I think you played it fine. I dont mind the check behind on the turn, nor the check on the river - since you'd probably only get called by hands that beat yours (2 pair, weak flush, broadway straight). Not to mention, by checking, you get to see what he check/called you down with.

Are you shortstacking on purpose?

Re: Comments on this hand

a very good LAG may raise this hand on the button, but someone playing shortstacked, or even a solid TAG shouldnt be playing this hand from any position, ever imo. so fold preflop.

as played though it looks good.

Huh?

I raise this hand pretty much 100 % of the time here.

maybe im just a nit but A5 is just a bit to weak for me.

Re: Comments on this hand

I only raise it on the button.

I think you might not steal enough if you fold it.

Re: Comments on this hand

DontTiltMe looking at my PT stats you are probably right, i do not steal enough.

The thing is, if you play A5 on the button, youre only going to lose money to bigger aces, and you wont get anything if opponent doesnt have an ace (assuming that an ace hits the flop).

Play NL20. This isn't how you shortstack effectively. To play shortstacked properly it takes a lot more than sitting with 20$.

Re: Comments on this hand

you play it:

1.to steal the blinds. frankly this isn't even stealing. You have way the best hand.

2. to take the pot on the flop with a cbet.

Those two things alone=profit

3. Hitting 2 pair or trip 5s

4. outplaying your opponent with position.

Those two things == more profit

5. So you have credibility when you bet Ace high flops when you are stealing but don't have an ace.

6. So your opponents will play back at you with AT when you have AJ+

Those are more metagame/range balancing concerns, and they = still yet more profit.
