Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

Here's the deal. I'm a 32 year old, former athlete, former fitness enthusiast, former runner and gym-rat, who has absolutely let myself go to pot. I glanced in the mirror this morning after stepping out of the shower and something just snapped, I will not take one more day of looking, feeling and living like a fat slob. I am appalled by my appearance and some immediate and permanent changes are going to take place. I don't even know what I weigh right now, but I would guess around 250 lbs or so. I'm 6'1" with a decent amount of residual muscle under this mountain of flab. Anyways, is there anyone else on this forum who is also fed up with the way they are living and who wants to join/challenge me to a fat-killing duel? The stakes are unimportant, anything reasonable is fine. Let me know if you are interested and we'll set something up. Pictures, numbers, graphs, pie-charts, whatever, I don't give a flip. Let's do it.

I would join in. But I've just done this (obv brag). I went from 255 to 200 so far this year. I posted about it (w/ pics) in the H&F forum: H&F thread. I also made a thread awhile ago in OOT when I was at 225, but the picture links from it are now broken: OOT thread.

I had a similar moment around Christmas of 2006. I was just tired of it. And I finally just turned things around and became more health conscious. I'm going to lose around 20 more, but things are a little slower going for me these days. While I dropped 25 lbs in the first 35 days, I expect the next 20 to take, probably, 4 more months. That's okay though, no rush.

Good luck to all of you, I hope this goes down. It's WELLLLL worth it when you drop a significant amount of weight. I feel 1000000x better than I used to.

Whatever people are comfortable with. New Years, Kwaanza, Halloween, Thanksgiving, whatever. I think it should be a minimum of two months, so that we can realize some significant results. My pick would be Thanksgiving or New Years, but again, I'm flexible. What do others think? And, seriously, let's get this mofo going STAT.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

Yeah, I could be up for something like this, because I was going to do it anyway. I've put on like 40 useless pounds in the last year or so, just from living to excess and being lazy as [censored]. I've been fat before and I don't like it and finally am sick enough of it to do something. I'm moving to Austin at the end of the month (wow, a city that actually promotes a healthy lifestyle!) so things should really kick up in earnest then. I'm currently about 6'1, 250 and should be between 200-220 depending on how much muscle I'm carrying. (200 = not much; 220 = too much)

Damn and i just spent a couple grand on 2XLT clothing lol
I'm 6'2" and weigh about 295lbs. 70lbs of which is pure fat.

At one point when I was younger I was 225lbs, cut and built. For years after that I maintained a weight somewhere around 220lbs even though the muscle wained. Getting itno a serious relationship and then marriage has contributed to my rapid decent into obesity.

Can we start off a challenge where you spot me the 2K to cover the clothing loss? lol

I think rapid wt. loss is kinda bad for you dude, and it's much harder to maintain long term when it comes off fast. Just an FYI, if you start freakin at the gym 4 days/wk and don't stop you will be fine but in most cases when the wt comes off fast it comes back.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

37 years old, 6' tall. I weighed 255 like a year ago, got down to 215 and have been kind of hanging there since. I was down as low as 205 but my willpower has wavered and I'm totally stuck in the 215 realm now. Which beats the hell out of 255 but I'm still quite fat and want to get down to 185. So I'm in for 30 pounds.

Ok I would like to join too, I would like to lose somewhere between 7 and 9 pounds, depending on how much I weigh today. I, personally, vote for the Thanskgiving time frame since I am going to nlsoldier's for T-day, but I understand how that would be illogical for people with more weight to lose. Could we do like check-ins and timelines and then I can just see if I'm maintaining it by New Year's or what have you?

Also for reasons that are obvious, I'm not posting my weight, but I'm 5'7 FWIW. I'll do before/after pictures if I am so inclined, I just think it'll be good initiative to have people to check in with that aren't psychotic girls on dieting message boards (www.thedailyplate.com) .

Between March 2006 and March 2007, I went from 350 down to 303, and back up to about 390. I have started to loose it again, and I am now back down to 345. I am hoping to get down to 209 by Juanury 1, 2009. I am not in for a fast weight loss challange, but good luck to all of you. And focus most of all on maintaining your weight loss after you are done loosing.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

I'm glad fluffpop chimed in with 7-9#, as I am sort of in the same category. Throughout my childhood I was always underweight and skinny as a rail. In high school I was drinking 3 egg chocolate milk shakes every other day in vain attempts to gain weight. At 22 I reached peak physical fitness at 6'3" 155. It sounds really light, but I had a nice, toned body with about 6% body fat (as measured in my college phys fitness class). I'm currently 186 and weaker than I was 5 years ago at 22. I'd like to drop 20# while getting stronger as well.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

I'd be up for this sort of thing. I'm 6'4" and about 280lbs. Don't know how much I'd like to lose, but getting rid of the fat to expose the beautiful muscle that lies beneath would be a start.

So, yeah, let's get this going. I need encouragement!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

I've been doing this since last September (almost a year, woohoo!). Good luck to all those out there, remember to keep the dieting sane. Eat well, don't starve yourself. I went from ~210 lbs (5'11") to around my current 160, which is basically my goal.
At first I only worked out and then I started changing my diet, once I limited myself to 1800-2000 cals a day, I started losing weight quickly. Still eating 1800 cals a day and maintaining well and not hungry. Feels very good -- I can finally do pull up and push ups and all that crap. DO IT, good luck!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge. I want YOU! (fat ass)

42 6'2"...guessing about 270 lb.

About this time last year I bought a gym membership, starting shopping at health stores, eating right and exercising daily. Big improvement.

Then came Christmas, starting visiting friends and hosting relatives, all of whom smoke. So I decided to do the smart thing and start smoking again.

Bye gym. Bye Trader Joe's. Hello lost pounds; where have you been these 6 months?

Have been looking for an opportune moment to get back on the horse.

Should be a sweetener for anyone having to quit smoking at the same time. (No way I can work out while smoking, though I know some do).

I was kind of a unique situation that made it a little easier on me to shed it. I had a serious illness that left me bedridden 90% of 4 years. Previous to that I had always been an athlete and never above 215. Once I got better the first 50 came off from just becoming active again. The rest has been a struggle, but I was also still off work on a medical leave for a long time so I could totally spend myself working out without having to conserve energy for normal life things like work.
You look good dids and congrats. You kind of have a fuller face like me which means that people dont notice how much you have lost until its substansial. I had alrady lost like 70 lbs without hardly a comment until I hit a certain point where it seemed like everyone made a comment about it. It was the first time in a long time that I didnt completely dread going shopping. When I get the last 7-10 off I will try to find a before picture and post both. At my heaviest I was avoiding the camera hard but I am sure someone has a Christmas photo or something.

...Goals are staged...

340 by 9/5 ...my next Vegas trip...

320 by 10/13 in a wedding wearing an ivory tux (WTF)

305 by 11/15 end of 12 week scheduled program I am on that a bodybuilder buddy set me up on...taking 15 day break for Vegas and another wedding I have to go to...

...adding cardio and weights on monday to step this up and keep broad upper body, and arms....

...nothing worse than losing tons of weight and being weird shaped...

295 by mid december...marks 1 year and would be 133 lbs in that time...

...originally when I started I wanted to be 270 but living healthy with working out etc...but the more involved I get the more I am thinkin 230-250....

...figure as hudge as I was Ill probably need [censored] surgery for the skin thats gonna hang off me like a baggy sweater...and targeting beginning of spring for that...when I am 260-270ish...
