Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
I am heading out to Vegas and want to stay at an upper tier Hotel. It's part Poker trip part Vacation. I would like a very nice room, great service, good room service, etc. I also would like to mainly play were I stay. I expect to pay a good amount for the room, but why not plan on a casino rate.
Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn???.... other? Best combo, or Hotel Accomidations and Poker? I will mainly play 2-5NL with some 5-10NL on the weekends. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
I think Wynn is going to.. uh... Wynn.
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
The poker rate at the Wynn is a little cheaper than Bellagio or Venetian ($129 weekdays, $199 weekends vs. $149/$219 for Bellagio and $169/$259 for Venetian). I believe you need 6 hrs. play/day for poker rate at Wynn and Bellagio and 8hrs/day at the Venetian. The Venetians rooms are all "suites", and a little larger than the Wynn and Bellagio. I have stayed at Wynn and Bellagio, and preferred the standard rooms at the Wynn. Bellagio is the most centrally located of the 3.
The NL at the Wynn is 1/3 2/5 and 5/10 uncapped buyin. Venetian has 1/2 300 cap, 2/5 1000 cap, and 5/10 uncapped. Bellagio has 2/5 500 cap, 5/10 1000 cap, as well as larger uncapped games. If you want to play higer stakes the Bellagio is the best choice. Check out All Vegas Poker for a complete list of games they regularly spread. Good luck. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
I vote Wynn. Their poker room rate is better, and their room is the most luxurious of the three.
Standard rooms at the Wynn are nicest, too. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Venetian is in the process of redoing all their standard rooms so they are at Wynn's standards or better but that won't be done until October. The 5-10 game at Wynn can get crazy as the game is uncapped. Very crazy if 5-10 is the largest game being spread, which was the case last week since its the quiet time for poker there.
I'd go with Wynn though with Venetian a close 2nd. I'm 90% certain Venetians poker rate is just 6 hours though. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
i cant speak on the venetian, but i thought the service, room, and food at the bellagio completely blew away what i got at the wynn.
i also thought the games were better at the bellagio but i was playing 15-30 lhe. the one thing i really dug about the wynn tho was being able to monitor the wait list for games from my room. that was a nice touch. all said and done tho i believe ill be staying at the bellagio from now on. oh yeah, the orange julius' at the wynn dominated the ones at the bellagio. i cant front. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
I can't imagine subjecting myself to the toruture of 6 hours in the Bellagio poker room for one day, much less two or three.

[/ QUOTE ] Word on the street is they recently removed this feature. [/ QUOTE ] Can't confirm a thing but a month ago today this feature was alive and well. I'd definitely recommend the Wynn, try to get a room on the tower suites side if you can, its a small price for much better access. They are often very full, so tipping/bribing the check in host may not work but if you go that route do a $50 or $100 instead of the standard $20 or they might lol. Poker rate is obviously the way to go, but it may make getting a complimentary upgrade more difficult. And make sure you have a miami vice or 7 at the pool. Wynn's poker room is nice and fairly well run but probably isn't quite as pleasing as the V's room. In my experience the games were good at the Wynn, since $300 or $500 is pocket change to most of their guests. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
If you play mid-high stakes, Bellagio is the place to be. If you want a better vacation, nothing beats the Wynn.
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Looks like the Wynn it is.
I believe the Wynn only has single bed rooms, correct? |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Don't know why because I've never been to Vegas, let alone asked to have my name placed on one of their mailing lists, but yesterday I received in the mail a comp for three nights at the Wynn Las Vegas including a slot voucher for $100. This is probably standard marketing stuff, but I was already considering a trip to Vegas for the fall about 50-50, but now it looks more likely than not. (obviously, the nights are less than prime, but I'm not complaining. )

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
aren't all the Venetian rooms suites? Everyone I stayed at had a walk down area to the "living room." Is the Wynn really better than that? It's hard to believe. Wynn is-literally-the only place I haven't stayed other than the Ho on the strip.
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
I haven't stayed at the Wynn. The Venetian is really, really nice, however Wynn is a hell of a place and every restaurant is amazing. The only problem is that there may not be as much action at Wynn, depending on what games you play. I also really enjoy the Bellagio especially if you can get a view of the fountains from your room. The games there are probably better than the Wynn. Hmm....now I change my mind and would say that for an overall experience I'd stay at Bellagio over Venetian

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
well i have heard bell is the best place for that limit.. any other feedback though? wynn sounds like a nice place.. how are the games there and the Venetian
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Stayed at the Venitian last week. 2-5 game was awesome on Friday night and all weekend long. Also, the hotel room was huge and def top notch. I plan to go back.
Never stayed at the Wynn and hate playing at the Bellagio. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
raro - how was the play? and 2/5NL or L
thanks |

Just sit down and play and find out. The players there today won't be the players there when you get there, so that question is really meaningless. I could say I saw 10 pros at the table last night and it means absolutely nothing. Don't worry about it, just sit and play where you are comfortable with, and that's your best game, seriously. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Does Ceasars fall into the same class as these hotels? I am headed out there with the wife and found good rates at Bellagio and Ceasars. From what I have read I would rather play at Ceasars but I'm thinking the B is going to nicer for for the other half. Thoughts?
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Caesars, and all other Harrahs hotels, has a bigger rake. Many of them also have a jackpot drop, although I don't know for certain about Caesars. All else being equal, I'd rather save a couple bucks per pot and play at the Wynn or maybe the Mirage if it's running. 4/8 doesn't run consistently at Venetian any more. Weekend evenings, you can probably count on it, but otherwise it's hit or miss.
|
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
If there's a wife/girlfriend involved, I wholeheartedly endorse the Wynn. Was there last July and except for an overpriced meal at Bartolotta ($125 for fish flown in from the Mediterranean etc.), all was superb.

