Pros only play omaha cash, why?

If you check out any professionals using a buddy system like word deleted - Buzz, you will find that the professionals are playing PL Omaha cash games only. Why is this so?

I've been playing NL holdem for a few years now and i might need to switch my game up because for some reason the professionals arent playing it. Can somebody help me discover why?

What do they know here that I dont?

Thanks.

omaha is gamble gamble fun. holdem is boring with a game full of expert players so that extra variance is up their alley.

Why are you posting this in the O/8 forum? Also, what do you care what the "pros" do? I guarantee more people are making a living playing NLHE than PLO, but I think by "pros" you meant TV players.

Agreed, simply because more people play NLHE. Not many average professionals reside in the 200/400 NLHE. They are at much lower stakes.

Ya rly. I'd cream my pants and have a heart attack if Omaha or O8 had anywhere near the player pool that NLHE does. Look at anything below ultra nosebleed stakes and there is a huge discrepancy.

Higher limit players also love badugi and 2-7TD. I suggest you switch to those.

at first I thought this thread was going to be about why higher stakes PLO games were much more common than PLO8. I think thats a much more interesting(and pertinent for this forum) topic, so lets just discuss that. And I'm talking about online only, as I already understand why it'd be more popular in person due to the annoyance of splitting pots manually.

This is what happens when people start boycotting their favorite forums. They gotta make trouble at the forum next door to break the tedium.

Im not even a PLO guy. I play mainly LHE/LO8. PLO8 seems flawed in that there's less possibility for intricate play between very good opponents. Also, what dave said.. easier transition/more fun for holdem donks. More scooping = more gamboool.

I'll admit that my first reaction was total disagreement to this, but I'd like to hear your reasoning and others' viewpoints first.

i have noticed that the players on full tilt sign up for 08 sngs a lot faster than stars in the 10-30 non turbo sngs.I came to the conclusion that it is bc the pros seem to play omaha a lot.Omaha is just a better game,hi and hi lo,seems to me there is much more skill involved. When you play nl holdem, you hardly ever have someone drawing dead, but in omaha ,you flop set over set or higher flush and they are drawing to one out or dead.omaha will eventually take over the poker world....

So how often you have someone drawing dead determines skill? What?

I believe that it is a more skillfull game bc of that.I also know that you can flop the nuts and be behind and that happens frequently but the times you have your opponent drawing to one out and drawing dead makes up for that.

Re: Pros only play omaha cash, why?

I just think pot limit is a bad format for split games because it gives the lows too much power and makes hand-reading too murky of an affair.
