Cash games at Mille Lacs?

Was just searching the forums to see if I could find any info on cash games at Grand Casino Mille Lacs and didn't have much luck.

I am going to be there all next week for the HPT tourney and was wondering what kinds of cash hold 'em games they run there?

Has anyone played there recently?

They were spreading 2/4, 3/6 kill and regular, 4/8 no kill, 2-10 & 2-20 spread (with and without a kill) last weekend.

Of the two floor people that I dealt with, Scott tries his best but the other guy was a joke. The dealers are fair to horrendous.

Lots of locals, clueless tourists with family pots and suckouts. There's some talent there too. Tall skinny guy with a mustache & goatee (blond wife plays too). A couple of fresh faced college guys on the spread limit games had their act together.

There's a local cowboy (complete with the white hat), I think I heard his name was Steve, that loves to bluff. Keep an eye on how he bets and you'll figure him out.

I give the room about a C.

I will be up there a week from Sat as well to play some satellites for the HPT qualifiers and play some cash games.

This is one of the MN Casinos with poker that I haven't played yet so I'm excited to check it out. I'm sure there will be a ton of cash games with HPT in town but most of the bigger ones will probably be spread limit such as 2/10, 4/20 and 5/30 like GC Hinckley.

To anyone who has played the HPT single table satellites;
What is the structure of these like? Do you start with decent chips and have decent time at each level or does it become a crapshoot real quick?
How many from each single table sat (1,2,3) make it into a qualifier?

Thanks and Good Luck!

The room is a rat hole. The tournament will be held in another part of the facility.

Oh, joy! But I guess it's good to hear they are having the tourney in another room.

How are MN cash games in general? Better closer to the Twin Cities?

I have not been up there for a year, but it was second rate at best when I was there. The games played more like a kitchen table game.

One session the dealer was upset with me because I was beating the table. Cards thrown around, pots flung, generally misreading hands, so on, and so forth.

Up in Cloquet, or down in Minneapolis the games are much better.

Just remember, there is no no limit. Its all spread/fixed limit.

I just saw on the web site that the limits go up to $60, so much better than $5/$5 Colorado.

Does anyone know what the $4/$8 or $5/10 games are like at Mille Lacs, or anywhere in MN?

Yup, the higest game spread in MN is 30-60 limit or 5-60 spread.

I've never seen a 5-10 game spread in MN.

As for 4-8, I've never played at Mille Lacs, but I have played it extensivly at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. 4-8 there is usually very loose and profitable, if you know good limit strategy/have read SSHE you should be able to crush the games.

I'm guessing that the limit games at Mille Lacs will be very profitable, as the HPT will bring up lots of NL players without a very good limit game.

GL at the HPT.

P.S. your gonna have to get by me.

porkchop, regarding HPT $45+10 one pay/$90+10 two pay SNG's, are crap shoots with 10 minute rounds and 30BBs to start...better deal are the $400+50 150bb/30 minute round qualifiers advancing 20% to a transferable/sellable $2000+200 ME seat, imo

Thanks for the single table sat info I may just try one, see how it goes and re-evaluate after that.
If I don't make it into the HPT main event I will just do cash games.

And to the levels of cash games I believe they are like GC Hinckey in that only the lowest levels are traditional fixed limit games 2/4, 3/6 and all of the bigger games will be spread limit 2/10, 4/20 ,5/30.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I didn't see any regular (non-HPT) tourney's on Grand Casino's web site. Does any one know if they do (or they will) be running any tourneys during the week of the HPT?

Any updates on what it's been like so far up at Mille Lacs this week?
Is it getting busy?
Do they expect a big crowd this weekend?
How are the cash games?
Thanks everyone

As someone else pointed out, the SNG's are crapshoots. However, I always play them at HPT tournies because I do well and qualify in them. They are also a great way to make extra cash because you can sell the qualifying tickets (for a discount) to others.

Nobody is playing the one-player-advance sng's, just the two player.

I haven't played cash games at GC ML (rather play the sng's), but from what I've heard they are donkarific if you like small stakes cash games.

The preliminary tournies of the Grand Series have attracted 220, 178 and 162 (Mon, Tue, Wed). Not real big days anyway. But I expect the traffic will pickup today as more players come in for the sng's and the bounty tourny tonight.

I'll be in the Friday 10Am $450 qualifying round. See ya there.
