some ray zee ramblings
well i am so happy. verizon just increased speed in my area of montana for their wireless card to near dsl speed. i have suffered with dial up and speeds of under 21kbs for years. a new horizon from verizon is in my future.
it has been extremely warm in montana. we have had almost all 90 plus days for a consecutive month. the trees are dying and forest fires are blazing and the real fire season doesnt start until late august. but i have been swimming my deep hole in the river every day. the coyotes ate my chickens but i got three new ones and they are a kill. watching them chase grasshoppers around and catching few. the baby great horned owls that nested below the house have grown up and are WHO knows where. fishing is good on the flathead river with lots of cutthroat trout attacking dry flies. dave and i are getting close with the new book on limit holdem with final things happening. some of my montana friends have done well playing in vegas and that means the games are awful easy down there. i will get to san francisco again so el d can buy me food. he likes that. |

Hello Ray Zee,
I'm DannyOcean How are you? |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
RAY ZEE FOR PRESIDENT

Re: some ray zee ramblings
Ray,
Which 2+2er is going to paint your barn? I've been to Vegas a couple of times recently and played a little bit of poker. The games were incredibly good. Must be looking forward bigtime to finally getting Dave out of your hair. Please give me advance notice re: your next SF trip. I am running out of money to buy you dinner and need time to find other suckers to pay for you. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
Ray Zee, if I go on a road trip, and have to drive through Montana because I live in Alberta, can I stop to go fishing with you if it's summer, or skating on your pond if it's winter?
|
Re: some ray zee ramblings
I saw a coyote race yesterday stuck behind a slow driver. I assume they were chasing one another, as I saw no roadrunners nor chickens. Hopefully a nice development or dairy will go in on that ground someday so there is less to burn in the summer.

Re: some ray zee ramblings
A goose tried to kick my ass in Pecatonica, IL two weeks ago. I happened across her babies and she was extremely upset and hissed and lunged at my legs. I'm pretty sure I could have taken her but I backed off and went on my way.

Re: some ray zee ramblings
This makes me remember being a young kid driving from LA to Canada and going through Montana. Very peaceful and tranquil place.
|
Re: some ray zee ramblings
TH,
"Montana. Very peaceful and tranquil place." You must not have stumbled across Ray's river. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
Definately not.
I did want to go fishing or something while there but the 'rents wouldn't stop so we just drove through. I remember hitting a rough patch of fog as well and we could barely see 5 ft in front of the car. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
pecatonica wtf
|
Re: some ray zee ramblings
Octopi,
Where are you in Alberta? |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
I have a simple questions about Ray Zee that alot of you prolly can answer.
Are you retired from being a full time poker player? I know you still play but are you retired and just play now for fun. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
I'm heading back up there this fall - my dad has got his hay rounded up for his livestock - he just has to get it hauled over to the barn. I suspect your barn may be in better shape - we had to get a tarp -

Re: some ray zee ramblings
Nice news flash. You are moving into the 21 century. How does it feel? With all this new speed perhaps you could start using capitals also to complete your transition to the modern age.
[ QUOTE ] fishing is good on the flathead river with lots of cutthroat trout attacking dry flies. [/ QUOTE ] Always good news. How big are the cutthroats? And fish for dinner (or breakfast) with pan fried potatoes, beet greens, and fresh sliced garden tomatoes is great. But you already knew that. Have fun in San Fan. -Zeno |

I have lived in Austin Tx. for 2 out of the last 3 years. In two summers I have experienced the hottest day on record for September and the coldest day on record for June
The first summer I lived here in didn't rain at all for 2 months This summer it has rained everyday for 2 months I really need to watch Al Gore's movie |

Re: some ray zee ramblings
Verizon Wireless is really moving now with their Broadband Access coverage.
Has recently been added to the smallish towns of Destin and Panama City Beach, Florida. As I speculated in another thread, I think the technology might be related to their V-Cast and whatever they have for a hand-held blackberry type thing so they have every incentive to get the hi-speed coverage in as much of the U.S. as they can as quickly as they can. As recently as Dec, 2005 the hi-speed wasn't even in Memphis yet but they're clearly moving pretty quickly now. Also, sorry to hear about your chickens. Here in the Florida panhandle we've been having temps in the hi 80s. Weird that it's hotter in Montana than in Florida. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
hi ray zee.

Re: some ray zee ramblings
Did anyone else find the capitalised "WHO" strange? Is RZ implying someone here may know or may infact be responsible for the dissapearance of said great horned owls?
I'd like to know more about this. |

Re: some ray zee ramblings
I wish I were in Montana fly fishing right now. Right this second. I've never fished the Flathead. It's a cool name for a river though.
I believe if I could find a place where I could fly fish during the day, and play poker at a nice casino at night a short drive away, to win enough to buy food and fly gear for the next day, I could live like that for quite awhile. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
flathead named after the indians from the area. we got fishing and smaller poker at night but not nice casinos, just bars. if you can play at all you could win at least 200 a day.
|
Re: some ray zee ramblings
zeno, trout by my house run 8 to 16 inches for the cutts and 1 to 5 pounds for the lake trout in the river. some big bulls around up to 8 pounds but not many anymore.
8 pound rainbows in the reservation lakes 2 hours drive from here are real common. |
Re: some ray zee ramblings
All - if I left my wife and child and traveled to Montana, would Ray Zee train me in the arts of being awesome like Pei Mei trained Uma Thurman in Kill Bill?
|
Re: some ray zee ramblings
Ray - I'll be in the Livingston area in about 30 days and will paint the barn... I'll be doing some fishing/pokering for a long weekend.
Where do I find the barn/fishies? Thanks, Chad |

[/ QUOTE ] QFT, if you are in missoula you can raise that number to 300 a day (unless you are a very drunk Boris) ray, sorry i missed you between fishing trips, had a bunch of family come into town so i spent very little time at the lake, but mark my words "you will have to put up with me at some point this summer" that is a promise. nice thread, btw, it was needed, people were starting to worry a bit about you. we can't have that. when in sf? love to see you down there, that could be fun. cheers. Re: some ray zee ramblings
I can't beat the games at all, even sober.

Re: some ray zee ramblings
Water temps ok? Clark Fork not cooling below 70. I've not fished local for weeks.

[/ QUOTE ] hey stranger, games are great, you could beat them if you wanted to. we both know this. i actually did a horseback trip in late june into the bob and fished the white, southfork, and holbrook creek. hadn't fly fished since i was a kid, it was great. didn't catch any bulls, but got close, really fun. then went up to queen charlotte island in b.c. with ziggy and fished for salmon. it was really great and the temperatures were great. i heard local fishing is really dead, too bad. you heading to the missouri? come in and say hi sometime. later. Re: some ray zee ramblings
Good to hear from you. Hearing about your trip to the Bob brings back memories. I don't know if I told you but I was a wilderness ranger there for 17 wks. I'd like to hike in again but to old. I bet its much more crowded than 30 yrs ago. I will stop in, I keep meaning to.
