How good is David Benyamine?
I play sometimes on FT so I check out he high stakes games. DB is almost always online multitabling 3-4 different kind of pokers on the highest possible stakes. Is he winning in all forms of poker? How can this be possible since most of his opps only play one table of their favourite game. He is amazing!

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
Judging from his online results he might be the best pot limit omaha player in the world, at holdem not so much.

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
I don't play at full tilt, and I can't comment on David's skill level there. However, I did play at hi stable during a couple of the tournaments at the WSOP this year, and he played fantastic. His reads were as strong as anybody, and he took full advantage of them. If he does lose online, then it must be simply that those players are tactically better than him, but that's not much of an insult at the levels he plays. Live, I doubt there are many who are better.
Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
i keep hearing this mentioned about certain guys
"great live, horrible online" there can be a few reasons for this 1. online players are much better than live players 2. online players play a different style that these guys dont match up well against 3. the ability to make physical tells play a big role in their live game 4. they have been running good live (@ 30 hands per hour this is the most likely scenario of these 4 options) |

It very well may be the case, but the fact that he 3-4 (minimum) tables different games and plays ridiculously long hours is a huge leak. I think in NL cash online he may be at a disadvantage but if he could plug some of his leaks he could prove otherwise. I don't think many people will argue though when combining live and online and all different forms of poker he is one of the best in the world. |

People keep saying that he lost online with no prove of that. All I can see is he's up this year on all of his accounts combine. Yes he does lost on NLH but his PLO result is huge. I think he's up over 1mil. FTP online this year so far. How could he be a loser?

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
It may sound a ridiculous question but do you think that guys like Benyamine, Gus, Mattusow etc actually track their results that welll. Do you think that they have Pokertracker for example, and can see that they are crushing Omaha, losing at NLH, or whatever? They can obviously, see their total by their balance, but it seems crazy to me that Benyamine for example would continue to play NLH.

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
The perception of DB is disorted by many. They try to extrapolate his online NLHE game to his poker ability as a whole. What these people forget is that NLHE is David's 4th or 5th best game.
I'd like to see some of the hotshot NLHE players sit down at a table full of the best players in the world at Stud, Omaha 8 or better, Stud 8, Razz, etc. They'd get their house cleaned, and would be certified fish. Although it may come as a surprise to many, a few more poker games exist besides HE. As far as *overall* poker ability, David is among the best in the world. By the way, one of David's leaks is that he doesn't eat while he plays poker (Neagreanu mentions this in one of his blog entries.) If he plays for 18 hours, he doesn't eat for 18 hours. Add onto that the fact that he multi-tables many types of games for obscene lengths of time (i.e., the dude has to be massively hungry and tired), I don't think he has his A-game working online anywhere near all the time. Given his robust girth, however, he must compensate (and then some!) for his lack of eating when he finally pulls himself away from the tables. |

Re: How good is David Benyamine?
Benyamine makes a ton of money online at PLO and loses a ton of money online at NLHE.
This doesn't necessarily mean he is bad at NLHE it just means he isn't +ev in shorthanded games vs aba/jman/durrr/cts etc. |

I have seen screenshots of David been a million dollar loser in the Limit games, but that was before a small upswing. At the same time people were saying he was million dollar winner in the limit section of the HORSE games. David is a big winner in the Omaha hi/lo games ~ 1 million. It would be great to see poker tracker stats for the other games, but I would have David as a 3 million dollar winner online this year. |
