thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player linking!
I am posting this with the permission of ZBT.
So, a few hours ago, the BLUFF developers and I finished up a production-ready version of the latest incarnation of thepokerdb. While we re-did a bunch of features for our March 2007 release of v2.0, we didn't really *add* too much. This time we added a bunch of things, all of which I think MTT posters will find to be pretty valuable. 1. Hand History Paster You can get to the HH paster along the left navigation of thepokerdb pages. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/hhpaster1.jpg Once you click the table lookup link, you can paste a hand history from PS, PP, FTP, AP or UB into the form. I pasted a Stars HH from the Wed. $150K Guar in the following screenshot: http://www.natarem.com/newdb/hhpaster2.jpg Once you click lookup players, you'll see the names appear in the gray area to the right of the form. In addition, the table will follow you around the site for the remainer of your web browser session on the left hand side. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/hhpaster3.jpg You can paste a new history at any time or continue to use the links from the first history. We plan on increasing the functionality of this tool to allow users to paste multiple histories and store them all for the browser session on the left navigation. 2. Four new tabs, one more to come I'm personally really excited by this functionality. The filters are pretty powerful and can really breakdown someone's game in a way that was a pain in the ass to do before this tool was created. First, we added a few columns on the Summary tab to give you a quick look at someone's results across different types of tournaments. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/tabs1.jpg In addition, you can click on any of the 4 sub tabs to get a better breakdown of the player's performance in that category. We've modified each tab slightly to make it as relevant as possible to the tournament type. For instance, the HU tab shows 3-4th as the same placing instead of giving credit for top 3 or something that doesn't make much sense. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/tabs2.jpg Here's where the filters come into play. You can click on the buyin/game type tab and select "HU" in the filter. This lets you see a summarized version of how the person reached the numbers you see on the HU tab. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/tabs3.jpg In this case, you can see Ansky luckboxed his way to a cash in one of those high stakes 10K HU things. Lastly, if you want to see a detailed view of the aforementioned HU events, you can go to the results tab (the filter will follow you from page to page so you won't need to select it again) and see the listing of HU events played in even greater detail. http://www.natarem.com/newdb/tabs4.jpg 3. Player Linking The last main feature included in the v3.0 release is player name linking. This allows players to let us know their names on various sites (kinda like P5s) and will allow us to perform global rankings. The accounts management page is linked in the main nav on the left: http://www.natarem.com/newdb/accounts1.jpg Once on the page, you'll probably see 6 blank boxes. You can fill in as many or as few as you'd like. The primary site isn't really too important. Here is what it looks like once filled out: http://www.natarem.com/newdb/accounts2.jpg Each name will be validated to make sure that it's a real name that has played a tournament. In addition, names, for obvious reasons, cannot be used more than once. Once linked, when someone looks up any of the linked names, the others will appear for easy cross-site lookup: http://www.natarem.com/newdb/accounts3.jpg In addition, where available, we are linking to players' live statistics. Anyway, that's it! There are a few more small improvements that I haven't listed, but you'll find them on your own as you browse through the site. Let me know if you have comments, questions, etc. -Nat |

Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
oh yea, shaun reminds me of something else to note:
We've been tracking MTT SNGs since March of 2007. Therefore, the MTT SNG #s won't be quite as complete as sharkscope, but will become more and more relevant over time. |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
at first I thought you meant something from when we met at tsone then I realized you meant mike,
tell me where I can send since I don't have a CC or debit card. Yah I know I suck for not having them. |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
i think it would be great if you could click a button to aggregate a player's stats after all the aliases are listed.
is that in the works? |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
Yes, that is in the works.
I expect that will be released along with the functionality that will allow multiple pasted hand histories to be stored in the navigation sidebar. |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
cool. the table look up thing is fantastic
one thought on it, when i did it, i clicked on "table look up" itself expecting that to be the link, rather than having to click on the explanation below. great job on the updates. |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link

Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
Thanks guys.
So we have the following improvements on the way... 1. Completed rankings tab 2. Global stats for linked names 3. Custom rebuy factors on a per player/per buying level/per user basis 4. Multiple table functionality for the HH paster 5. A "Delete All" button for Buddy Alerts on the "Personal Dashboard" page 7. Maybe some more sites... 8. Graphs of things like profit over time Is there anything else MTTc would suggest? Or has anyone found any bugs with our new system? |

Can you shoot me a PM about where to send some cash on Stars of FTP - its worth it even for my own stats, let alone all the other nice looking features. Hell, the upcoming tournament thing is worth the cash alone, i hate trying to keep track of stuff thats about to start. /shill |

Is there anything else MTTc would suggest? Or has anyone found any bugs with our new system? [/ QUOTE ] You've got a stat for average finish normalized for 100 runners. I'm not sure how that gives you any usable information that you wouldn't figure out from the other data available. I like OPR's way of reporting this. If you aren't familiar with it they show the percent of finishes broken down by five bands. They are early (the first 10% of the field), early middle (the next 20%), middle (40%), middle late (20%) and late (the top 10%). I believe these numbers coupled with observation can tell you alot about a player's style. For example that guy who appears to be a maniac might actually be one (if he almost always goes out early to middle). Then again he might be a super tight player on a rush (usually goes out in middle/middle-late) or a lag who likes to go big or go home (goes out early more than the norm, but a lot of late finishes and a high ROI). |
Re: thepokerdb v3.0 released: HH paster, tabs, filters and player link
Yea, I've thought about converting to that type of finish system. I'll bring that up next time I speak with the developers.

Hrmm, I guess something got [censored] up way back when.
I wonder if we can somehow get UB to send us the results so I can put it in... |
