POKERSTARS NOTE TAKING

i have a question, my notes on NEW players are not taking, once entered if i go back to the player a few minutes later, the NOTES ARE GONE, however if i put in a note on a player that ALREADY HAS NOTES, the notes get SAVED, why is this happening and how can i correct this??

Do you have a large amount of people you have notes on?

Are you running a vista machine?

If so run your pokerstars as administrators.

There should be another way around this. Running your OS as an administrator is inherently less secure. Good software does not require you to run as an administrator unless there is a legitimate reason for it.

See Aaron Margolis’s blog.

I'm pretty sure there was a game in high school where he had 10 or 12 tackles in one game. Amazing.

I once has this same problem. I e-mailed [email protected] and they replied saying i needed to send them the 'notes' file from the pokerstars folder. I did and they sent it back, told me to download it to the PS folder. It worked fine, i forgot what they said was wrong with it.

I am having the same problem.

Had this problem before and they told me to save the notes file. Uninstall - reinstall - and resave the notes file. That worked for a few days - now it doesnt work again.

In an old 2+2 post, Lee Jones specifically said (correctly) that running as an administrator is less secure. See point 8 in the following post:

Wouldn't having the file set to read only cause this?

You only need to run PokerStars as an administrator, not your entire OS. Indeed you should rarely run your entire OS as an administrator if you can help it.

Without elevation, Vista won't allow PokerStars to write to it's own directory in C:\Program Files (as that directory is protected by the OS). Since that's where your notes and settings files are stored, if PokerStars isn't run as an administrator those files won't be updated.

I know the software guys are working on this, which will probably mean that these files are moved to somewhere like 'Documents and Settings' as happens with many other programs.

At the moment, PokerStars should automatically ask for administrator permissions when you start it in Vista (ie. you'll have to click one of those annoying UAC prompts). If it doesn't, then make sure your shortcut points to PokerStarsUpdate.exe and not PokerStars.exe.
