Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

Who is going to EPT Barcelona, and then going to London straight afterwards, and is interested in getting a place in London?

Here are important dates:

EPT Barcelona: August 28 -Sept 1
Euro WSOP (London): September 6-16, 2007
EPT London: September 25-29
Aruba Poker Classic: September 29- October 6 (day 1a Oct 2)

WCOOP: September 14-30

On the down days between WSOP Europe and EPT London, there is the WCOOP, so it doesn't make much sense to play the Euro WSOP and then fly back home to play online poker.

I know many people have talked about getting a house in London right after the EPT Barcelona tournament. So far Shaundeeb, skier, superfluousman, Vivek R, gobboboy have expressed interest, as well as others I am probably forgetting.

No one seems to ever be online and its tough to plan anything, so I'm starting this thread to try to gather everyone together and make this happen.

Everything is coming up pretty quickly so it would be good to figure things out asap (instead of while everyone is at Turning Stone or something).

So, post, email me, or let someone responsible know asap if you are playing the tournaments and want in, and we can go from there.

-Jeff

dunno if im playing the donkaments. but i want in, 100%.

for london we should just do a chat or something and discuss everything sometime this week. Maybe find someone familiar with london to help us out even if they wont be staying there?

Yo, I'll definitely be playing barcelona, and I'm unsure about playing the WSOP Europe (though I will be in London at the time, in all likelihood).

Also, it's a tossup between EPT London and Aruba, but since my hero EC10 is going to Aruba I'm leaning towards that.

Not playing Barcelona, but I wouldn't mind a house from like the 9th to the 27th or so(possibly later if I do well in EPT London)

WSOPE location:

they're pretty far apart. at the very least an underground ride + a walk. Dunno anything about housing near each, but anything near an underground could work - some rides longer than others obv.

It's not too hard to have a half hour underground ride tho.

the website still says you can buy seat only, but maybe its wrong
also they're being slow in telling me how much the package costs. I'm guessing its 12250 W$ (13250 for the package but I think it includes 1k spending money)

Hello Leo,

PlatinumStar players and above can buy an EPT Barcelona package directly
through us using their W$. This includes the €8,000 buyin and accomodation
at the five star Hotel AB Skipper. At today's exchange rate, the package
comes to a total of W$12,475.

I see that whilst you are not PlatinumStar at the moment, you were
SuperNova in the recent past, so we can waive the VPP requirement in your
case.

I should note that any player who takes advantage of this service is
obliged to wear PokerStars branded clothing during the tournament. The
exact W$ amount may also change day to day, so please let us know when you
wish to buyin and we can tell you the total at the time.

I hope this helps, but if you have further queries, please do not hesitate
to let us know.

Best regards,

Andrew

Sorry for the late response, those mails go through me, and I work 9-6 (GMT). The price is €9100 at today's exchange rate, which is W$12,555 at the moment. You can't buy a seat only through us, but you can do so via the EPT.

There no more than 20 minutes walk away from each other. I have no idea how much you guys would be willing to spend, but London propery is very, very expensive these days and that includes short lets. Central London is particularly bad. I suggest areas on the fringe of the centre like Earls Court.

yah doing this going to buy my Barc seat through stars.

I made WCP so that may conflict with WSOPE. I actually need to talk to stars see if the accomidations I get with WCP I can get extended a few days earlier instead of buying 2 diff pakages and hotel rooms which will prob overlap.

stars responded, apparently they charge current exchange rate value, which they said is $W12555 for 9100 euros right now. google says it's 12482, but whatever.

I go by what XE says at the time of the mail. It's saying W$12523 right now - I just let people take whatever I originally quoted, or the current rate if it's a better deal for them.

Sciolist what can stars do for me since I am going to be doing both EPT Barcelona and WCP at the same time and both packages will be through them is there a way to simplify it or just treat the 2 as completely separate.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I'm not involved in the WCP really, so you'd be best off mailing them. I don't think there's any overlap in the accommodation. Are you in the Hotel AB Skipper? The chances are that when you turn up for Barcelona, you'll be able to get them to merge the two bookings so that you don't have to change room half way through.

hey guys: if ya'll haven't thought about it yet, I'm guessing it might be a good idea to take some nice clothes/ shoes to these events, just in case. Especially shoes, right Ray?

Re: Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

blah I was hoping they'd allow tennis shoes cause the ept website doesn't say anything about it, but I looked at the casino website and they have:

* Ropa y calzado para hacer deporte

which according to freetranslation means clothes and footwear to do sports, so probably tennis shoes. I'm packing super light cause I'm doing some hiking in greece beforehand, so I might have to buy some there

gobbomom 08-07-2007 06:54 PM

Re: Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

I wasn't quite sure what you were saying Funkii, so I looked it up, too.

<u>Barcelona</u>
Casino dress code: smart casual (no shorts, sandals, sportswear or beach clothes, ripped jeans).

<u>London</u>
Dress code: Smart casual - no trainers, no ripped jeans, no sports wear, no T-shirts (collared shirts only)

NHFunkii 08-07-2007 06:58 PM

Re: Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

I saw that, I meant they didn't say anything specific about tennis shoes, but the spanish I think is more specific (I wouldn't have assumed sportswear includes tennis shoes)

skier_5 08-07-2007 07:01 PM

Re: Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

to state the obvious - pretty sure sportswear means no tennis shoes. Also trainers = tennis shoes and smart casual usually means no tennis shoes.

this month's Bluff has a little bit of info. on London hotels if that's the last resort. I'll post it if needed.

Re: Barcelona/London plans (for those travelling the EPT this fall)

the casino in barcelona isn't too picky about the dress code just don't look like a total slob. what they are picky about is identification to get into the casino, if you aren't from spain they will not accept anything other than a passport.

gl to all u guys in these events!! school will not permit me to have any fun.

Hello Jeff,

I'm afraid that we cannot split the packages. It's possible that we'll be
able to closer to the start of the tournament, but it depends on how our
allocation is looking at the time.

You can buy in directly with the EPT themselves though, without the need
for buying the package through us. You can find details on their site:

http://www.europeanpokertour.com/EPT...tml#howtoenter

I hope this helps, but if you have further queries, please do not hesitate
to let us know.

Let's get the ball rolling on this.

Let's get a list of who is in for sure and areas that we would like a place in and start looking. It might be best not to post potential candidates in this thread, but rather pm them to someone for security reasons. I guess you can send em to me for now.
