Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
It seems Layne got dropped by Full Tilt. His profile is gone from the website and Bet21 have him as one of they're pros. Same thing happened to Robert Williamson a couple months ago..

[/ QUOTE ] How much are FTP Pros paid ? Does it even matter to these guys ? I'd think not having to wear gaudy branded garb would be worth losing whatever they get paid. |
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
i think like 100k a year if theyre main pros, prob about 40 if "friends" (those most players never heard of)
(based on what I heard a while ago, might not be true) |
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
didn't Matusow said he got 1.5M every year from FT?
|
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
Pretty sure thats what he loses.....

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
I have it on good authority, the "B-list" red names, or friends of full tilt, get paid by the hour (roughly $40/hr) plus 100% rakeback, which would easily bring their yearly salaries to +100k
|
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
last poster is correct, they get piad per hour although not sure plus rb.

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
this is a sad sad day for FTP players

this is a sad sad day for FTP players [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. FTP has probably just lost the biggest cash game fish the in the history of poker. I assume FTP dropped him when he stopped showing up on TV because he really isn't good at poker. |
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
williamson was just on the scoop tv *(cardplayer tv) and he mentioned all his sponsors and ftp was one of them right on his jacket he was wearing

So everyone can ask on chat "whooda red guy" ? Perry Friedman, yeah, I guess, 'cause he wrote the sw and there's probably no way to turn him off, but the rest ? The comedy is Mortensen told me that a lot of times he just donks off his stack so he can get back to offroading. |

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
Layne Flack's SN was of course . . . Layne Flack. I played against him a few times and couldn't see how he could be a long time winner.

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
It depends on their popularity.
I know from very close 2nd hand knowledge that Paul Wasika gets paid 250k/year + tournament entries. Pretty sweet [censored] deal I think. |

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
Several of the marquee "first tier" names have an actual vested interest in the company, and $250k a year is a drop in the bucket to them.

If investigative work needs to be done I can contact the source to verify their knowledge. Admo, you do realize that Wasika finished 2nd in the highest rated poker telecast in the history of television, that's gotta count for something since joe schmo who doesn't know poker probably looks at a full-tilt ad and knows only 2 or 3 pros, rather Wasicka does have a lot mainstream credibility. |

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
I have it from a very very reliable source that Layne had a really low five figure payment deposited to his FTP account every month, from there he could either cash out or chose to play.
I’m not sure about this hourly wage but I have never heard of this and am sure this wasn’t Layne’s deal. |
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
The deal you quoted is about an $800K/year deal, given the rising cost of playing the circuit. That's a substantial amount more than at least one of their top tier players.
However, he's not that marketable of a guy because of his bland table demeanor. Despite his WSOP ME and NBC HU success, Wasika's Q score is lower than...well, just about everybody else in poker. ps. this is no knock on Paul. He's a solid player, and I have great respect for guys that forgo all the made-for-tv-tirade BS. |

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
I agree with admo, i think this is probably a case of telephone gone bad.
I also think if he was freerolling as you suggest for every tournament, he would enter a lot more. As is, he doesn't play all that many compared to some guys. Also, I can't imagine why they would choose to pay that much. Sure they have to compensate these guys and make it worth their while, but its not like there's a huge market driving the prices up for all but maybe a handful of players. |
Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
My understanding is that when Full Tilt put their pro’s and “friends” in major tournaments they have a favorable split on any winnings. While backing many of these folks in major tournaments in and of itself may not be profitable I think they look at it as advertising when one of them makes a final table appearance. It’s one thing to have a guy at a final table with an FTP patch and a whole different story when it when of their established pro’s of “friends.” |

Re: Layne Flack Gone From Full Tilt
I'm pretty sure Williamson has been part of bet21 for at least a few months, they ran a series of ads a few months ago on Canadian TV with 1 BJ pro paired with 1 poker pro in each ad and he was in one. (also if anyone can find those ads online they are the most cringy horrible ads, even by onling gambling standards, so embarassing to watch).
