I'm not folding here. KK is unlikely b/c he flat called out of the SB. He may have a combo draw, which we obviously own.

We're ahead of may too much to be folding

Isn't Kd Jd Td Kh worse? hurts the back door straights! At work, can't access two dimes ;p

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

Against a set we're really drawing to 1 of 7 effective outs (mediocre draw).. against a tight player a fold is on order, even tho it's tough... bottom 2 here is really an illusion of a stronger hand, but in reality, most often in this spot, it'll only give you little protection, holding 2 of his lock outs...

edit: even tho I think a fold might be correct (this is of course read dependent), I don't think I could do it, except against a total nit...

Nope, 7d8d makes str8 flushes as well as using up flush outs.

your going with this hand.
what you need to ask really is --should i have opened utg for a big raise with it.

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

Four handed anything else would be awfully weak.

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

it has to be at least a set here surely? what else can he raise the max with, he may be aggro but he isnt stupid enough to raise with just flush draw

wazz 09-08-2007 11:28 AM

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

At least a set? LOL. Can he never have a draw here? This is an instashove.

SuperSnort 09-08-2007 11:32 AM

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

i severely doubt it as he doesnt have nut flush draw and i just couldnt see someone making this play wihtout one or the other

wazz 09-08-2007 11:41 AM

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

Why do you 'severely doubt' it? The K is not a diamond so there's no reason whatsoever that villain isn't thinking 'he may have just AA or be making a c-bet so I'll take him off his hand with plenty of outs', like Kx89 with the k-high flush draw? He really doesn't need the nfd in his range of draws to be making this move with just a draw. The guy is prescribed as a regular as well, so he doesn't just checkraise with sets. Which is noobish, in case you didn't know.

You should fold you don't have the nuts.

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

interesting how everybody says a shove is oh so standard, but... if you know your opponent ans are about 80% sure he has a set, a fold would be the only right thing to do... seriously, one who's able to fold in this spot.... Respect!

piiop 09-08-2007 09:16 PM

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

yes, poker is easy when you know exactly what your opponent has every time

original_red 09-08-2007 09:26 PM

Re: bottom 2 + NFD

some (not that few) opponents is not hard to have an 80% read on...

situational, our guy has a set here almost always, and I love the ability to fold in this spot, and I wish I had it.... again.. respect to the one who can!

cause being all in on a draw you figure has 7 outs obviously is super spew.....

I think it's pretty clear you should. You have position on the 2 guys most likely to be in the hand.
