HALO 3.....INVESTMENT?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how Microsoft will supply Halo 3. I'm thinking the demand should be pretty great, and if Microsoft undersupplies the game (do it with consoles all the time), it may be worth it to reserve some extra copies now when you still can and sell them for a nice profit. If you know anything about the situation or have an opinion one way or another I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

P.S. if this is in the wrong forum, please put where it should be

You won't be able to sell Halo 3 copies for above retail price, at least not by enough to make a substantially profit.

The reason Nintendo, MS, and Sony undersupplied their consoles is that there is a finite supply of chips to make the consoles. Games are merely DVDs. The number of DVDs they can make is, for practical purposes, unlimited.

Plus, MS will be making so much money on Halo, that there is no reason for them to create a "buzz" by artificially selling out of the game.

The only worry is that your local Best Buy/Circuit City sells out. Even if they do, check out WalMart/Target/Toys R Us, etc. (Even that is unlikely, Best Buy doesn't want you leaving their store empty handed.)

I find it unlikely they will sell out with all the versions available. I don't see the $130 Legendary version selling out too quickly. That price is just insane.

Pretty sure you can make a killing on this if you flip them fast enough.

The only game I can think of that was tough to get was Zelda for the N64. Even then, it was quickly available a few days later.

I can't recall a single game that was out of stock for any meaningful period of time. As said above, it's just a matter of printing off a DVD. There is no technology bottleneck that limits the quantity.

Unless one is in a small town, there will be plenty of copies available.

supply and demand? they might limit quantities in stores to increase demand. If everyone thought there were going to be plenty of copies, who would line up outside of gamespot at midnight before release date?

Artificially limiting the supply will not benefit the businesses involved in any way. They want everyone who wants this game to have a copy as soon as possible.

Especially considering Halo is a franchise that can sell systems and XBox Live memberships to people that currently don't have them.

Firstly, it's a game. Artificially limiting supply doesn't work similarly to technology. More to the point, demand for this game simply cannot get much higher. They would be hurting potential sales of systems if they limited sale of the game.

I agree with what has been said so far, Microsoft has no reason to understock this game. Halo 3 probably has the biggest buzz for a single video game in history. Creating a shortage just doesn't make any sense.
