Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Roger Moore? Maybe I am out of the loop but how did he end up in there?
|
Barbara Enright, you have to be kidding
Who can't name more than a half dozen women, not to mention men, more qualified, in every respect, for the Poker Hall of Fame than Barbara Enright? Has to be bogus.

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Hopefully now that she is in the poker hall of fame she will get staked more often to play in my games. I could definitely use the money.

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
I don't think you guys quite understand.
Are there better players out there than Barbara Enright. Of course. Lots of them? yes. The point is, she's a woman and with the game today, it's time a woman was in the hall of fame. Does that mean you should put someone like Jennifer Harman in? (or whoever else you think is way better, male or female) No, Barabara Enright was playing poker back in the 80's, She's the only woman to final table the main event. She does have a big tournament history and she does have three bracelets - one of them in an open field. Of course it was time for the WSOP hall of fame to induct a female player, and Barbara Enright is the logical choice. All the better players, both male and female can get inducted in the future. And for those who don't, too bad. You weren't a woman playing high stakes poker for the last 25 years. A feat which deserves some recognition. This is good for poker guys. |

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
I was playing 10-20 limit hold 'em with Barbara last Saturday night at the Mirage. In one hand, she decided to intimidate me.
I open-raised in MP and she 3-bet me out of the blinds making the hand heads-up. She announced before the flop that she was check-raising. The flop came Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet and she check-raised me. I 3-bet and she 4-bet. I called. Before the turn card was dealt, she announced another check-raise The turn was a 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] She checked and I bet. But, she slowed down this time and just called. The river was a T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] She checked, I bet, and she called. It was sort of an easy hand for me to play with my J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Barbara didn't show. She did complain a bit about never being invited to the WPT Ladie's Invitational. Apparently, she's tried to get on every year and has been refused. |

she's been on a tear lately 2 [/ QUOTE ] When I played with her at the Mirage, she flopped top set four times and got action every time (including from my AK against her KK). |
Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Sorry to quote my own article, but it seemed relevant.
espn "Shapiro detailed the bullet points of Enright's career. She was the first woman to win the ladies event at the World Series of Poker twice, taking the title first in 1986, then in 1994. The '94 win culminated what may have been the strongest two-year stretch any woman has enjoyed in tournament play. The next year, Enright became the first (and thus far, only) woman to make the final table of the main event, only getting knocked out when Brent Carter's 6-3 off-suit felled her pocket queens. The year after that, she became the first woman to win an open-event bracelet." |

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
I doubt she is winner overall. When I have played with her, she was losing and throwing off someone else's money.

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Barbara Enright? You've got to be kidding me. She can't beat a 20-40 game.

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Well the hall of fame joins the Oscars and the Nobel prize as awards no longer based on true merit and high standards. This move cheapens the legitimacy of all other members.

Re: Phil Hellmuth & Barbara Enright in Poker Hall of Fame
Our esteemed colleague, Gary Wise, is rather wrong in reporting Enright's one final table. I was there and watched. When she got knocked out, she was on a very, very short stack and the size of the antes made certain she would get action. She started as a short stack. One can sit on their chips and hope to move up, if poker is about the money. She was moving in and then walking around dramatically. Everyone including me was cheering for her. She had no realistic chance. Pots where she'd move in and get no calls were dramatic as she walked around.
Jen Harmon has won millions. Annie Duke has won more significant tourneys. Annie Duke has also taken a giant leap forward with her charity tournament and its success. Many, many posters here on TwoPlusTwo have watched Enright play bad poker at cheap limits. Putting her on the Hall of ?Fame is a joke. They should put something like she represents the limit players who have lost a lot of family money. How about Brandi?? She plays higher than Barbara on sucker's money. She is more famous. If they played head up, I would bet Brandi could beat Barbara Enright. |

How about Brandi?? [/ QUOTE ] Wow, what a fantastic idea! We should induct Sklansky and Brandi as a team. How can the author the the ultimate poker book of all time (TOP) not be in the Hall of Fame? |