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
For everything under 10/20nl:
1)Wynn 2)Venetian 3)Bellagio |

The rooms in the Roman Tower are very bland and low-profile. The Augustus tower, instead, is very, very nice. I'd guess the other towers are somewhere in between. The rest of the hotel is much more elegant than the other Harrah's joints but still not as beautiful as the B. I suggest you enquire further into what room exactly you're being offered. |

raro - how was the play? and 2/5NL or L thanks [/ QUOTE ] 2-5 NL I thought the action was very good. Several crazy loose weak partiers fresh out of TAO nightclub, mixed in with standard mechanical players that would occasionally bluff at flops then shut it down if called. There were less local rocks than I expected and have seen elsewhere. |

the Wynn .

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Sounds like the Wynn but how is it getting around from the Wynn? I've only been to Vegas once and didn't make it over there. It seemed like it was at the very end of the strip. I would like to be able to get around without getting a cab everytime I leave the hotel. How far is it to the B and V from the Wynn?

[/ QUOTE ] Venetian is not far from Wynn. 15 minute walk and only because you have to cross over to the terminally dumb pirate show in front of TI and then cross back. If they ever finish construction at Venetian, it will be a five minute walk from Wynn to Venetian. Bellagio is a hike and probably about a mile. I'd guess 25 minutes from Wynn to Bellagio, but I'm not positive because I always get side tracked by BJ switch and $3 craps at Casino Royale. Anyway, I've stayed at TI a few times before, and I had no issue walking from there to Bellagio multiple times. And its not like I'm a fitness poster child either. |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Wynn to Bellagio is walkable in 30 minutes, but I spend the 7 or 8 bucks on a taxi rather than waste the time.

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
what do you tip the taxi drivers when you use then?

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Played at Venetian & Wynn 2 wks ago. Only got to V at 10PM on a Sun night, but options were pathetic for mid-stakes limit. Two 4/8 tables, neither were full. Combined within 30 mins, and then the only open one broke after another hr. No 8/16 to be seen and floor told me it hardly ever ran anymore. Totally contradictory to what I had read on allvegaspoker.com the wk before I left.
Was obv not satisfied so took the hike to Wynn. No crossing over to TI and back necessary. You can walk in front of the construction site now...still took around 15 mins tho. Only one 15/30 game going at W, full table, 2nd on the WL. Got in after 10 mins...originally, a decent game. Many ANNOYING regulars, though, especially one loud-mouthed &*!@#$ who wouldn't shut-up. Both were threatened by the PB to shut-up or leave after we went at it when I had had enough, but that finally got him to calm down as a result. Anyway, down to 6 handed at around 2AM, I'm the only non-regular there. I play til 9AM. The same 6 for virtually the entire 6-handed session, with the exception of one donktastic spewtard, a supposed NL regular, who decided it would be fun to blind-raise or straddle PF EVERY SINGLE HAND, regardless of position, for around 4 orbits (not an exaggeration). A limp re-raise was done on him too many times to remember. He dropped 2K in < 90 mins. Anyway, grinded away a 14BB win and finally decided to leave realizing I had a 5 hr drive ahead of me and had yet to sleep/checkout. Last hand...put a river beat on the loudmouth and headed out after taking a leak. Figured it would be aard to beeat that feeling. Cliff Notes: V sucked for me, W was OK but full of locals, and I had the most fun donking around at 4/8 at Caesar's and (gasp) Rio (where I stayed). I cannot stand Bellagio. Mirage has always been OK, and is where I'll probably target next (along w/ the regulars at W, if I'm so lucky). |
Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
im sure if you were at the wynn on a friday night it would have been different

Re: Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn
Stayed at the Wynn Sept. 6-10th. Rooms are awesome, bed is the most comfortable thing I have ever laid on. Poker room lists were still displayed on in room TV (channel 29 IIRC).
Poker room was nice. I have played in all three, and I definitely prefer Wynn, Venetian, and Bellagio in that order, with Wynn/Venetian close- Venetian is definitely more slanted to NL (Wynn had a bunch of 4/8 games, an 8/16, and at least 1 other limit game). The massage chicks at Wynn were smokin'. Transportation from the Wynn- you can cab it, hike to Venetian, or take the free shuttle that runs 8-8 from the Wynn to the Convention Center that drops you off at the foot of the Monorail. Get 10 rides for $40 (shareable), and you can make your way up and down the strip pretty cheaply. If you need to catch it after the shuttle quits running, you can jump on/off at the IP/Harrah's stop. The coffee shop/pastry shop/drugstore food at Wynn is decent, but grossly overpriced. Heard good things about Crackers. Red 8 was ok, but a little expensive for the quality of food. The buffet was a disappointment compared to my last visit (good thing it was comped). Keep an eye out for the [censored] who found/stole my cellphone and punch him in the [censored] for me kthx. |
