Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

Can this be purchased ad infinitum? Assuming Supernova status simply crank out 100k FPP's and trade them in for $1500. Clear, earn, and repeat?

From what I've read the milestone bonuses at 200k, 300k, etc. VPP's can only be purchased once however.

So keep cranking out 100k FPP's and trading until 200k VPP's. Trade 50k FPP for 2k cash. Crank out more 100k FPP's and trading until 300k VPP and so on?

Yes. At SN, it actually works out that you get exactly 3 $1500 and a milestone bouns for ever 100k VPPs

It looks like this all ends on December 31st.....

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

Maybe. They had an end date before and then it got extended. I think around Nov we'll have a better idea about details for next year.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

im not sure why they would stop this. the reward bonus keeps money on their site (assuming most people dont just automatically cash out their bonus winnings) therefore leading to more rake. If they were to get rid of this, i would just end up buying iPods or something and selling them on ebay, and that money would never get back on their site. i understand their desire to stay away from rakeback, but i think the reward bonus is good from both ends

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

Well for one thing IPods save them money. Using the $1500 Bonus conversion rate a 160G IPod would cost you $405. Retail on that IPod is less then $350 and they don't pay retail for them.

I guess it comes down to seeing how much the bonus coupons cost vs how much revenue they generate. The $1500 coupon is the second best use of points so I guess Stars wants to commit to them only in 6 month increments.

If stars got rid of the $1,500 bonus, i'd be looking to play on other sites!

do you think PS would let me purchase 1.5k cash bonus with 100k fpp but not SN status yet if I ask?

Very unlikely. You can purchase the 650 bonus, though.

Do they make these exceptions all the time if you aren't platinum?

I think they do for non cash/special items. I did ask and they shot me down on the 1.5k bonus. It makes sense though it sucks.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

no it doesnt make sense and thats why i stopped playing there.
If I earn points at a slower rate than a supernova thats understandable. However resticitng what I can do with those points is unfair especially considering that for me getting to 100000 earns more rake for the site than a supernova who gets to 100000 points.

wtf why do you people waste money? you get .0162 cents per fpp with concierge service...in other words $1,620..NOT $1500

Henry17 09-30-2007 06:01 PM

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

If you are going to buy something anyway then yes I agree concierge is the way to go but I think quite a few people earn points faster then they generate receipts.

I was plotting out my October play in Excel today. There is no way I could spend that many points.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

cant you just get $1k gift cards to walmart and buy whatever you want? i have tons of points that are just sitting in my account because i have no idea what to spend them on.

Henry17 09-30-2007 06:56 PM

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

In theory you could but I don't know how many supernovas shop at Walmart. I know I've been in one twice in my entire life.

The extra 8% isn't worth having where you can spend the funds limited.

In theory I guess you could buy Pre-paid Visa gift cards and use them almost anywhere but those at least in Canada tend to have a lot of fees that would quickly eat into the 8%. They are also usually used by people with bad credit so there is that stigma which again is not worth 8%.

if you are cashing in a few of them a month, then you could be wasting 3kish a year

Henry17 10-01-2007 06:09 AM

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

The problem is that the reasoning doesn't make sense. If someone is making 4-5 of them a month then to cash them in as concierge they need to be spending $6k a month on stuff above and beyond their living expenses. In which case the extra 8% is meaningless to them.

The only way this would make sense is if someone was defrauding the concierge service and using receipts they collect from friends. I personally view that as dishonest and again an extra 8% wouldn't be worth it to me nor the shame of asking friends for the receipts.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

or you get to 60k fpp realized your sick of the stupid ranking system thats says you need 100000k vpp when you have 60000 even though you have 140 fpp
Thats when you tell pokerstars to go [censored] themselves, get some
oncecall.com gift certificates, buy a big ass TV and never play there again.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

Can you try explaining your issue better?

You post is hard to read and makes no sense. It seems to imply Stars stole base points from you which I don't buy since they haven't stolen them from any of the other 2000+ supernovas.

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

He's pissed he can't buy the $1,500 bonus because he has enough FPPs but does not have enough VPPs (Supernova status)

Re: Poker Stars $1500 VIP Reward Bonus Question

Wow. I'm impressed you could get that out of that post. The first sentence makes zero sense.
