I'm reading about SAGE system and when it's speaking about jam in SB, and i don't know how many is JAM.

For Tight Passive player maybe 2.5BB ? i don't know if is a bet for win the hand in pre-flop or if a bet for look flop.

Can someone teachme about it ?

Thx.

Jamming means going All In.

And SAGE is something you only use when effective stacks are like 8BB or less, unless you're severely outclassed by your competition, in which case it's not a bad way to play.

If you were an average player, and playing against, say, Daniel Negreanu or Phil Ivey, you could use SAGE.

But I think I remember reading somewhere that SAGE is not at all optimal for stack sizes 10BB or bigger.

it only works,in theory, when the Small stack is 10bb or less.
i personally have mixed feelings about using it at all.

I thought it was good for 7BB or less. But against most opponents I use it up to 10BB as well. And definitely in the BB after my opponent limps, my only decision is allin or check.

according to the article in card player, SAGE, is unexplotable when the small stack reaches 10bb or less. i just recently stared to use it, and to be honest it has shown poor results over 50 games, which is a small sample size but notheless it has caused me to loose matches i feel i would have won, using this strat. but math is not opinion,it is fact and SAGE is mathmaticly sound, so in the long run it is effective against players that would normally out play you or are just better at Holdem than you. against lesser opp. i will tend not to use it even when the small stack reaches 4-5bb.

I thought SAGE was only effective when your opponent is playing a similar push/fold style???

I don't believe this is the case, Hokie.

I think that when your opponent is playing a similar push/fold style that the advantage you gain by using SAGE is smaller than it is when they are not push/fold.

People seem to ignore how important the blinds are in the end of the match. If you limp with 5bb because you think you can "outplay" your opponent postflop then you are going to have multiple problems in your game as you move up.

SAGE type play is one of the simplest and most effective strategies to implement in HUSNGs, it's not often that people come by with a near optimal way to play a part of HUSNGs and share their information with you.

I agree with you, but just for arguements sake watch a 2k or 5k HUsng with iftarii or almost anyone. You will see limping and minraising with 5BBs. I don't understand why.

Yea I don't know what the deal with that is, either. Perhaps a question for Indy's interview series?

I guess I should get around to learning SAGE sometime.
