Would it have been entrapment if the cop had asked for money?

I wonder if he has to register as a sex offender?

Then also is the republican tied to McCain's campaign in Florida (a state senator) arrested for soliciting to provide oral sex still to come.

Seems the holier than though GOP is, well, quite .....

What's that tv show that has pedophiles show up for sex? THey should team up with Larry FLynt and do a sting in Hart. Tapping the right foot is some kind of closet gay signal?

It's so easy to call people a bunch of closet cases when they think things like gay marriage should be national issues or something worth electing a president over (especially during a time of 'war'). Who'd have figured it wasn't just mudslinging after all.

Here's a shock:

2004 Senator Craig supported the interests of the Family Research Council 100 percent in 2004.

We have anyone here out of the closet willing to say anything about the right foot tap? Not that I will be paranoid the next time I use a card room's bathroom, or at sports stadium, but I want to know if someone is trolling for "a good time" without calling the number on the stall.

WTF! Once upon a time, I used to play drums. I constantly have a tune in my head and tap my foot repeatedly, most likely even while taking a dump in a public restroom. Thank God I haven't been arrested yet!

This guy is clearly a big hypocrite, but I do love the sweeping generalizations you make about entire groups based on his actions.

Come to think of it, last night after I saw this story on the news about a black guy who robbed a liquor store. But I guess if I make generalizations based that would be bad.

It's not just this guy. Look at the ratio of conservative/'moralistic' political figures who want to preach their ethical insight, but at the same time have been busted in very unethical (by their preached standards) behavior. And this is only the people that are being caught.

Re: Republican Senator pleads guilty to lewd conduct in a men\'s room

There are plenty of liberal politicans who have incidents like this as well, but the hypocrisy element isn't as poignant with them. When the mayor of San Francisco admits having an affair, everyone is like "Eh, San Francisco." but when a conservative in a rural state who has built his carear on "values" does it, it's much bigger story and gets alot more press.

And this thread is nothing but an righty vs. leftie circle jerk and really belongs in poltics as it has no real bearing on gaming legislation.

Frankly it’s becoming more and more obvious that there’s a segment of the Republican Party whose main motivation in politics appears to be making laws that are an attempt to keep themselves from their particular dysfunctional behaviors.

We saw it with Mark Foley, who actually introduced legislation to punish the kind of behavior he engaged in. And strongly anti-gay Republicans like Ed Schrock and Jim West have supported and even pushed anti-gay legislation as they sat quietly in their closets.

To be fair, it was more than foot tapping. That being said, is it a crime, I'm not so sure. It is fun to watch him squeal that "HE IS NOT GAY" though.

--------------------------------------------------

Minutes later, the officer saw Craig gazing into his stall through the crack between the stall door and the frame.

After a man in the adjacent stall left, Craig entered it and put his roller bag against the front of the stall door, "which Sgt. Karsnia's experience has indicated is used to attempt to conceal sexual conduct by blocking the view from the front of the stall," said the complaint, which was dated June 25.

The complaint said Craig then tapped his right foot several times and moved it closer to Karsnia's stall and then moved it to where it touched Karsnia's foot. Karsnia recognized that "as a signal often used by persons communicating a desire to engage in sexual conduct," the complaint said.

Craig then passed his left hand under the stall divider into Karsnia's stall with his palms up and guided it along the divider toward the front of the stall three times, the complaint said.

The officer then showed his police identification under the divider and pointed toward the exit "at which time the defendant exclaimed `No!'" the complaint said.

The Aug. 8 police report says that Craig had handed the arresting officer a business card that identified him as a member of the Senate.

"What do you think about that?" Craig is alleged to have said, according to the report.

Are you suggesting that on THIS issue (public gay behavior), the Repubs and Dems have the exact same ferocity? I respectfully disagree. I'm not a Dem nor a Dem supporter, but I don't know a single Dem or Libertarian who favors aggressive prosecution of acts by homosexuals that would be otherwise "not lewd" if committed by heterosexuals. On the other hand, a sizable percentage if not overwhelming majority of my Republican friends would have no problem with this action, and would endorse it.

First, I still am not sure how this is a crime. Any politician who favors arresting people for tapping their toes or other similar activities is bat [censored] crazy.

As far as the main question about these types of laws against public sexual activity (defined broadly). I remember watching a show a while back on A&E featuring the San Francisco P.D.'s vice squad. They had about a half dozen cops on the streets trying to arrest hookers and johns. In a very liberal city, they were out spending valuable money and police time arresting people who wanted to have sex.

The reason I think Democrats are as bad if not worse than Republicans on this issue is because some Republicans actually believe in these stupid laws. I think a lot of Democrats privately would favor repealing these laws but won't say so for fear of political fallout. They are guilty of being total cowards. Major props to any politician who would step forward and say, "It is a major waste of time and money to arrest prostitutes and johns. Let's legalize it." Maybe one day a major pol will have the courage of their convictions, but I am not optimistic.
