting.

The time to raise 4th is if he's strong enough to reraise and bet into you again on fith.
