Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
I'm watching "poker after dark" last night (east coast 2:05 am NBC) and i see Benyamine to the far left in a striped red and white full tilt poker shirt. I can see he has gained some weight since i saw him on season 2 of the world poker tour just by the rounded cheeks and lower neck area. Well then the camera does a pan-around of the table and i see a full body profile of Benyamine. All i have to say is this many is seriously overweight. Not morbidly obese or anything, but he has a tremendous amount of girth, around his midsection. Recent studies show, waistline girth is more of an indicator of current and future health problems than overall weight. This guy was a tennis pro! How in the world did his metabolism slow to an absolute hault to this extent? If i had to put Benyamine on a list of out of shape poker players, with Raymer, Benymine and Lederer on the list I'd have to rate them as such:
1. Benyamine 2. Wayne Newton (I've seen him in poker rooms) 3. Lederer 4. Raymer Although Raymer is bigger, he is huskier and his overall weight is distributed more evenly as oppossed to just his waistline area. Lederer has had obvious previous weight problems and doesnt appear to be taking great pains to keep the weight off now. This pic from the website doesnt do it justice but watch the show tonight before he gets knocked out (looks inevitable) and look as the size of his shirt (probably a XXXXL) and the size of his waist. An unhealthy man indeed. http://www.pokerafterdark.com/player...avid_Benyamine |

well when you sit on your ass for 25 hours a day you can get pretty fat [/ QUOTE ] the strange part is in that episode, he said he didnt want to go to a world class boxing match (de la hoya/ merriwether?) because he "couldnt sit there for 3 hours"...uhh david, dont you have upwards of 15/18 hour poker sessions? |
Re: Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
merriwether?
Jesus I wouldnt go see that either. |
Re: Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
It's a little different watching people do something and playing for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The latter is more exciting, I'd expect.
In any case, I don't see how any of these people's weight problems, whether they have them or not, are our business. |
Re: Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
Nick Varner, just because he doesn't want to see two people beat the [censored] out of each other doesn't mean he can't sit in front of a computer for 20 hours and play nose bleed poker. Guarantee that shirt is not 4XL either.

David Benaymine's weight problem???
WTF. What kind of a post is this? Do you want to ask him if he hires you as his personal trainer or what? Why do you care about his weight? |

Re: Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
mark my words as poker continues to boom in popularity a major poker star will have health issues due to obesity and lack of exercise and you will see this issue of 'unhealthy' poker players come to the forefront I really hope that pic of Doyle and chip is doctored because that is embarrassing no offense to their skills at the table

He is probably the best defensive boxer on the planet, but has no power or offensive threats whatsoever. A talented, nasty brawler like Ricky Hatton would probably beat the crap out of Floyd, if Floyd would get within 10 feet of him. Hell, De La Hoya almost beat him, and he isn't even a boxer any more. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree he's not exciting to watch, but he has a pretty strong case for best boxer in the world. He's #1 on Ring's list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_Ma...ound_for_pound [ QUOTE ] A talented, nasty brawler like Ricky Hatton would probably beat the crap out of Floyd, if Floyd would get within 10 feet of him. [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately for Hatton, there's no "within ten feet" rule, which is part of why Floyd is a big favorite for their December fight. |

BTW he's not the most defensive, that would be Jermain Taylor |

President Bush was profiled as an athlete in Runner's World magazine. ------------------------------------------------------ Poker is no different than any other job where you sit around a lot. At-home trascriptionists, for example, not only sit down all day at work, they don't even have to leave their house to do it. However, since poker is a sit-down job, Daniel N. has made the point that it's necessary to make time, every day, to work out and keep in shape. If you think that's impossible with the long work day of a poker player. consider that President Bush makes the time every day, and until recent knee problems (he now concentrates on bike riding), he ran a 5K in around 20 minutes at age 56. If you think you have less free time than the president to stay in shape, then you're the king of excuses. By the way, to put the president's condition in perspective, look at race results in your local newspaper, age 50 and over. We're talking 99th percentile here. Anyone else have an excuse that they're too busy? |
Re: Poker After Dark - David Benaymine\'s weight problem
I was surprised to find out that Benyamine is a tennis player altho he said he hasn't played since he was18. Fortunately, Doyle Brunson isn't near as large any more as he is in that picture. Apparently he even plays golf. But, isn't Mario Traniello Jennifer Harmon's husband? He's looking a big chubby-faced himself since they first got married.

Mayweather is easily the best boxer in the world despite his defensive stance. No one can name another boxer who is better. Get a clue. |
