Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
I just got wiped out at a $5/$10 PLO table. The player who took most of my money would win a huge pot, get up to a couple of thousand, then immediately leave and sit back down again with just $200. Unlike on Party, this is NOT allowed on iPoker. In fact when you try to do it, it's not possible - you have to sit with the same you left with. It was infuriating to see him take money off the table like that. I talked with CDPoker online support who told me he had found a software bug which he was exploiting, and they would suspend his account (and, possibly, give me my money back since he was in breach of the site's terms and conditions). They then discovered he was playing through the Titan skin and told me to report him to them. So I have just had the same conversation with Titan. She said "Our Poker Team is checking on it. We're forwarding this matter. I am talking to our Poker Team as well." Who knows what will happen.
So 1) Should he have his account suspended? 2) Should all the money he won be returned to other players? I hope so... |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
Had you won and not lost, would you have reported him?
If yes then the answer is no. If no then the answer is yes. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
If I'd won from him, the situation couldn't have occurred.
If I'd not been involved with him, but seen it going on, I doubt I could have cared less. That's self interest, not hypocrisy. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
Fair enough.
But I don't think you will see any money coming back. It is a fault of the site not the player. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
It is clearly the fault of the player. He is knowingly giving himself an unfair advantage.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
LOL @ Luckyjimm. Dude what the hell are you doing playing PLO1000? Lemme guess, you've done gone busto and are looking for anyone to blame but yourself?
|
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
I don't see anything in Titan's T&C's about taking chips off the table, so unless I missed it, I don't see how Titan could suspend the guy.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
luckyjimm can do whatever he wants with his money.
His question here is wether we think he is a scumbug or not for reporting this guy. |

Dude are you serious? Let it go.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
You can rathole at iPoker - there is no need to exploit a software flaw - I have been conducting a short stack experiment the last week or so and leave when I double up - I then get a new table via the waiting list - sometimes it will put me back on a table that I've recently already doubled up on and left.
Er so what exactly? If a player isn't comfortable playign with 400BB he will either rathole and come back with a full stack or just leave - at least if he comes back you have a shot at getting your stack back.. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
Well, it wouldn't let me rejoin a table with less money. You mean he did it by selecting the general "join any table of this limit" function?

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
You should definetly NOT get any money back in this situation. If you do you are stealing. What should happen is the site should fix the software bug and thank you, maybe give you a small bonus or something and thats it. If you take money from this ratholer you are straight up stealing it. As much as I hate ratholer scumbags, stealing from scumbags doesnt make it much better.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
You knew exactly what was happening and you chose to continue playing against the small stack. Why does anyone owe you anything?
I'm not really sure what is meant by "software bug" in this case? If all he did was ask the software for first available table then IMO he is completely innocent of wrongdoing. It's not his fault it sent him back to the same table and failed to enforce the buy-in policy. If he found some clever trick to bypass such as rebooting his client everytime he changes tables (exploits hypothetical defective implementation) then he deserves a warning to stop doing that. If he did something really nefarious like hacking the poker client with a software debugger then he deserves to be booted but I wouldn't take his money. But that's extremely unlikely and in all probability his only real offense is violating some people's belief that ratholing is wrong. Does anyone else think it's weird that iPoker cheating investigations are supposedly left to the individual skins? Why should it matter that this guy is Titan and not CDPoker? This is a network problem. |

[/ QUOTE ] QFT At the time he "cheated" (left table and returned with a smaller stack), you were aware of what happened. You made the decision to keep playing and you accepted the "cheating" and any further losses. If you watch someone stack the deck and then you decide to play the deck, you have no right to complain. If you become aware of some sort of cheating after you lose, then you have a right to complain. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
i don't see what difference it makes, whether you double up, leave the table, then go shortstack a different table, or do it at the same table.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
So 1) Should he have his account suspended?
2) Should all the money he won be returned to other players? 3) Should OP learn not to be a poor loser? |

What difference does it make whether the money is on the table or off, if the owner of the stack gets to choose his bets? |

If Jim had won and still reported it, the guy should not have his account suspended, and no funds should be returned. If Jim had won and not reported it, the guy should have his account suspended, and all funds should be returned. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... |

This is a network problem. [/ QUOTE ] It is a network problem. My understanding was the guy had accounts at both sites and then hopped out with the big stack and back on with the short stack from the other site to clean out the guy he was running good against with little risk. If you are allowed to have accounts at multiple iPoker skins this seems to be the loophole he is exploiting. |

Regardless of whether you think I'm a good player or not, if I've firmly decided that I'm never ever putting more than $200 of my ginormous stack at risk, why does that entitle the rest of the table to get my stack returned to them? |

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
It would not be possible for someone sitting with $2000 to play PLO properly while never risking more than $200 in a hand. It just wouldn't work! Their opponent raises them, they have to fold. So that comparison is not sensible.
It was 7.30am when we were playing. There were no other $5/$10 games running, and this table was just three-handed. It was the only game in town. When the player first pulled this trick, the third player said "Are you [censored] kidding me?" and left in disgust. I should have done the same. But a replacement third player joined us, and I kept on playing. He was taking money off the table and that is clearly against the rules. It makes all the difference if there is no other game running. His username fwiw is xxxCMFxxx and he's from Bergheim I doubt very much I'll hear back from Titan, but I do think they should suspend his account if not give me my money back. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
What you are asking for luckyjimm is a freeroll.
You play the guy regardless of how you feel about his actions with the full intent that if you lose you will demand your money back from the site. Stop asking for your money back(that you lost fair and square)and get on to the site in question to fix this problem they have with players returning into a game shortstacked. |

I'm sure I won't get it back, but it was worth a try. And I do think he should have his account suspended. |
Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
He should have his account suspended because you lost your money, yes of course you are right.
Lets not care about the problem, lets gamble it up, if we win great,if we lose, demand our money back. Your making alot of sense. |

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
Because we were playing three-handed and it was the only game running, what he did is pretty much the same as taking money out of a heads-up match.

Re: Am I an angle-shooting douchebag?
So you should have stopped playing right there and reported the incident. Afterwards it is too late to claim monies. The guy is playing his strategy and if the site allows it, then he is not cheating.
