I had 6 hands with this guy, so no reads. River is an easy fold to me. I was just reviewing my session and I have absolutely no clue what this guy has given his weak flop bet. So, what does he have here and what could I do to play this hand differently? |
Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
i see him having QQ+ or a set. Don't really like the flop raise, and I think we should fold turn

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
Fold pre-flop w/ out a read for me. As played, call flop, maybe turn depending on bet size. fold on river if he 3 barrels, again with no read.

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
Yea, I hear you about the fold and not raising flop, but this is me trying to loosen up my pf calling range, but I guess I shouldn't do that with KJ cause I'm crushed by AK or AJ. Basically it's part of me not wanting to be so tight and try to better play marginal situations. Ok though, thanks guys, point noted.

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
If you want to be less tight, raise more pots and don't call. If you are going to call a hand preflop in position do it with 86s or something that isn't going to be dominated.

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
Fold river, I put him on overpairs.
PF on the button you can call a CO raise with KJs no sweat. I like the flop raise to A) snap off cbets that may suck out B)define his hand if he has something |
Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
preflop is gross
if you raise the flop and call the turn you cant really fold the river, which is why the first two are bad. call the flop and go from there. |
Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
Preflop is ok. Call flop. Probably fold turn if he bets healthy. River is a clear fold.

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
I dislike pre-flop. Reraise or fold.
I hate the flop. Just call. Hand is f'd up by this point. If I played the hand like that I prolly call the river anyway even though he's got you beat a lot. |
Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
I like the reraise PF and bet flop in position, easier to get a read on villain and allows you to make better decisions IMO

Re: 10NL - KJs - What does this guy have?
I have to disagree with all these comments about just calling the flop. If you call the flop you gain no information about where you stand, what are you going to do when he leads out the turn for 2/3 of the pot? You can’t really fold because a lot of villains will make this play with 88-TT, so I prefer to raise the flop and find out where I stand so that I can make an easier decision later. If he has 88-TT he will often call the flop reraise then check-call the turn and the river. If he has you beaten with AJ or QQ+, he will reraise the flop or make a big lead on the turn as in this hand, in which cases you can confidently throw away your KJ before the pot gets too big.
It’s fair enough to just call the flop if you think you know your opponent well enough to fold in later streets, but since there’s no info on this villain you really have to find out where you are – you don’t know if he’s the kind of person who will valuebet A6 here or if he’s a TAG who hasn’t played a hand for 5 rotations. |
