Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
John Persson, aka Striker10/Orion/Cripolli was involved in the following situation:
Sherkhan Farnood has just received a five-hand penalty for collusion. From pokernews: ~~~In a three-way pot with Istvan Novak and Jon Persson he was the last to act. The action went check-check on the river so Farnood checked also. He turned over the nut flush and there is now a very very big debate going on as to whether that is collusion. Tony G wants him to have a longer penalty. Farnood claims he didn't realise what he has. Persson has one chip.~~~ Anyone have any more details? Farnood was chip leader 6 handed and got 6th. Persson double doubled that 1 chip but busted on final table bubble. |

Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
and if hes chipleader its not an obvious cheat.
if 1 guy has 1 chip it could possibyl allow the chipleader to steal a lot if making the final table mattrs a lot to the guys or the jump in prize money is very big. |
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
I don't think you can ever catch a colluder on one hand alone. You need more than that, and you ideally need to be seeing their holecards all the time.

Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
i heard gus hansen at the main event this year say that if you are last to act and check the nuts it is an automatic penalty.

Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
Online a guy can just click the wrong button by accident though...
|
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
I had a dream not long ago where i got caught 'colluding' by letting a short stack survive on the final table bubble just so i could mug the other players.
Checking the nuts and letting a short stack survive is not clear cut collusion. Fwiw, ive no idea what this case is, any previous "notorious cheat" stuff or anything, but in a general sense letting short stacks survive is a very valid strategy in the right situation. |
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
Advanced slow playing technique -- a lot of you more noobish posters wont understand, but it's much more deceptive than checking OOP. Also great for meta game, because the next time you check behind on the river they may just muck their hand, assuming you have the nuts again.

Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
Persson just took $40k from Gus playing O8 $1k/$2k heads up on FTP.
|
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
this is not collusion. it's an advanced strategy.

[ QUOTE ] Backstory to "notorious online cheat"? [/ QUOTE ] rumors have swirled for awhile that striker 10 might cheat in the big o8 games on ps [/ QUOTE ] That's not a rumor, and one of his accounts was locked from Party for cheating the 1k single tables. Zeejustin is a Chior Boy compared to him. Ironically ZeeJustin knew the extent of his cheating in party sitngoes and complained. Cheating is bad enough, but he's done a lot worse to people than just cheat online poker. I also received reliable information that Farnood in fact had 10% of Persson from an earlier swap at the table. There is no doubt this was collusion. I just wonder whether the details as they played out are in fact true. |

[/ QUOTE ] You would be correct as it is a common tactic in STT play, but the caliber of player Farnood is dictates he would not understand this at all. Given that he also had a percentage of the player involved it constitutes collusion. Both players should be disqualified. |
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
Wait, why should the short stack be DQ'd? Cause someone checked the nuts behind him? This is pathetic if the short stack gets DQ'd for someone else's play who has 10% of him.

Because they are both cheating? DUCY? If I take an illegal drop unknowingly in the open, and my best friend who is my playing partner and marker who knows I incorrectly dropped and doesn't say anything...does that mean I shouldn't get disqualified just because my marker signed off on my card? I think with your logic ZeeJustin is a honest guy who only cheated a little and accidentally so it is no problem. |

So for an example when he is playing three handed with Gus and Benyamine like he has done recently, how does he cheat? [/ QUOTE ] Well for one, he lends his account and it might not be him playing. Not sure if that's outright cheating though. It probably was him playing if it was 1-2 o8. He made all of the money he had from scamming people. He can't win longterm without cheating. It is a good thing he is talented at it. He's certainly a superstar in his own realm of scamming. |

Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
what is colluding?
is it colluding if you check the river with the nuts in hope of check raising? is it colluding if you misread your hand and check behind on the river with the nuts? is it colluding if you check behind on the river with the nuts because the opponent is a good looking girl/a funny guy and therefore you wanna keep him in the game? is it colluding if youre just too stupid to play poker properly with the nuts? what if its the bubble, you have a big stack and you decide not to play hard against a really short stack opponent so that the smaller stacks will have to battle each other? |
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
Yeah, couldn't the guy just bet and use some code to tell the guy to fold?
|
Re: Notorious online cheat caught colluding in WSOP PLO?
The only thing that makes sense to me is his buddy didn't have a better hand than the third person in the pot. If the dude with one chip had a better hand than the other guy in the pot I think you muck the nuts to get some chips to your friend. But the other dude must've had a better hand and so he had to turn over the nuts.
