AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
Been away from poker for a while and I'm starting over. Figure I'd take $12 and start working my way up the fixed limits. Started re-reading SSHE as well.
CO's numbers were around 25/0 over 35 hands or so. Table was generally loose and passive. Main question is with PF line. As played, how is the rest? PokerStars 0.02/0.04 Hold'em (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I raise this preflop but there it is debatable. On the turn, when he capped your 3-bet what did you put him on? I don't think I'm 3-betting this river unless I have a better read on villain.

Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
I'd just check call the river. When CO caps the turn he is saying that he has trip jacks beat.
Rest is good. |

Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
Looking back in leisure, I'm thinking bet/call, but in the heat of the moment after he caps me on the turn probably just the call.

Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
when he caps turn I think he has JT or TT, so I am not pushing this anymore, i.e. ok show me your hand punk.

Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
Preflop is good. On the flop I'd gamble that someone will take a stab at it so go for the checkraise. This can cut down the odds the players in between face to draw out on you.
I see so many people, especially fish, overplay trips to a paired board on the turn and river and lose so much. Trips is far weaker than a set and should not be overvalued. bet/call the turn. check/call the river. |

[/ QUOTE ] You have it backward, bet/calling a brick river into a turn cap is something people do all the time in the heat of the moment but almost always turns out to be wrong. There is no reason whatsoever to bet this river. |
Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
AJ is not a very good hand and often dominated. But I guess its worth calling one raise if you are SB. So in this siutation I would raise it up once. It makes it less vulnerable. I would try a C/r on the flop, there are 6 players so its likely that someone will bet. It looks like villain has set of Ts or 6s. So much aggression tells you something. Call the raise on the turn and check on the river.

Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
Sounds like the consensus is the PF call vs a possible raise is 50-50ish. And I was overly aggressive on the turn/river. As it played out, a PF raise probably would not have done any good since the CO was already in the hand. Even if I had raised and everyone else dropped out, CO would have had 7-to-1 to call .. most likely it would have been higher. CO showed J6s. |
Re: AJo in SB - PS .02/.04
raise and call are close preflop
river you should not be beaten, your rarely ahead here |
