bay101 roll call

How many bay101 players here? Ive been playing about once a week, trying to get it up to 2, but it's a long drive from sf.

Re: bay101 roll call

Supposedly the 20/40 games are infested with 2p2ers but you'd never guess it from playing there. I've probably logged in over 200 hours this year in those games and I'd be surprised if I've played with more than 4 2p2ers there. At 40/80 I can honestly think of just one guy who might be one and I've played over 250 hours there too.

Re: bay101 roll call

the regs who i suspect could be here:

some guy always playing 40/80. Looks to be around 25-30. he has a pony tail, glasses, wears a bellagio baseball cap, usually dressed up in a black suit. (lol vague description right...)

Other guy often in the 20, some asian kid with a shaved head.

Finally, asian kid with a pony tail. Always dressed like a bum in a tshirt and cargo shorts.

i know exactly the two guys you are talking about and those are the ones i have in mind too.

I believe this guy is/was a prop (if its the same guy you're describing).

Re: bay101 roll call

I go thru periods of time where I play there on the weekends, but havent in a couple months. I've played with Sucker in the 40 game a couple times. My impression of the 20 would definitely not be, "infested" with 2+ers. Way too good a game.

By the way I think ,per capita, the Oaks 30 game might have more 2+2ers.

As an aside, I think I saw the Bellagio cap guy stalking our 30 game in the Oaks the other day but he never sat down. I pegged him as 2+2er, even though I've never played with him.

Re: bay101 roll call

I played there once a week in the spring(usually Thursdays or Fridays, sometimes Saturdays) and will continue doing so next year. I concur with CDC's statement about the 20 games, though I don't think they're that soft. There are a number of reasonable players who are dealers/props/non2p2. Obviously, many of them still have major leaks in their games, but they don't spew off chips like crazy.

Does anyone know if Justin, red headed guy, mid 20's, no taller than 5'8'', works in Venture Capital, plays as high as the 1/2 game, reasonably solid player is 2p2? He's the only guy I've met in my 100+ playing hours.

i know who you're talking about and he seemed pretty solid to me, although that opinion sort of changed when i saw him overlimp on the button after like 5 limpers with KK.

and never seen him play higher than 40/80 and i got the impression that when he did play it he was taking shots.

I play the 8/16 game there about once a weekish sometimes less sometimes more

Re: bay101 roll call

I play 20/40 there twice a month, mostly on weekends. I live in Livermore and have a card club down the street, which Saturdays goes to 10/20, so the drive is sometimes too much. I am not rolled for the 40/80 game, but I know many gamblers (LAGs) who play that and the 100/200 game.

Re: bay101 roll call

I think Asian guy with shaved head goes by VN. He likes to bet 8 chips with both hands like he's "rolling out carpet" palm upwards?

Only other guy I think is 2+2 is this bearded guy with a parrot on his shoulder who uses a gold doubloon as a card protector and smells like seawater.

That and some Indian guy named Jay with a moustache who wears a UC Santa Cruz sweatshirt. He's pretty good.

I came *this* close to taking a shot at the 1/2 game one time simply because Jay was there and the seat to his left was open. I would have if I hadn't been virtually certain that the regulars would be 3- or 4-betting my grossly underrolled butt every time I tried to isolate Jay - and it still may have been worth taking the shot anyway.

I am but I haven't been playing much mid-stakes lately due to bankroll problems; 6/12 and spread limit.

Re: bay101 roll call

I go there at lunch on occasion (it's been a couple of months, though) and play the 20 and 40 games. The only ones at that time of day that I'm confident are 2+2ers are Hank (I'm pretty sure it's him) and a 1/2 regular who posts only infrequently.

There is another lunchtime regular who wouldn't surprise me if he's on the site, a mid-30's Asian professional guy who plays 20/40 and seems to take the game fairly seriously.

This guy plays pretty well, but he's not on 2+2.

I played the 20-40 there *once* and got raped inside out by a combo of superior play and spectacularly cold cards.

I will probably be there more since I no longer trust GC, which I probably cant discuss here anyway.

Re: bay101 roll call

i play there sometimes. still interested in meeting geormiet, cdc, and other 2p2 regs sometime. i def haven't noticed a lot of people i would suspect are 2p2, but there are some decent self-taught types in the 1/2 and sometimes even the 40.

I just read Lee Jones' CardPlayer column about some guy named Chuck Thompson, who is apparently a Bay 101 pro/regular for many years. Anyone know if this is true, or know who he is?

Captain R 08-19-2007 11:03 AM

Re: bay101 roll call

Yeah, I play with Chuck once in a while, like maybe once a month. He's been a long time prop player/pro there. I think he does some other small jobs for Bay101, like he did some introductions and stuff for the Shooting Star WPT event.

He was in one of the 2003 or 2004 ESPN WSOP episodes.

Re: bay101 roll call

Chuck has some kind of contract/arrangemnt with Bay 101 to promote tournaments there and such. Part of the deal is that he play exclusively at Bay 101 when playing in Northern CA or (maybe just the bay area). He did make a main event FT a few years back. 4th place sounds about right but I don't know if was as far back as Ungar. Playes way better in the cash games than your typical Bay 101 prop.

OMG I hope you are being sarcastic. He definately has the agression thing down but he is the biggest fish in the place. I don't play the 1/2 much because it is often a very tough game at the time I usually play but if he is there I'll knock over old ladies to get a seat.

I don't play high enuff to make it worth driving to SJ instead of San Bruno regularly, but I play in the Sunday Limit Donkament a few times per year. Came in 2nd last time due to my lucky jacket. Any 2+2ers play in that tournament???

I go to Bay 101 once in a long while. I know Haakee and Fianchetto. Garden City is much closer so I go there more often. I'd be very interested to know why poster can't trust Garden City. BTW, GC is rumored to be starting a 60/120 soon for people who can't handle the jump between 40/80 and 100/200 =).

If it were my choice, I would be playing all my games at Artichoke Joes $15/$30. $3 + $1 jackpot rather than $5 no jackpot in San Jose. Plus I feel like I'm in Chinatown there...right at home. Alas, the drive is too far.
