Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
well he would have lost 900k if it was a 1.8 mil pot
|
Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
OK, I'm a moron. I obviously wouldn't feel quite so bad about that.
He lost over a mil in the game though. I'd *still* be crying for mommy. |

Don't bluff Bobby Baldwin!!

Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
my decision to vote bobby for best WSOP champ ever is looking pretty good atm...
also brian is playing wayy above his roll surely? |
Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
can i just ask about brian's bankroll for a minute?
ok... high stakes says this - since january 1st 2007.. sbrugby $3.108.253,90 so 3 mill from nlhe this year. in the omaha results... he is not on the winners list nor the losers list. so this means that he has not won more than $505k or lost more than $298k. so let's call it break-even in omaha. so $3million up this year from online poker. discount stars as he is rarely on there as there is no action. anyone know what his results were for 2006? i doubt he did better than the $3million so far this year... also... anyone know what he own from farha in their hu match? the final results? because it seems like he must have made about $8million max in the last 2 years or so. which is obv amazing... but not enough to sit with a million. or bet it without the nuts. is he selling big percentages of his action? otherwise it would seem like he cannot possibly have the roll for this game. not bitching/slandering... but anyone know what he made last year? |
Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
Sick, hopefully he posts details of the pot. I wonder if Brian is down overall now.

July 13, 2007 sometimes things don't go your way in poker, as well as life, and you have to get back at it the next day. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I can put in a winning session. July 14, 2007 ...Just got caught bluffing in a pot over 1.8 million dollars against Bobby Baldwin. [/ QUOTE ] |
Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
If you add up the figures from his blog, including the first huge win against Farha which he subsequently removed mention of, he is still up in this Vegas game - about 600k, I think. Or, one river bluff...

so let's call it break-even in omaha. [/ QUOTE ] If you fudge around with the months you can figure out his omaha stats. I believe he's down 150kish. So he's still up almost 3 million for the year, not including 5k omaha, limit games, and other sites. Going by his blog/radio interview, he came out way ahead against farha and co at he beginning, and went on a big downswing. The last few entries had him winning, then he had this big loss. I doubt he's down a large amount live, if he's down at all. |
Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
I don't follow him like you guys do.
I imagine he made some money from investments but also certainly must have spent SOME of those winnings on some fun little toys. Also, LOL at being so high-stakes-balla that the window between +505k and -298k can be qualified as "meh, lets just call it break-even." |

Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
so can we nowhere near safely say that he is either only having a 50(or less) percent stake in himself in these games... ot that he is playing way too high for his BR?
although the minimum for the 500/1000 game in the bellagio was $100k... as raptor said... if brian is starting with a million then we should call that a buy-in and not 10 buy ins. and come on... a small stake in cardrunners, maybe a couple million in a high interest account.... i doubt he has made over $1mill from investments. |

I once lost 1.8 million in tournament chips. That was pretty rough. The Pokerstars Hubble Freeroll is a rollercoaster I tell ya.

[ QUOTE ] i would have laughed my ass off, what a degenerate. looks like brad booth will have company soon. [/ QUOTE ] There's nothing really more pathetic than you idiot aba haters. [/ QUOTE ] I think people predicting bustohood for aba are making a very bad read. It's been pretty clear throughout his career that he has a healthy respect for money, for bankroll requirements, for the necessity of moving down at times, etc. Remember when he made himself play 10k or whatever it was hands of 25/50 PLO after he ran bad at 200/400? In bankroll terms Aba may be 'taking a shot' by playing 1k/2k, but there is every reason to believe he would drop down before endangering his bankroll. It's the same thing as a random 2+2er taking a shot at 10/20 with 20 buyins or whatever. IMO Aba is really not a gambler, 200k coinflips notwithstanding. And I say that approvingly. Also for the record I have no idea what his bankroll is... I'm just going with the premise that it is not adequate for 1k/2k. |

Re: aba caught bluffing against bobby baldwin in 1.8mil pot
One question about these nosebleed players I've always had is when do they decide enough is enough? I'm not talking about guys like Bobby or some of the other megamillion business types out there that play highstakes poker and have a career and income outside of poker, I'm talking about the guys like Aba who seemingly *only* play poker. If you win, say 5-6 million and you're in your 20's, why would you even want to play anymore? Take the money, buy a house, buy some cars, buy a business, and invest your money. I mean, we're not talking about $10k here. Aba just lost close to 2 million dollars in 2 days, which is more than probably 90% of the people in this country will make in their entire lives. Like Jamie Gold, the guy wins 12 million or whatever and he's just been donking it away in high stakes cash games.
It just seems to me that if you were a guy with basically no job skills, and we're making this enormous amount of money in such a short time, you'd have some realistic views on just how [censored] you'd feel if you lost all that money and had to hump it at a $30k job for the rest of your life. I'm making a broad assumption here that these guys don't have job skills, but seriously, they aren't going to be making near the money in the real job world as they are right now in the poker world. I've never played a big tournament, but I always thought that if I somehow donked my way to a big cash, that would be the end of my poker career. I'd use that big win to make me financially secure for life, and if I never saw two more hole cards in my life, I'd be as happy as can be. Of course, maybe this thought process is why I suck and grind out low limit $10/20 limit games. P.S., those who hate on Aba and relish in his losses are pathetic haters. Grow up. |
