hh review groups- anyone interested?

okay i posted a while back to ask if hu had anything like lim's hh review groups. since no one said anything and none of the admins said it was inappropriate to post about i thought it might be good for the community.

that being said i'm gonna take the initiative of trying to organize one.

i'm specifically talking about newer players to intermediate. this forum lacks a lot of the really basic stuff and hu is such a drastic change from a lot of people's normal games i think this would be useful. so if you're interested post or pm me and i'll try to set up groups of like 4-6 that can work together to figure out how to improve or in some cases identify leaks. if there's enough interest i think this could be really good, and also if you pm me or post mention what general catagory you fall into, listing both stakes and if you're completely new or have experience but are tying to improve or if you're a solid player trying to become competitive or even semi-pro. this will make it easier to group people in ways that they will be with others who aren't in completely different situations/leagues. thanks and i hope this proves useful and isn't something no one wants. (if it is something no one wants, sorry to make the post and waste space.)

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

I'd probably be interested. I'm playing low-stakes (mostly $5, hopefully $10s soon) HUSNGs.

I've lurked around various 2p2 forums for a long time, learning mostly 'about' poker as opposed to learning 'to play' poker.

Trying to rectify that by getting more involved. I'd love to be socially pressured into doing thorough session reviews consistently.

Feel free to PM me if you need any help organizing this.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

I would be very interested!

So far I have played 150 5,25$ HUSNG's on Stars with a 58.7 % winrate! Obviously I have to improve before moving up to the 10,50's. One thing I have to say: I'm from Germany and my english isn't very good. So I would prefer to write rather than to speak with other people!

Please pm me ...

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

well leader if there's interest then yes, but if there's only one limit player then i don't think the other people would know as much about what they should change/benefit much from working with them. i was thinking i'd try to get stuff started by the end of the week. that way there will be a few groups to put together. so far there's enough for at least one sng group and hopefully we'll get more cash game players to start a cash group or two.

also verte i was thinking this is how most things would operate b/c i know that people would have very different schedules. I.E. i'm in college so i have a few hours here and there to make notes on hhs and then send them back but am prob not free most of the time that people with real jobs are going to be free, so i don't think language will be a problem.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

I think this is a good idea, I would personally be very interrested aswell.

I play HU-SNG, $11 + $22 turbo - Somewhat new to HU SNG.

I think it's a great initiative that can help people become more active in their learning process, and hopefully speed it up for many of us.

Looking forward to see if there is enough motivated people to get this up running

Ya, I'd do it, I usually play $20-$50 NLTRN games depending on mood. I might make a video instead of an HH since I just downloaded Camstudio.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

yeah i think videos would be great also, i didn't mention them b/c i'm currently running on a mac and won't be able to make vids until i either spend the money for a video capture program or use boot camp and a bootleg windows os to just do it on a windows freeware instead. but for all who have camstudio or somthing similar talk with your group and feel free to do vids instead. i think i'm gonna start doing groups tomorrow and should have everything posted and some ideas for smooth transitions by wed. (i've got a paper to write tonight or i'd have the first groups up by tomorrow.)

Yes to limit. I'm a complete HU noob.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

An additional thought:

Like so many others, I've decided to set up a blog to track my progress - I know it's laughable, but I feel it's a worthwhile endeavor. There's something about the potential of other people seeing it that adds a little more motivation to kick ass into the mix.

I'm posting all my HH's there from now on (unless I get so good that having them up there is a liablity) - I plan to review each one as thoroughly as possible and welcome others to do so as well. If you check it out, feel free to rip my play to shreds (which shouldn't be too difficult).

Back to my additional thought: if a bunch of HUSNG aspirants were to blog our HH's in this fashion, we could easily do HH session reviews at everybody's convenience, as opposed to placing the logistical burden on one person (or a few persons, as the case may be) to organize groups. Session reviews and questions, allowing for greater contextual analysis, could really offer something that's not quite within the scope of this forum due to space and noise considerations.

I just thought I'd throw my $.02 in - if you're interested, just go start a blog and post some HH's. Let people here know about it, and we can start a blogroll community with 2p2 as its nucleus.

I'll do it.

Mainly playing 0.5/1 NL HU cash.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

I like the blog idea. I currently already have a blog that I have had for the last year but I could simply start posting the hand histories up for people to see. I emailed Cashius Clay yesterday about exchanging histories, but I think the blog idea is better.

Good one!

I will start posting from now on.

I'd love to swap sessions with an experienced HU NL cash player. I play 400NL but I'd love to trade with anyone who plays 100-600.

Jiganti 08-28-2007 12:06 PM

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

Raze, sounds like we could do something. I've been playing mostly 600nl and 1000nl, with a little 400nl. I typically don't track my UB stats because it's a hassle, but if we agree upon something, I can go ahead and record a session. I played NL SnGs on Stars (220s and 550s) with a pretty good winrate of like 10% ROI over 230 or 240 games. But right now I'm an exclusively HU cash player.

Re: hh review groups- anyone interested?

okay i think people have already started working out trades and stuff with people and i like the idea of using blogs instead of trading hhs as this makes the info more available to noobies.

Stauss and Juka you're pretty new but i'd love to work with you to practice explaining things and see how much i actually understand and can explain.

other than that there are four people interested in hu cash, work it out with each other you don't need random groups.

there are also a few in the 20ish range so hedz up,kall, OGS and phatjeff you four should work out what works best with each other.

as for the 6s and 11s i thought pokercurious,arch_angel(me), and verte for group one, and cashius, knight, and bbb for group two. pm me or whoever you want and hopefully we can get started this week and after a while trade out and work with other people.

summary- everyone's already using common sense and seems paired up so i don't really have much to say to everyone but have fun and gl.
