Pokerstars 5 dollar MTT/ Deepstacks, pleasent problem.

This is my friend who played this hand and we where discussing the best line vs a bad player. Basically how much should we bet on the flop? Aim to get his entire stack or to milk him?

Preflop might be debatable lol but please ignore it.

discussing best line vs a bad player...he raised with 10 3 off from EP??!! What does that make him...anyone can work on extracting when they catch lightening but even though you asked to ignore pre it's too bad not to address...

Ehh fine you tried to steal whatever. Check behind. hope he bets on the turn and has somewhat improved. Otherwise bet light on the turn to induce a raise.

I'm betting 6500-7500 here every time.

Okay. Thats what Hero did actually and got called by K8.
But we cant get it allin by the river if we dont bet pott (unless villian raises at any point, which he is unlikely to do).
`
So as a pure EV decision how would a big pott bet be?

I didnt post this to discuss preflop play. Why is it so hard to just ignore it as a bad steal, and focus on the situation postflop?!

hard to ignore something that is that laughably bad. and potting the flop is pretty results oriented without a read that he stacks off with something other than a king here.

Re: Pokerstars 5 dollar MTT/ Deepstacks, pleasent problem.

Pot-bet on the flop can only possibly be the correct play if he happens to have a K, which he did. You can't know that though. All other lines suggested in this thread will be more profitable against villain's complete range (which given your description of him, is pretty wide).

Everyone saying to check behind, realize please how often you DON'T Cbet your hands here. This is red-flag-oh-rama.

If this guy is as bad as OP describes, we probably don't have to worry too much about him reading our check as a monster hand.

Will it? I mean isnt this a situation where we might get a little value by slowplaying or playing soft, but the times he has the king he will get pretty cheaply away.
So by just betting strong we will win a huge pott occasionally.
Im leaning towards that it would be more profitable EV wise to make a pottsized bet. Assume villian never will laydown any king.

sledghammer 08-25-2007 02:34 PM

Re: Pokerstars 5 dollar MTT/ Deepstacks, pleasent problem.

It really depends on the type of 'bad' player he is. But once he calls a decent flop bet, chances are good enough he has a king to start overbetting the pot and trying to get all in.

Re: Pokerstars 5 dollar MTT/ Deepstacks, pleasent problem.

can't ignore preflop cause it goes to the villan's whole style of play/image...lucky to still be in with chips if indicative...hand is irrelevant as in the long haul villan will be one of those who gets chips early and gets nowhere IMO
