I outplays him...

Villain is 22/17/2.8, light 3-bettor, so I called planning to float him but I also hit a piece...
I wonder if this is a standard turn bet.

Re: I outplays him...

I think checking turn > betting turn here. He might be going for stack-a-donk with an overpair and it puts you in a gay position when he raises. If he C/R's the turn with QQ+ you'll be getting about even odds to make a call so its not horrible but checking behind and calling a river bet on a blank and raising on 7,8,h is probably better.

I guess it depends on how often you think he'll fold 99-JJ

Re: I outplays him...

that turn bet size looks weird to me and it seems that if the villain is competent he will push over you
I like a check behind or a larger bet on the turn

I hate getting c/r'ed here. I prefer to check behind because we have a ton of outs now and might already have the best hand and we don't need to bet to protect it.

If you check this turn what is your plan on the river, how large of a bet will bet will you call on what card hitting? I prefer to just bet 3/4ths pot on the turn here as if you didnt hit the flop at all.

Re: I outplays him...

on the turn he has something about 200$ left so I would bet something like 75$ and call a shove obv.

Re: I outplays him...

Huh? We hit middle pair on the flop. And now we have a disguised flushdraw. I think this is well played if we check the turn.
Don't see what good betting does vs villains range here, unless we have a nitty & passive image he's prob not folding anything we beat to one bet.

I check, I like when he checks-shows AK UI and we win with second pair^^

I check it right back. Only purpose of betting is folding out JJ/TT and defending vs. AK.

Agreed, don't bet turn urb. Check, fold to >1/2 pot river bet if you don't improve.

See, my initial thoughts were to bet out here because that was are plan the whole way.

But, I do agree, checking and seeing the river is goot.

Outplaying him would be shoving the flop. Check turn.

Re: I outplays him...

Ya I like checking turn, I'm not neccessarily folding to a > 1/2 pot bet on river though. One of the main benefits of checking turn is to catch a river bluff which could easily be more than 1/2 pot. There are pros and cons to both turn actions but checking seems best, maybe the best part is that getting CR'd on turn really sucks.

I am 20/15, today I played like 17/13. Wouldn't you fold your 99-JJ to my turn bet?

Re: I outplays him...

Check turn. If your goal is to simply fold 99-JJ with a turn bet then you're too worried about a small part of his range. Snap off bluffs on rivers.

Yah I would, but with your draw it sucks to get checkraised. Plan is OK otherwise tho I still may check.

On the turn, bet/call is fine (fold out better, protect your hand, decent equity if shoved on). Checking behind is fine (just go ahead and take your card, maybe even stack him if you hit, maybe pick off river bluffs). I base my decision mostly on history/balacing/any detailed reads.
