Hotels a bit away from foxwoods

I checked out hotels on hotels.com for Ledyard, CT and they are all quite pricey for tomorrow night. Im driving from NYC so I was hoping to find a hotel somewhere in the area, Id be willing to drive some, so that I can stay the night and then play again on Sunday afternoon/evening and then drive home. Obviously Im looking for price. Thanks.

Check if the Marriott in New London has a discounted weekend package. It is right off the highway and a short drive to Foxwoods. I have stayed there a few times and never had a problem.

If you want cheap, sketchy motels you could try groton, ct. It's about 20min away down rte 212. There's Super 8, Howard Johnson's, Knights Inn, etc.

Motel 6 in... East Lyme? New London? I forget exactly, type in New London.

It's still expensive for a M6 but cheaper than anything else I've found there, and about 20 minutes down I-395 to the first or second exit on I-95 after the merge.

Theres a Best Western in Mystic, it never says there are rooms on BestWestern.com, but if you call the hotel directly you can usually get a good rate

Its a decent place

Hilltop Inn FTW. They prorate the rate some if you show up late. It goes down a ton if you show up past 5am

Try micro tell by mohegan sun about 15 minutes away, the price should be around 80 to 120, if your going to go on a regualar basic you could negotiate a cheaper rate of course you would have to grease the staff a little bit. 18603670880

I have had good luck with Red Roof Inn and Raddisson (New London) and the Econolodge (Groton). Call them directly and don't mind a bit of a drive.

Does it HAVE to be a hotel?

Once when Mohegan was booked solid we stayed at the Motel6 about where 395 peels off 95. Clean decent non-fancy room for something like $69 (or cheaper, don't really remember but 69 max).

I never made it into the pool but it looked good too.

I stayed there one night and it was pretty bad. The place (hallways, parking lot, entrance) was dirty, there were constant sounds of water pumps or some crap going all night and loud construction started very early in the morning.

There are a bunch of hotels within 20 minute drive. As well as Groton and New London. Look up hotels in Stonington, Mystic, No Stonington, Norwich and even Westerly RI. They include Best Westerns, Comfort Inn, Marriot, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Hilton Inn, Holiday Inn, Quality Inn and Super 8. You should be able to find one in your price range at any of these. Especially since the summer season is ending and kids head back to school. If you need directions pm me and i can give you quick back road directions to avoid busy highways or construction on Rt 2.

Oooh, wow, I wish I had known about this when I played a lot at FW. One of my dumb entrepreneurial ideas is hotels-by-the-hour that aren't like those more infamous hourly hotels, located near casinos. If anyone knows of anything like that in Tunica, I'd be most grateful.
