I fold a flush

Villain was 30/1/3 over about 60 hands but I didn't have any real reads.

CO: $235.98
BTN: $209.40

Preflop: Hero is dealt 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG calls $2.00, 3 folds, SB calls $1.00, Hero checks

Flop: ($6) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks

Turn: ($6) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB bets $4.00, Hero raises to $14.00, UTG folds, SB calls $10.00

River: ($34) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero bets $20.00, SB raises to $54.00, Hero folds

Pot Size: $108.00
Thoughts?
I was actually realy considering checking the river but the little man in my head kept saying that I had a flush and should bet so I did.

Checking the river would be bad. I think you played it well.

Yeah this is fine.

You can't semi-bluff the turn and then check when you make your hand!

I was thinking this but the fact that the river pairs the board changes things. I would've had no trouble betting a non-pairing flush card or a str8 card.

You can;t imagine a J raising 20% of the time???

I snap call this

PS i wish there were 1/2 as many threads in this forum asking "valuebet this?" rather than "fold this?"

If I had bet $20 on the rive, I would have to be committed to my cards (or I'd have checked). I call the $54.

Yep, trips is the nuts and it's pretty consistent with his line. I can't fold this for 34 more.

there's already $108.00 in the pot and its $34.00 more to call. You're getting 3:1 to call...i dont think a set or two pair that filled up on the river would play the flop and turn that way. Also, another flush is less likely (yes it does happen...but) because you hold one. I think this is trip jacks and worth a call.

Re: I fold a flush

Why would anyone consider folding given the action? 3-1 odds I expect to see a J here around 30% of the time. I call.
