Biggest Poker Drug-Heads: Then and Now...
To carry on with OliverT's excellent post on doping in poker , who do you think are the biggest poker Drug-Heads of the past and even more interesting CURRENTLY.
From the past of course I would have to say Stu Ungar and his vitamin C. I imagine there were many, many others though. Currently--a load of them. Layne, Dutch, neverwin, and a ton of other twenty-somethings. Watching Newhouse on tv at the USPC he looked all glazed over and high all the time. List your choices. |

Well, back in the old days drugs were pretty common for guys like Chip Reese, Bobby Baldwin, Stu Ungar, Sailor Roberts, Jim Doman, Bones Berland.

first off kid, weed is not a drug....
and mike sexton was very close to stu and his cocaine habbit. mike said it got to extreme for him to keep up. |

Don;t know him, but, read his blog at www.shaniaconline.blogspot.com and from what I gather his only drug of choice is cannabis. However, there's an online article somewhere concerning his battles with hallucogenics in Amsterdam somewhere. So I dont think he really belongs here or would appreciate in his inclusion to this thread! |

I went up in my attic and broke out the gambling books (about 40 of them). "Aces and Kings" by Michael Kaplan and Brad Reagen. p71 "In the 1970s and early 80's, cocaine was as prominent in the poker rooms as bottled water is today...Even Reese got sucked in--though not to the extent of some of his pals. I guess I'm a huge drug user...bad me.
Painkillers for my amputated leg, xanax for insecurities/anxiety from leg, and ambien for insomnia. Occasional adderall. I'll hit the volcano once in awhile too. |
